Wow! That's huge and historic. New Stevie music and tour!!!

mitzo 01-20-2023 08:32 PM

Tour dates will be announced. No way there is any new music.

Mitzo, when Stevie last toured arenas, she was touring behind a studio album (even thought it was 2 years old). She's never done a nostalgia tour in arenas.

Stevie is playing Maple Leaf Gardens, United Center, and Philips Arena on this tour; these are massive arenas. She definitely is touring new music. This is different than a summer amphitheatre tour. This is going to be like the 24 Karat Gold Tour.

How do we know she is playing these venues? I thought we had to wait until Monday?

A number of venues have posted the announcement that tothegypsy shared with us. New Orleans Arena, T-Mobile Arena, KFC Center. There were a few others.

I have a feeling it's going to be a Volume 2 of 24 Karat Gold album and tour because of the Gold Dust video and font. Don't forget she has that song Get It Back she posted before the MidTerm elections too.

Correct. It is all about the cash grab oldies tours now. There may be a one off song or a remake here and there or croaking along to other people's songs but a new album no.

The Chase Center posted the teaser about Gold Dust being in the air. Her first time playing that arena.

We'll see. We have had zero evidence she has recorded a new album, or even any songs that weren't duets or one-offs. This may be just the 24KG tour again with a shorter setlist.

Last year in an interview, she told Mike Campbell she recorded a song about vampires and a love song. It won't be the 24 Karat Gold Tour again because she's playing the same, as well as bigger, venues.

I don't think a new album could have been kept secret at all. God help us, this may be yet another retrospective or greatest hits thing. I really hope I am wrong but I doubt it.

I think the greatest hits will be for the Billy Joel shows. It just doesn't seem like she would play that terrible 2022 setlist for an arena she is headlining on her own.

The 2022 shows were an outdoor, easy going, blanket on the lawn type of show.

The arena shows are going to be more of her fans who know her material and will like hearing new songs. It'll be a more formal environment. It will be the show Stevie wants to design and perform.

Will they, though? I think it’ll be an arena tour, maybe with a new/new to her song, maybe a few deep cuts, but mostly the well worn standards. I think the big announcement is who’s opening/co-headlining.

FM77 01-21-2023 12:25 AM

MGM is also tweeting that. So back to Vegas?

FM77 01-21-2023 01:15 AM

Nope…full on tour! Vegas, Seattle, Knoxville, Raleigh, Sacramento announced so far…

This. Similar to the 24KG tour. We have no indication at all of a new album or anything like that.

What is a new to her song? Does that mean Joan of Arc or Space Needle?

I don't think there will be a big opening act. I think it'll be Vanessa, Sheryl, or Chris Isaak.

As for enjoying new songs, I think so. Stevie is huge now and her audience is captivated by anything she performs.

Similar to the 24KG Tour with a Volume Two of Songs From the Vault.

She could've done the recording at home for all we know because of COVID-19. Or perhaps the album is coming out at the end of the year and she's going to play a few songs from it on this tour beforehand.

I don't see a big announcement like this in major sports league arenas if it's going to be just Stevie Nicks: Live in Concert like 2022 was.

blinker12 01-21-2023 01:20 PM

As much as I would love it if you were right, UnwindedDreams, I too see no reason to expect new music will be announced - just tour dates. In addition to the fact that we have heard zero rumblings of any album-scale recording, look at the source of this tweet: LiveNation. They do concerts.

I do think she has at least one more album in her. I just don’t think it’ll be released before this tour.

Maybe, maybe one or two new songs from the Greg Kurstin sessions?

Live Nation announced a Janet Jackson tour last month that will feature new music. They can do the same for Stevie. Even if she does two Greg Kurstin songs that would be a huge deal for a Stevie Nicks show. 24 Karat Gold Tour was a lot of fun but, imo, the set was not as strong as IYD Tour or Enchanted Tour. Snippets of WH and BD, Crying in the Night is such a short song, and she skipped the best songs from 24 Karat: All the Beautiful Worlds, 24 Karat Gold, Mabel Normand, and The Dealer. I think the best part of the show was Gold and Braid.

Macfan4life 01-21-2023 02:56 PM

The setlist was announced:

Outside the rain
Dreams
If Anyone Falls
Enchanted
Rhiannon
Moonlight (A vampire's dream)
Bella Donna/Wild Heart
Stand Back
Landslide
Gypsy (say hey hey)
Gold Dust Woman
Leather and Lace (with Billy)
Edge of 17

Encore:
I need to know
HAEWAFY (dedicated to Prince, Tom, Chris, David Crosby)

MacFan4life was just being silly, as I’m sure you know

I’m certain SteveMacD was correct when he said Stevie will perform Don’t Stop as a tribute to Christine, both in the tour with Billy and her own tour.

I really hope she does Rooms on Fire, Talk to Me, and I Can’t Wait. I know she won’t, but that would be great if she did.

Then you and I can argue about whether she should do deep cuts instead of new music :]

Those are hits that you mentioned! But I'd be thrilled to hear them.

What are your ultimate deep cuts for Stevie to play live? Mine are If You Ever Did Believe, Gate and Garden, Long Way To Go, and Sara (solo). Curious how Sara would sound without Mick, John, Chris, and Brett in 2023.

To me the highlight was If You Were My Love on the album and on tour.

That whole encore. It’s going to be Free Fallin’ and Don’t Stop. The whole thing will be a tribute to Tom and Chris…and you’re right about the others too.)

Gypsy (hey bay bayyy*)

It was a really nice performance and the Church visuals on the screen. But I think that should've closed the show instead of Leather and Lace and then she could have done another song from 24 Karat Gold like Watch Chain.

I liked the tour and for sure the stage, just left a lot to be desired for the money I paid to see those shows.

Also, maybe a dedication to David Crosby. CSN/CSNY played it more than Buffalo Springfield. Also, he filled in for Neil Young in Buffalo Springfield at the Monterrey Festival.

Its back this year. Free Fallin is shelved for I Need To Know. She's really mixing it up this year.

A dedication for David Crosby should be Street Angel.

I think any of the songs you mentioned would be fantastic! I’d love to also hear Think About It (a song she wrote for Christine), Nothing Ever Changes, Blue Lamp, Battle of the Dragon, and/or Ooh My Love. Long Way to Go is pretty underrated, IMO.

She has a ton of deep cuts to choose from, so I really hope she does at least two.

Are you thinking about seeing her live?

Yours are great too.

If she drops a new single Monday or announces that a new song/music is coming or will be performed on the tour, I'll definitely see her. Otherwise, I'll have to consider based on the info released Monday. If it's an album track tour, I'll go. If it's same as last year, no. I feel it's going to be a new tour and new songs because it's an arena tour.

sleepless child 01-22-2023 10:22 AM

I'm conflicted about seein her too. I skiped the Fleetwood Mac tour because I was so mad about Lindsey being fired and she didn't come to Pittsburgh last year. I wasn't able to work in my schedule to see her at other cities, plus the price for tickets was way off the charts. I would love a new album, but I think it's just a tour and if the set list isn't changing, I think I'll skip. I would love any chance to go to Vegas though.

There are definitely some pros and cons about seeing Stevie this year.

CONS:
- It may be a similar setlist to her last tour
- She’s older and it shows in her vocals and physical performance
- Some people are still angry about her role in kicking Lindsey out of FM

PROS:
- It may be a different setlist than her last tour
- Despite her limitations, she’ll probably give a good performance
- This may likely be the last opportunity to see her live.

I’m really on the fence. The only reason I’m even considering seeing her would be because, after Christine’s death, I’d like to see her while I can. I am so thankful I got to see Christine with Fleetwood Mac in 2019, but I really regret not seeing Buck/Vie live the year before. So to avoid that regret, I may see her this tour, especially since the last time I saw her solo was for Trouble in Shangri-La.

Ultimately for me, it’ll likely depend on what her setlist is.

I wasn't mad that Lindsey was fired. I went to four 2018-2019 Tour shows because I love Stevie and I thought she would do Tusk songs, Tango songs, and 90s songs.

After I saw the shows, I was mad that the difference in the setlist for me from tours with Lindsey was the pre-75 material and the 3 covers they did. That's not what I paid to hear. It also made me mad that there was not even a new single released for the tour when you have new members in a band. But I understand people also love the pre-75 material and are there to hear hits, even if they're not FM songs (DDIO, IGY, and FF are all hits)
Hence, why I now believe that FM lineup was just for a tour and that's it.

Now for me, I think it's up to Stevie now to really give a show for her die-hard fans. And if it's without a new song or songs, Carlos needs to remind her of the Enchanted Tour because maybe Waddy is creating the problem of keeping 10 constant songs in her set (Waddy wasn't on Enchanted because of his possession of child pornography)

Well, I meant that would be a reason some people wouldn’t see Stevie live, because they’re still holding a grudge against her. Just like a con for me would be if the setlist wasn’t different, a con for someone else might be that they’re still angry she had Lindsey fired.

I see. You know what's interesting, just an observation, Is that the music heard in the teaser for the tour announcement is Lindsey playing guitar

They didn't use one of Waddy's versions of Gold Dust Woman

Since Fleetwood no longer exists even as a cash grab oldies jukebox touring unit Stevie and her management may also be trying to fill that void to make even more $$.If you can no longer see Fleetwood Mac you can still see 'the focal point" and most famous member. She/they were pretty sharp about this when Christine suddenly quit and returned to England after just a few month FM tour in 1997. The Enchanted box set was rush released and Stevie promptly hit the road to a much bigger payday than her last solo tour.

They’ll always exist in our hearts

Maybe I’m naive about how these things work, but I really don’t think Stevie was the one who made that intro about the announcement coming up on Monday, or chose the music to accompany it, so I don’t think there was some sort of message she was sending regarding FM not touring anymore. Just my opinion.

The message is intriguing, I just wonder if it’ll be worth the hype. Using “gold dust” in the teaser makes me wonder how it’s connected to the upcoming announcement but I guess we’ll find out soon.
