"Might be Peter Green..."
Since nothing new is happening here and the old stories have been told a hundred times, it reminded me to start a new thread called "Might Be Peter Green...". Some young guitarists sound like Peter Green. I just listened to the next song and thought this might be Peter Green:

Oh Well, The Running Guns.

Also some older guitarists have their Peter Green moments...this is so petergreen - so petergreen - more petergreen could be only Peter Green himself:

 on the subject of this here thread: there is an earlier thread somewhere on this forum (can't recall if "peter green" or "the early years"), where it came down to the same matter - other guitarists in greeny mode. i remember mentioning 2 axemen myself: first of all must be SNOWY WHITE, who should need no further introduction at all to fans of peter's. another one is GREGOR HILDEN. he's from germany and he's got some 15 or so records under his own belt. also citing jeff beck and larry carlton as influential to his playing, greg's never shy to show a very strong peter green influence again and again. i recommend highly to check him out on youtube. here's one to whet your appetite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoC3cMZBit0 |
Billy F. Gibbons:
“This was inspired by Peter Green's opening figure in [Fleetwood Mac's] "Oh Well." I was living in Los Angeles, sitting on the steps of this apartment. It was raining and I couldn't go anywhere, so I was trying to learn this figure. It got all tangled up. And it stayed tangled.” Live version of ZZ Top's "Oh Well" (Peter Green moment of Billy F. Gibbons): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVlSkN-ytxM |
Daniel Castro: “Blues is easy to play but hard to feel.”
"Castro has been a staple in San Francisco’s blues scene since he moved up permanently from Orange County in 1995. A professional player since he was 14 years old, Castro lived in Los Angeles for many years. While blues is his No. 1 love, he mostly had to play in rock bands to get work. He said the rock bands he played with emulated English rockers such as Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. The Brit that Castro most admired was Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNCrfKtA3lE |

Peter Green is gone but his music is alive. You can come across it in the most surprising places. Cafe in the Canary Islands:

Bad music is not plagiarized. Bad playing style is not plagiarized. Peter Green’s music and his playing style are plagiarized. Peter Green and Elvis are still among us through the plagiarists.

J.J. Cale was one of the greatest guitarists. His "Sensitive Kind" (1975) song appears based on Peter Green's "Black Magic Woman" 6 years earlier (1969).
Especially in this version of Eric Clapton - Don White, the similarity is quite clear. The song has also been varied by John Mayall and Carlos Santana. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8OhmTaNtRg |
The solos of a few guitarists are analyzed 50 years after the performance. However, this is the case with Peter Green. The secret of Green's magical sound is still being sought.
In the link below, a young guitar teacher unpacks Green’s live solo of B.B. From King’s blues “I’ve Got A Mind To Give Up Living (All Over Again),” which is considered one of the best guitar solos of all time. He knew nothing about Peter Green (only the name) until one of his students sent him that solo for analysis. Look at his reactions. He would definitely like to play as Peter Green - to be Peter Green. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTC4IbuhDWI |
Yet another recent analysis for those who want to play guitar like Peter Green did 50 years ago. At the end is a story about how Danny Kirwan joined the band.

It is still possible to earn a few coins by playing the guitar like Peter Green.

Peter Green was the first one - the inventor - to put an awesome several minutes (5-10) long guitar solo at the end of a slow blues composition. That pattern has been repeated since then by countless guitar heroes - often in exactly the same way.
Here's one of them - Alvin Lee. You can probably find familiar features in the guitar solo at the end (starting at 4.00 min.) of the ”Bluesiest Blues”. (Listening to this, it comes to mind, how much more awesome the performance would be, if it included Peter Green's vocals and Peter Green's fingers around the neck of the guitar.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB6OlJqV1rQ |

Gary Moore using Greenie in 1977-ish in Australia. Cool to think that Pete’s rhythm section, session pianist, and guitar were kicking ass in 1977!!! |
Now also Eric Clapton also recognizes the color

Well not of course, but as Clapton says at the beginning of the song, "This is for Peter" .... maybe he still tried to be a little bit like Peter when playing the song ...?
