Oh, it never ends...

From Jonathan Todd's latest fan club email:

"#2. FLEETWOOD MAC FACT CONTEST: Within two weeks we expect to post a game
of MAC FACTS on the Club Site. This game will have prizes for the first
400 members who get all the answers right! You can keep playing the game
until you win and if you’re in the group of the first 400 members to get
all questions right – you’ll receive a prize. We have some cool stuff for
these prizes. We found a collection featuring hand crafted Egyptian items
ranging from sterling silver earrings to ceramic necklaces to scarab beads
and bracelets. These items are made in Egypt and a portion of the proceeds
is donated to charities whose mission is to preserve the monuments of the
Ancient Land and to aid needy children in Egypt. If you’re a winner, we’ll
send you a prize from this collection. We’ll cover the shipping and
handling for all our winners too! Once we have our winners, we’ll move the
quiz over to the main Fleetwood Mac site for everyone to play – but without
the prizes! Stay tuned for more details. We’ll email you an announcement
when we begin the contest."

I am speechless. I'm sorry, but is this a Fleetwood Mac fan club or the QVC channel?

wondergirl9847 05-06-2003 11:44 PM

WTH?!?!?!?!?

Egyptian!?!? WTH is THAT about!!?!?!?

Okay, this is just NUTTY.

JT is trying to make FM look good by doing this charity BS. WHAT A SCAB!!!!!

Janet 05-06-2003 11:45 PM

I'm really really really fed up with this fan club. It totally sucks. NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL.

What a waste. Im so disappointed it makes me ill.

Yea, a better contest would be, who can make like a Mexican and beat the **** out of Jonathan Todd with a baseball bat piñata style. The first fan club member to crack the guy gets a nifty spleen and charcoal heart AND good tickets to the show! Now THAT'S a real game.

sparky 05-06-2003 11:51 PM

Wasn't the MF site offering some strange drawings awhile back ? I think they were Erte but my memory fails me. It also seems to me that there were some other arcane items he was hawking. Random. My money says these "prizes" are some lame ass keychains and 99 cent store reject earrings.

darklinensuit 05-06-2003 11:52 PM

What the HELL am I going to do with Egyptian friggin' earrings? I'm not into dressing like Stevie at the concerts or elsewhere
I'm all for charity, but wouldn't AHI or a leukemia foundation have been more in keeping with the "interests" of this band?
Why do I get the feeling Mick has bought stock in sterling silver. Hmmmm....

And BTW, I get an e-mail from the fan club about once a week. I didn't get this one. And when they do arrive, I get the same email twice. And you know what? I don't care. I've never gotten a helpful email from this club. Each time I see an email it just slaps me in the face as a reminder that I've been ripped off.
(Club Motto: Gift of Getting Screwed)

If I meet this Todd guy, I'll tell him just where he can pierce to hang this crap out of.

Cour 05-06-2003 11:57 PM

speechless! This man should be put in an assylum, please!!!

Is this one of the perks that the few believers have been holding onto?

Uh...I'm sure the guys are gonna be lovin the earrings and necklaces.

I think this is more along the lines of Sears or Pathetic Fanclubs Anonymous.

He has so much clout with WB and his fancy lunches with Mick that he could only get 2 cds and 2 posters out of them. I bet this jewlery must have set him back a good $50 at the local flea market.

Everytime you think this couldn't get any more pathetic and reach any new lows, it manages to reach deeper. Gee, there's how many more months of this tour left.

PLEASE... Stevie John or Lindsey, save the fans from this torture! I would say this gives being a fan a whole new meaning.

Can't wait to see what he's got in store for the people who were unhappy with the first presale. He did say he was going to make it up to us. Maybe we're getting personally monogramed Hefty bags or Fleetwood Mac Flip Flops.

wondergirl9847 05-07-2003 12:02 AM

LMAO!!! Yeah, I mean seriously, a poster of the band, an autographed SYW CD, a tee shirt, one of those Stevie necklaces with the S and dragon motif on it...SOMETHING to do with FM would be good dumb-@ss!!!! This guy must not even be HUMAN...he's too STUPID for that title!!

Okay...I've changed my mind. I don't want him fired. I want a drawing and the winner gets to string him up at the last contest and have a go at him.

Hey, maybe we're being unfair.
This new FM/QVC marriage is fetching.
I, for one, would love to have the chance to get my hands on my very own Chia-Stevie. I understand it makes a great gift for the holidays. Do you think they could manufacture 400 of them for me to win (each with a different Chia-Stevie hairstyle)? That would be so worth my fan club investment.
And while they're at it, maybe they could offer a Clapper that allows me to turn the power off on Mick's vest during each concert.
Then there's the Thigh-with-wooden-balls-Master.
Am I leaving out any other tasteful goods? Remember, this is for charity.

If ONLY a clapper would shut that spitting drum machine off! I say it's going to take a dozen hits with some rotten fruit.

I think "someone" (cough adminstrator cough), would be REAL interested in that Thigh-with-wooden-ball-Master. She'd be trading in her rehearsal tickets in a flash for a shot at Mick between her thighs. That's for making all of us read those disgusting remarks and fantasies for the last 6 months!

Well, I for one believe it isn't a party without PEZ. Get your collectible Fleetwood Mac PEZ people right here! (alcohol flavored PEZ) Only $99.99 with your membership to the SHAMclub. Oh, wait! Stevie Nicks bobbleheads!!! She'll rock out to the beat of "Gypsy." OR, we could have the Fleetwood Mac whoopie cushion. Instead of making a fart noise, it'll have Lindsey talking about Cycles for 38.6 seconds. Or we could have the stranger danger whistle. When you blow into it, it plays Silver Girl, thus making your attacker either wheep with dispair and run the other way OR fall to the ground covering his ears. Safety first people, safety first.

You're the best.

Cour 05-07-2003 12:45 AM

Sara---you're a jewel!

I've missed Janet and Judy, please post them!

Which one was the De-starred picture--- Janet?

If I'm forgetting any of the others, by all means, post them too! :)

SaraRhiannon 05-07-2003 12:49 AM

Sadly, I think this one applies to all of us. I don't think I will ever fully recover from being slapped down and losing my stars. :distress:

mchakram 05-07-2003 12:51 AM

I also find it interesting that Mr. Todd decided to describe the glorious scene of MICK's amazing drumming opening the show...geez, I wonder if the rest of the band has even met the guy. I sure hope not.
Peace,
Matt

Was there a picture of Judy Garland too? If there was can you post that one too!

Yeah, maybe the picture of the inside of the toilet on the private plane will make you forget the horror, humiliation and honor of being de-starred by Jonathan Todd.

glitter_fades 05-07-2003 12:57 AM

I haven't had a good laugh since you posted these at that OTHER place. Thanks! I needed that!

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-07-2003 02:23 AM

I thought this was hilarious!!
For example, we just
received a shot of the interior of the private jet that the band used to
fly to the Today Show.

LMFAO!! Oh dear god... I am distraught that I haven't joined!

Hey I bet people are beside themselves with excitement over on Mick's board thanking Knight for the wonders coming their way....

DownOnRodeo 05-07-2003 02:31 AM

Oh man - this is too much! I'm sitting here LMAO! But I feel so sorry for the poor Schmo-Club Members!
"The proceeds will go to Save Africa" (paraphrased obviously). PLEASE don't tell me that means the FanClub Members have to pay each time they enter the comp for the 400 pieces of junk that Todd has comissioned from his Cairo sweat-shop.
I can't believe he is doing this in Fleetwood Mac's name. Mick's name, fine - because Mick is fully responsible for what this creep does on his site ... but that he's taken over this whole FLeetwood Mac enterprise? It's not far from nauseating.

"These items are made in Egypt and a portion of the proceeds

Whenever someone honest, much less someone who already appears to be somewhat shady, says "a portion of the proceeds
is donated to charities" I cringe; I have seen to many organizations thorw a party using this line and give $.10 out of each dollar after costs.

Moreover, when they do not specifically name the charity is further heightens my suspicions. They could easily form their own charity, pay themselves a salary, and then donate the pitiful rest (after expenses which go to themselves) to some legit charity in Egypt.

I think this creep owes us a full accounting ( ).

"Within two weeks we expect to post a game of MAC FACTS on the Club Site."

Now why do you suppose it's going to take 2 weeks to post the game of facts? I suspect that Mr Todd does NOT know enough MAC FACTS to start this game so he's going to have to comb the Penguin site looking for those MAC FACTS.

Jonathan, you do know that the Penguin site is copyrighted so you wouldn't be planning on stealing the MAC FACTS from the Penguin site, the same way you stole the discography from the Penguin?

I've been LOL about his 400 pcs of jewlery. We can ONLY imagine the high quality of these items if "Jonathan Todd" is GIVING away !!!400!!! pieces! You can make your own calculation about what portion of the proceeds is going to make it's way to any charity. I'm sure we'll all be interested in seeing that receipt posted for everyone to see.

tamaraluvsFM 05-07-2003 07:54 AM

Sounds like to me they are getting desperate. More money needed!! I unfortunatly joined this "fan club" to get better seats for the concert which, like most of us, we got better seats with the general sale. I used to receive almost 4-5 emails a day from the fan club and now rarely get one. I think its cause I deleted all the other ones as I did not need to read the nonsense they sent.
This new "idea" sounds like a ploy to get more and I hate to say this..suckers..to join.
I did read one post where someone got their money back..is that true?

Uh,. Carne, whats so objectionable about helping needy AMERICAN children?

hows about we get FAN related things, huh? We joined a fan club, not feed the world, or save the pyramids....I have said it before and I will say it again I pick my charities....not Mick Fleetwood. That does not wash with me. I think an accounting is due too. But, remember, HE paid for them, not us...soooooooooooooooooo....

"Hello? Is this QVC? I would like 400 number 123 in size L...."

seeknpeace 05-07-2003 09:21 AM

Also, Carne, as this is an open board and not everyone wants to discuss if Stevie and Lindsey are still sneaking around, I would suggest to you that you avoid the topics that bother you and also remind you that the words that are most damning to Mr. Todd are his own. That is what is posted here in large part.

So, move on, and there never was a strike. A movement to right a wrong only, and we didn't strike, we were mistreated, kicked off, demeaned and defamed over THERE. We owe them nothing at all. None of this would ever have happened if Mr. Todd had been forthcoming way back when when we were all asking legitimate questions.

I know that you have posted that you like to stir trouble in the past, stir somewhere else please.

I know that you have posted that you like to stir trouble in the past, stir somewhere else please.

If you are going to address my question, that's one thing. But if you are going to dredge up whatever you've accumulated in your bag of perceived bulletin board offenses committed by CarneVaca, you might be just stepping into the precarious area of engaging in personal feuds, which I would remind you is against Ledge rules. I have nothing against you, nor do I remember your previous posts. It seems you have paid far more attention to mine than I have to yours and you are trying as a result to use whatever I may have said in the past to engage in personal feuds. You might want to reconsider your tack.

And by the way, you don't tell me where I can stir or not stir. Let's get that straight.

You got to be out of your mind. I am looking across the Hudson River from my office at ground zero and that whole mess was led by an Egyptian dare devil trying to fly a 767 along with a bunch of other Egyptians. How about helping our own children or better yet refunding the fan club members

Well, I am in Manhattan within walking distance and I still don't see what's wrong with helping Egyptian children.

By that rationale, we shouldn't help Southern children because a few Southerners made a sport of lynching black people? And I'm out of my mind!?
