Posthumous releases?

Hi - do you think Rhino will release any Christine material soon? What do you think it will be? I'd love a reissue of her 1984 live show on DVD and a Buckingham/McVie live show on CD

I doubt it. It probably wouldn't move enough copies to be (in low, husky voice) "viable product".

Just being honest...

I've actually thought about this. Depends on who has the rights.

Her death did rattle the world. It would be nice to have a box set of Fm and solo material.

One can dream!

Though I doubt she left anything behind that she really wanted the world to hear.

I doubt there’s much in the way of unreleased material out there. She largely wrote to order, so what you see is probably what you get.
A ‘Best of Fleetwood Mac: Christine McVie’ might be the best we can hope for.

Didn't one of the articles mention another unreleased solo album? Post-FM, after In The Meantime?

I could maybe only see something like this happening as a Record Store Day exclusive release. Those don't need to move a huge number of copies as scarcity is part of the appeal.

My unrealistic ideas for the content:

1. Recording of a 1984 live show. This seems easiest to pull off.

2. Early years best-of compilation, with selects from Chicken Shack, Christine Perfect album, and pre-1975 FM. Unlikely as it would involve getting rights from 3 different entities, and Christine seemed embarrassed of her first solo album for her whole life so she probably wouldn't have wanted more attention drawn to it.

3. 1988-1995 compilation, with all her songs from BTM and Time plus Love Shines, Heart of Stone, and ALAYF. This is one of my favorite Christine eras. So many of these songs were of the same caliber as her biggest hits but got little to no exposure because of the context they were released in.

4. In my most fantastical, least probable dreams, she left behind a bunch of secret demos for that blues album she was always talking about making, and there is someone with access to them who has the means to get them produced, pastiched into an album, and released.

Wouldn’t totally surprise me if Chris herself was behind that. She loved April Fool’s pranks.

I think she was recluse at this point. I can't remember who it was. It was a regular.

Yeah, from 2002-2008-ish she was a recluse. I remember thinking ITM was a miracle that appeared despite this. I still think so.

She and LB worked on one of her songs that was ultimately not included on their duet record. (LB probably insisted they each have five songs only.) At the time, in a co-interview, Christine alluded to this and said she had “high hopes for that song.” LB said something like “for the next duet project…”

If we could get a hold of that song….

Let’s hope he includes these tracks on his next solo release.

Wow, I'd love to hear it.

Since she no longer owned the rights to most of her songs, this would be easy to pull off. I could see a "Best Of' collection of all her hits from the Mac and solo. However, I dont think it would happen because the owners would be profiting from her death. They make money selling to advertisers and could get blowback from such a move.
I would dream of a live BuckVie concert professionally released or a reissue of her solo work but I doubt it would happen. Put that right up there with a reissue of Behind The Mask. Chris did not sell records as a solo artist even though we love her work and they are incredible records. I just dont see the market for it.

Tusky 03-21-2023 04:34 PM

Oh yes found it! "Christine is currently working on new material which is planned for a forthcoming solo album which she describes as marking a return to her musical sound from the seventies." It's from 2013
