"Just Because" demo

Is this a newly discovered demo or am I behind the times?

I believe it's from the bootleg "1979 Tusk Demos: Lindsey's Songs," which is an absolutely fabulous boot. One of my favorites. The two instrumentals are also from that boot. :)

Thanks! Are those instrumentals the same as the ones from the Tusk Reels Boot? I don't want to download the same stuff.

Ohh!!

I was gonna post about this and completely forgot. I love hearing stuff I've never heard before!!

sodascouts 08-22-2004 11:56 PM

Me too! And of course Lindsey gets half the lyrics wrong on his cover. ;)

I wonder what else is on this boot that I haven't heard? Dissention, do you have a track list?

shackin'up 08-23-2004 06:52 AM

great!!!

Well he sings it simply divine. And with humour. Who's playing sax here, lindsey himself, Chris? Of course his padapadapapapa's are out of this world again!

Here's the tracklist. I'm not positive that it's on here, I just assumed it was because the instrumentals are on it and they're all Tusk demos (plus a few odd Stevie songs):

Instrumental (aka "Song 7"-7/10/79)
Instrumental (aka "Song 8"-7/10/79)
Farmer's Daughter (4/14/80)
Tusk (rough w/ no vocals, 1/29/79) <--------I love this one.
Tusk (7/18/79)
That's Enough For Me
Walk A Thin Line
Lindsey Demo #1
Lindsey Demo #2
Lindsey Demo #3
Lindsey Demo #4
I Know I'm Not Wrong
I Know I'm Not Wrong #2
The Dealer
Sara
Beauty And The Beast
Joan Of Arc (3/9/86)
The Nightmare (3/9/86)
Storms (12/1/79)

I got out what I had of the '78/'79 mixes & demos, wondering whether I'd find these things from Neil's site. I compared everything I had that might have been the same thing:

"Song 7 (7-10-79)" (early "I'll Tell You Now")
"Song 8 (7-10-79)"
"Lindsey Demo #1" (early "Walk a Thin Line")
"Lindsey Demo #2" (early "Walk a Thin Line")
"Lindsey Demo #3"
"Lindsey Demo #4" (early "Walk a Thin Line")

The MP3 from Still Going Insane called "Unknown Demo #1" seems to be the same tune as "Lindsey Demo #3." Other than that, I think all those of those MP3s are different from stuff on my discs.

Thanks, David! :D

I'll have to download those other ones after all, dammit.

Mari 08-23-2004 12:31 PM

just downloaded it, I was going "huh? I know this song".
Right, from Mick Fleetwood's Zoo.
(without Lindsey though)

could it be from the same sessions?

Mari 08-23-2004 01:12 PM

thanks for the tip :)

I just checked the liner notes from Zoo. No clue if he played on it

Well he's definately not singing it  . This one's about 856% better. Mick would have been a real *ss if he didn't choose this version over the other one. So I don't think it's from those sessions.

nodmod 08-23-2004 01:28 PM

The songs came my way via a trade for this collection:

Fleetwood Mac - Misc. Demos #3 CDR
Behind the Mask. Lindsey instrumentals: I Know I'm Not Wrong, That's All for Everyone, Walk a Thin Line, unknown demo, unknown demo, That's Enough for Me, Lindsey piano demos. 8-7-79: I Know I'm Not Wrong, I Know I'm Not Wrong #2. Down Endless Street, Just Because, Isn't it Midnight (test), Seven Wonders (test), Wish You Were Here (1-29), Little Lies (instr.)

I will try and reduce the size of the piano demos by splitting them and post these soon. It's great to get some rare Lindsey stuff for a change.

Eh, Gerald... Mick is a real *ss
So that still doesn't prove a point :p
