Loving Cup The best solo Lindsey song ever?

Lindsey played most instruments on the 1984 album Go Insane. This is my all time favorite Lindsey solo song. There are such gems on this album. Too bad it was not kept for a Mac album because I want to hear Chris and Stevie sing back up on this.
This is my favorite song for many reasons.

The melody is very catchy
Guitar solo and guitar riffs are so good
Lyrics for a Lindsey song go together perfectly

I just think it captures all the elements of a hit song

So what do you guys think?

i love this song... it would fit somewhere around place #20 or so of my favorite LB solo songs.

thanks for starting the thread and for making me remember all the old polls 10 or so LB superfans had on fb couple of years ago. these are some of the results i could dig out (so hard to see old posts on fb):

FAVE LINDSEY SONG - GRAND FINAL
The Top 5 songs, with a full set of votes, are:

IN OUR OWN TIME
DOWN ON RODEO
COUNTDOWN
TROUBLE
DID YOU MISS ME

(i was appalled to see the last 2 on this list of course, but hey we all have different tastes! ;) )

songs that same group of people included in their top 5 LB solo songs:

In Our Own Time
Down On Rodeo
Countdown
Trouble
Did You Miss Me
The Right Place To Fade
Slow Dancing
Holiday Road
That's The Way That Love Goes
Cast Away Dreams
Sleeping Around The Corner
Turn It On
Go Insane
You Do Or You Don't
Bwana

Well, I'm definitely agreed that seeing DYMM on that favourites list is an unwelcome shock, lol.

To the topic's point, completely agree that Loving Cup is an absolutely amazing song. One of my favourites from that album, for sure.

I like DYMM, I wouldn't put it in my Top 5 or Top 20 list, though.

i'm having hard time digging out on fb how this list came about, but i think there was voting for 2 favorite songs from each of his solo albums first, than also 2 of extras, soundtracks, and b-sides (that's how Sleeping Around the Corner is on there), and those winners were then the songs that went into a final vote. although there seem to be 3 OOTC songs on this list for some reason, maybe they had the same number of votes or something...

so the 2 top songs with the most votes from each album must have been:
  • In Our Own Time / That's The Way That Love Goes (SWS)
  • The Right Place To Fade / Did You Miss Me (GOS)
  • Down On Rodeo / Cast Away Dreams (UTS)
  • Countdown / Turn It On / You Do Or You Don't (OOTC)
  • Go Insane / Slow Dancing (GI)
  • Trouble / Bwana (L&O)
  • Holiday Road / Sleeping Around The Corner (extras, soundtracks, etc)

for me, only 2 of those 5 top ones deserve to be there - IOOT and Rodeo.

In the long run, I guess Go Insane is my favorite soloalbum from Lindsey. And Loving Cup is one of the main reasons, with Play In The Rain and DW Suite.

Back in the 1980's when this album was still fresh and new in my life, The Loving Cup earned a spot in all my mix tapes of the time.

Bang the drum and DW Suite for me, but i also love Go insane (the song). but i love his later 4 studio albums more than GI and L&O. although GI and UTS sometimes switch places.

Same with me; this song stood out as one of my favorites from the album. It sounded like it could have easily been suitable on a Fleetwood Mac album. (That was how I assessed his solo work at the time; but I have evolved).

I'm apprehensive about naming any one song as the single best song. Sure, some songs may stand out better than others. But the "best" is a personal, very subjective term.
