So the tour has already started? Do you think he will come to Australia?
Do you have a recording of Swan Song, or any of the other new songs?

Take care!

DownOnRodeo 09-02-2021 08:00 AM

Back in 2018 I think he mentioned touring down under, but I doubt he would be touring either Australia or NZ in 2021 while both countries are still in lockdown/border closure mode most of the time. Maybe he'll be able to do some dates after the UK if things go well.

DownOnRodeo 09-02-2021 08:06 AM

Thanks for posting, Elle.

"I Must Go"??? He really likes that song--all 5 repetitive minutes of it.

I feel like that setlist is about 5 songs longer than the 2018 tour.

His voice sounds amazing in that clip.

ryan4136 09-02-2021 08:08 AM

Lindsey still has his wedding ring on.....interesting.

BLY 09-02-2021 09:59 AM

Interesting he didn’t do his “hit single” Go Insane.

TrueFaith77 09-02-2021 06:49 PM

He didn’t keep his promise to do Countdown this tour :(

TrueFaith77 09-02-2021 08:04 PM

For those who went: how was swan song?

I should have gone. My fam lives in Milwaukee

That was the first thing I noticed, too :distress:

I got the CD and went back to my vehicle to listen to it before the concert. I usually have to listen to a CD several times before I form an opinion. My initial reaction was that is was quirky, kind of like the Law and Order album. However, the live version was great. Will probably end up being a favorite from the CD, although Scream is in the top spot for me right now.

Countdown

Countdown in lieu of I Must Go would have made it a near perfect setlist (in my opinion). I think the band really likes the energy of I Must Go and the crowd reaction. Pretty good representation from all of his previous work, including a song from Buckingham McVie (Love is Here to Stay). Soul Drifter and Doing What I Can from Out of the Cradle made the setlist, so I was happy. The first eight songs were solo songs before he did any Mac songs. The second half of the set was dominated by Mac hits and songs from the new CD.

I recorded snippets of all new songs - just go on my YouTube page where Time is and you’ll find them all.

This is a beautiful song and lovely low-key performance. His band support is always expert. There are never any issues of drown-out or feedback, I’ve noticed on YouTube. Whoever mixes live sound for him is a treasure.

Did Lindsey write “Time”? It has those “Down on Rodeo” Kingston Trio atmospherics. The set list is hefty — something there for everyone, I would imagine. Thanks for sharing, Elle.

David, Time is a cover written by Michael Merchant and first recorded by Pozo Seco Singers in 1965.

jwd 09-03-2021 04:46 PM

Linds sounds good. Nice to know that he recovered so well from his heart attack and vocal cord damage. Wishing him well on this tour.

Setlist is a nice representation of his work. I guess everyone would like to have one of their other favorites in there. I'm just grateful he's making new music and out there for us, STILL.

Go Lindsey. See you soon!

No, he didn’t write Time - I don’t remember who did but I remember reading that it’s a cover. Oh, there you go, lbfan beat me to it!

To clarify: it’s not that I’m disappointed he isn’t doing Countdown per se, but disappointed because he said he would do it in the next tour. I forgive him, though, as always I’m sure he has a well-thought out set list.

i posted all the live new songs in the "New Songs" thread, here is Love Is Here To stay (BuckVie song) from Mystic Lake in MN, yesterday -

TrueFaith77 09-07-2021 10:44 AM

Interesting: nothing from Gift of Screws

I would have thought Treason would become a new mainstay.

right... Treason has been his mainstay. I would have loved GOS or Underground, but frankly i'm happy he didn't drag TPT back out.

Lindsey Buckingham 5
Seeds We Sow 2
Under the Skin 2
Out of the Cradle 2
Go Insane 1
Law and Order 1
FM 1
Rumours 3
Tusk 1
Tango 1
BuckVie 1

I get the symbolism of Not Too Late and starting with it, while ending with Time, but he should have replaced NTL with Rock Away Blind. how amazing would that opening be?

i would have also loved electric Go Insane back (but would rather not have slow Go Insane), and of course, Trouble show go away once and forever. same with NGBA. it had a purpose on 2018 tour, but it doesn't anymore, and it's been slow and dirgey for multiple tours now. Holiday Road is a crowd pleaser and he could have brought it back.

i miss Slow Dancing, but i'm very very happy about I Must Go and Doing What I can being in the setlist. i'm also ecstatic that Love Is Here To Stay is back, perhaps the most gorgeous love song he ever wrote. since this is his "divorce album" and he made it clear in that recent interview that he does not want a divorce, i like the symbolism of bringing back this love song to his wife.

and the surprise that we got immediately as a first song of the soundcheck - In Our Own Time is back! he dropped it at the last few shows of the 2018 tour, so i'm ecstatic that it's back and it sounds amazing.

elle 09-07-2021 05:17 PM

also, i thought it was appropriate that Lindsey took Second Hand News back, to wash off it the sleaze of Fakewood.

Does any one know if he took songs out of the set in LA last night?

He continues to sound amazing (based upon the videos I've seen from LA--I wasn't there)
Does anyone know if his family was there?

Lindsey looks content and happy. Family, friends, a successful career and being the artist that HE wants to be. Good for him.

He really does look content. I think he's made peace with the old goat getting him fired. It'll eat you up if you don't let it go. Good for him.

And probably part of that process was realizing that he's finally goat free. That's got to be worth a few million.

Linds is intelligent and mature enough to understand that. And his willingness to forgive and forget for the sake of the legacy of FM and the fans is more than a testament to it.

 At your second comment.

She has(OWNS) FM, but he has a family LIFE outside of music. She doesn't.

Old I'm Not The Boss hates him for that.

I don't know if you've seen this. But watch this video from 2:55 to 3:15. She talks about her lack thereof.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM_Wonk4CNM

She has Lori and Jessi, and Christopher...and Karen Johnston.

Ah yes, the infamous Smirking/Dancing video. Lindsey didn't do anything worse than Christine and Mick. And John even looked like, "why don't you just STFU?"

god, does she ever get tired of listening to herself blather on?

What did she say? Two hours of singing, and 46 minutes of talking. STFU, Stevie, just STFU!

EDIT - and I wonder why comments are turned off for that video???
Yeah, that's why...probably too many people called a spade a spade. Whoever posted the video probably couldn't take all the Stevie criticisms, when she got Lindsey fired....

Before the band came out, there was a MusiCares video played where Dave Navarro talked about feeling alone and turning to drugs or alcohol. And how MusiCares gives him and other addicts a place to turn to.

Stevie didn't praise MusiCares. Just said Tom Petty let her know what it was.

Mick, Chris, and Lindsey all commended MusiCares.

I've been to shows where people in the audience shout Oh Come On Stevie or STFU and sing

A captive audience is a big responsibility.
