Christine “rockers”

Christine’s songwriting usually fits into one of two categories: the piano-driven ballad or the mid-tempo pop tune. Occasionally, she has written/recorded up-tempo, guitar-driven rockers. I’m trying to think of them (and not confuse them with the mid-tempo “up” tunes. It’s not easy!

This is what I think might fit:

Morning Rain
Homeward Bound
Believe Me
Bad Loser
YMLF (possibly)
Think About Me
Love Will Show Us How
One in a Million
Isn’t it Midnight
Save Me
Temporary One
Liar
Too Far Gone
Slow Down

Thoughts? Any I missed? Any I got wrong?

Good list. I would add Too Much Is Not Enough.

I'm The One is a rocker on her solo album but she did not write it

Do co-writes count? What about World Turning?

Funny, I thought of both of those. I’d definitely count World Turning. She didn’t write “I’m the One” but it is guitar-driven.

I agree that most of her songs fit either category but there is a rare third category like Behind The Mask. Its definitely not a peppy love song or rocker. Its a dark song.

Looking back at the video, it's kind of genius and hilarious. The LOEV dancers are cute and clever.

Heroes are Hard to Find.

My understanding is she had a hand in writing Station Man and a few of those other DK songs at that time.
Btw, not sure I’d describe Heroes… as a guitar driven rocker. Uptempo, albeit.

I’d heard this, too—her as-of-yet unresolved contract from Blue Horizon prevented her from getting credit on the keys and the vocals, too. These are stories I’ve heard or read somewhere.

I agree: HAHTF is an bouncy tune but it ain’t a rocker—it’s a sassy blues. Interesting note: it was either SteveMac or ChilD who pointed out years ago that the guitar work on this tune is pretty much the same as on Over My Head—except the former is electric and the latter is acoustic/dobro. I also noticed that the early version of Over My Head (on the White album deluxe) features a bouncy piano riff very similar to the one used on HAHTF.
