Do you have favorite old Ledge posts?
All this legality in the air feels very poignant to me, especially because ledgies are in a civil war of sorts. (For Fleetwood Mac, it used to be bittersweet, and then it was just sweet. But now it's just bitter.)
Are there old Ledge posts that make you feel especially sad or moved? This old post makes me very sad. I miss Vianna, and hope she's looking down on us in amusement. And this old post has the glow of warm nostalgia for me. I miss Seteca, too, who would have given us all guitar lessons if we had asked! And nobody but my old friend Brian was bonker enough to imagine Not That Funny as a swing number. |
I agree...

There are too many to mention of old posts/threads that I miss. |
I miss the excitement of discovering other Stevie Nicks/FM fans online. I remember around 1994 logging onto AOL and finding the Stevie/FM board there and being lost in it for hours that very first night. Then a few years later rec.music.artists.stevie-nicks, and then David told me to come here.

Not that I can recall. However, in the legendary Hollywood Dads thread on Seven Wonders chat, there was a post where, in response to the shippers, Blow-Up style, believing they had located behind an indoor tree a picture(?) or something that proved Lindsey and Stevie were still together, the poster could all but audibly be heard screaming in protest: “For the love of all that is holy, they are leaves! LEAVES!!!!!!” Maybe the funniest thing I ever saw on the Internet.
|
I am also nostalgic for the old "burnish.net" forums.
Thanks for the poignant thread, David. The internet itself has changed so much over the past twenty years. Coming back to a "quaint" locale like The Ledge, which is thankfully still maintained and also populated by many long-standing members like yourself, or those who disappear for a time on other adventures, only to later return (like estranged4life or myself), makes me think of this place as a kind of virtual Old West saloon. (It may also be the color scheme...) |
I can't think of any particular post or thread but there were a few people on here who I lost touch with and I wonder how they are and if they're okay.

I much miss dear Carrie ( Carrie721) , the Queen of Snark. We used to have such fun!!

Bring as many old ledgies back to the forum as you can! It will be an amazing reunion!

I don't recall the name but always loved the signature
"Pick up the pizzas and go home" |

I only left when the mod situation got out of control, back in 2007. That's when several other boards sprouted up, and many people left. Maybe that's when "they" left, as well? |
I miss John B. posts. I miss the Ledge in the old format, from the 90s. Not actually the format, since the current one is more practical, but the posts from that era.

No other "Hollywood Dads" love?
That was the wildest thread ever written on the Mac. (published on 7W, not TL) I wonder if it can still be found. A conspiracy-theory treasure-trove. |
I can’t recall particular posts, but have fond memories of posts where fans would meet up before shows, have pre-show parties and post pictures. Also, posts that would dissect lyric meanings of particular songs. Wondering if Daniel or Jazmen Flowers are still around. I will always remember the first Wild Heart Affair in SF celebrating Stevie’s Birthday and the threads about Night of 1,000 Stevie’s, the Nicks Fix Ask Stevie page. It was a much quainter time and I miss it. All this gruel these days makes me feel old and stodgy, or maybe I just am old and stodgy after this many years. :blob1: (love the bouncy blob)
Edit: While not exactly my favorite thread, the one with Wendy Welch was heartbreaking and very unforgettable. |

Thought it would be famous among Mac fans but I also got the sense there wasn't much Ledge/Seven Wonders overlap. |
I'm not going to bother searching, but the two I remember best were the "Stevie Song Generator" thread and the one about UK vs. US gas prices.

I miss the days of Mick's board and "The Knight!" He sent me a cease and desist to my workplace... good times!

Is he still in Mick's camp in any way? Anyone know what happened to him? |
Jonathan Todd was part of that failed Fanclub. I recall people who paid the money for the fan club got screwed over for various reasons re presale tickets and he was the one spewing BS and deleting posts on the old message board they had when people complained. I believe he also threatned people with lawsuits etc if they didn't stop bad mouthing him and or the shady fan club. I have no idea what he is doing now.
|
Surely the classic photo caption threads are worth a mention?
Also, what happened to that absolutely hysterical video of “The Adventures of Buckingham Nicks” with Mick and his Cheeto’s? |

Remember Seteca and Gaius? Two gents I learned a great deal from about music. Long gone (from the Ledge, not the Earth, let’s hope). |

And I remember the fan club fiasco very well. People were initially promised seats within the first X amount of rows on the fan club sign-up page etc. Then people signed up, went through the process, and that didn't turn out to be the case. People were being offered seats 10-15 rows back and not even center. Then I think they refused to acknowledge the bait and switch and refused to give people refunds. It got so bad that non-fan club people who did manage to get seats up front were wearing shirts that said something like "Fire Jonathan Todd"
The club also promised exclusive backstage content provided by Mick. Weeks and weeks of the tour went by and nothing was delivered. Mick eventually posted a few really lame videos of him on a treadmill backstage and that was about it. They basically didn't deliver what they said they would on almost every level. |

IMO, the fan club fiasco was really the start of the decline of Mick's reputation among fans. It was a big PR blunder and how he handled it really sucked.

Can you imagine? What kind of a major idiot do you have to be to kick me out of a Fleetwood Mac chat room? I was dumbfounded. |

And I was kicked out of the now defunct Seven Wonders for saying Michelle Tyler sucks!(as a Stevie impersonator and singer) |

F*CK EM! |
Here's a fun fact. Todd also fell behind on paying for a storage unit in LA a couple of years back. It went to auction and somebody wound up selling the contents on eBay for a while. It was a bunch of Mick's drum sticks, Mick's wine labels, Say You Will tour items with Todd's name on them etc. A real junk drawer from the '03-'05 era spent with Mick. Technically, it might not of been his storage unit, but there was an awful lot of stuff that implied otherwise.

What was the name of that Ledgie who moved from Ohio to Sarasota, Florida? And after he got to Fla. he used to post the most beautiful pictures of the beaches there. I miss him and his pics!
|
I miss Macfanforever, aka Skip R. Wherever he is I hope he is surrounded by lots of Mac and Stevie tunes.
