The First Song My Band Is Doing..... "Carrie" .......... Check It Out!!

So, you all know I write songs at quite a prolific rate. Yesterday, my band got together at this teacher's house (he's the coolest teacher ever) and we laid down the song (Carrie) and got it mostly recorded. Mr. Lamb (the teacher) laid down some harmony vocals and did some things once Andy, Zoe and I left. Hopefully it will be on c.d by Monday.

Anyway, this definately isn't the FIRST song I have written, but It feels really cool to bring this song to life.

Here are the lyrics, feel free to comment.

This Is The Song That My Band Is Doing First........ "Carrie"

So, Andy and Zoe came over on Valentine's Day, and we did this song and it is turning out really well. Here are the lyrics for those interested:

Carrie............ Written on Jan. 20, 2007

Verse 1:

A long time ago,

A love affair of epic proportions.

You smiled at me,

and I though you were giving me a sign.

I considered it well and bade my time.

Then you moved to others......Not Me.

It obviously wasn't meant to be, I could see.

Then you were my friend,

we were til the end,

never thought you'd do something

to tear me apart.... Inside.

Inside all I want to do is cry.

Chorus

Well you can talk to Carrie.

She wasn't meant for me.

Though I thought my feelings were over,

I never thought you would do this to me.

But now I realize, that the flame never really died.

Turn around, the river was never dry.

Well, you can talk to Carrie.

Verse 2:

I thought my love for you was gone.

No, not completely.

I had almost moved on with my life,

tried to live without you,

but it was taking time.

The other day I met someone new.

It was ironic because she is prettier than you.

And now we talk, from time to time.

And it seems like she cares.

Is that too much to bare?

Chorus

Verse 3

I won't talk to you again because,

losers never win.

As for you my friend,

when will we ever meet again?

I guess I'll forgive you,

since you never knew,

Though I still loved her... I wasn't through.

Will anything happen with her?

Oh I don't know,

but she's better than you ever were.

Though things are only beginning.....

Chorus

Closing

He will leave you soon.

And when you need a man,

know that the offer doesn't stand.

I am through...Nothing more to try.

Carrie..... Goodbye

So anyway, once the song is on C.D I'll post it for those who want to listen to it. Tell me what you think of the lyrics and whatnot.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Much Love,
Ethan

Seriosuly though, the song is about that girl that I liked recently, named Sarah, and how she started dating my best friend.

Have you by chance ever heard the song "Tell It To Carrie" by The Romantics? It kinda reminds me of it, not in a bad way though, since The Romantics = one of the best bands ever. Sounds cool.

You're a lot further than I am with my band. We're just starting "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue, and originals aren't on the brain yet. So, for that, I salute you.

I got Carrie from Stephen King's book. It was the book I was reading the time I wrote the song. I needed a girls name, so I just thought, what the heck, we'l go with Carrie.

Thank you for the salute. I actually haven't heard of that song, but saying it reminds you of one of the best bands ever is definately a huge compliment.

My song Carrie was just origianlly writeen with me on piano. Now, the semi-almost-kinda-final product sounds very 80's with its strong rhythm and everything (think Rock A Little, just a little less rock). I am still on a high from last night, because like I said, nobody has ever done my songs and it is just a great feeling.
