Kate Bush turned down an offer to open for the Tusk Tour

With Kate Bush in the news for the chart resurgence of "Running Up That Hill", I felt it would be a good time to share this tidbit.

"Even more tantalising was an offer to support Fleetwood Mac in the US in late ’79. A high-profile slot opening for one of the most successful bands in the world would was an open goal for most artists. But Bush wasn’t most artists.

'Like most support acts, she was going to get half an hour, no dancers and no magicians, so just going up there with four musicians and banging out a couple of hits,” says Brian Southall. “And she wasn’t prepared to do that.'"

Danny Douma and Christopher Cross opened for certain Tusk Tour shows instead.

Danny Douma of the soft rock band Wha-Koo opened for the Tusk tour instead.

Douma opened for many of the 1979 dates, although Christopher Cross did indeed open for the tour on several occasions. I will edit my original post to address that.

I suggest you keep your legs crossed, kind sir! There are ladies present on this board, after all.

I missed that, which is odd, because that kind of double entendre is my forte!

I'm a bad man spreader, though. My legs are usually at 90 degrees!

Can we just quit with all the double entendres and get back to talking about Bush?

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist!

While trying to rarely be offensive, I'm on no one's payroll here. I do me.

No Kate Bush so they go with Danny Douma?

That’s like saying I’ll have a martini and if you can’t make me one I’ll take a banana split. Two entirely different worlds!

I'll have a grey goose martini....

Here's your flip flop sandals that you ordered. However, you must have covered shoes to be in the establishment.

Thank you for your business.

Exactly. And Kenny Loggins is signing autographs backstage.
