R.I.P. Tina Turner

Another gutting loss.

Hating this timeline.

What an amazing human being and performer.

Oh no. I didn't check any news site and then I entered the Ledge and find it. Shocking. :(

We seem to have reached the age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away. (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull)

75% of the Facebook posts I saw this afternoon were about Tina.

Damn. What a loss. Tina was one of the best performers in rock history. Her story and the ability she had to reinvent her career at the age that she did and achieve the kind of success she did, was nothing short of remarkable. Her live performances were absolutely legendary. What a talent!

Amazing post by Angela Bassett:
"How do we say farewell to a woman who owned her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world? Through her courage in telling her story, her commitment to stay the course in her life, no matter the sacrifice, and her determination to carve out a space in rock and roll for herself and for others who look like her, Tina Turner showed others who lived in fear what a beautiful future filled with love, compassion, and freedom should look like. Her final words to me - for me - were 'You never mimicked me. Instead, you reached deep into your soul, found your inner Tina, and showed her to the world.' I shall hold these words close to my heart for the rest of my days. I am honored to have known Tina Turner. I am humbled to have helped show her to the world. So on today, while we mourn the loss of this iconic voice and presence, she gave us more than we could have ever asked. She gave us her whole self. And Tina Turner is a gift that that will always be "simply the best." Angels sing thee to thy rest…Queen."

Amen to Angela who played the film part better than anyone else could.

Be at peace with your sons, Tina, forever.

Just watched Brittany Spanos, Senior Writer at Rolling Stone, speak about Tina's impact on CNN. She said every great rock singer or performer was trying to mirror or be great like Tina. Very powerful.

Touching tribute and breathtaking performance by Lizzo last night.
“There would be no Rock ‘n’ Roll without Tina Turner.” "As a Black girl in a rock band, I would not exist if it was not for the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

Her solo success in the early 80’s paved the way for Tina a few years later. You didn’t know?

That's what Tina said!

"I'd have been NOTHING without the tutelage of Stevie Nicks!"

Watched the HBO documentary "Tina" from a few years back tonight. Nobody could--or ever will--touch her. The real undisputed "Queen of Rock 'n Roll"!
R.I.P., Tina.
