Joe Jackson Interview

I've been listening to 'The Joe Jackson Interviews' on spotify over the past few weeks (killing time in lockdown ) One popped up with Christine the other day so I thought I'd share :)

I'm not sure how I feel about Joe's interview tactics, he certainly doesn't shy aware but there's certain points during this interview where I'm surprised CM didn't tell him to mind his business. I don't know... Just feels abit too personal at times.

Enjoy!

Thank you! Always great to hear her talk about things (the rock journalist talking to her is revolting and shallow). In fact, you sent me down a rabbit hole and I found some other interesting things:

Christine and Desert Island Discs. She has some surprising choices, like the Beach Boys "Angel Come Home" and Vaughan Williams's "The Lark Ascending," and she even sings a bit of the very first song she ever wrote (at age 16, just like Stevie).

Christine McVie accepts her lifetime achievement award at the Ivor Novello Awards ceremony. I looked up the other lifetime achievement winners and Chris is in splendid company. This is the same status as Stevie's induction as a solo person in the R&R Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

David, thank you for the audio recording of her receiving the Ivor Novello songwriting award. I had not yet heard that and was pleased by the enthusiasm those in attendance expressed for her achievements. As usual, Christine acquits herself with economy and grace. No frills.

The one controversial item is her mention (in 2014) of the band setting to work on a new studio album, thereby proving — if anyone needed proof — that Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie WAS initially intended to be part of a new FM record, even though both of them were forced later to pretend it wasn’t.

I've never heard this one! Thank you for posting.
