Speaking of the ladies, what happened to Sara Fleetwood?
Is she still involved in Stevie's life?Anybody know what she's up to?
- Jake |
I believe Sara and Stevie are still friends ~ I remember reading an article saying that she stays with Stevie for about 3 - 6 months a year. But don't quote me on that ;)
|
Doesn't Stevie live with Sara and a couple other people at her house in L.A. when she is there?? Pretty sure that was in Harper's Bazaar a few years back.
|
She posed for Playboy and then dropped off the face of the earth. I highly doubt that she and Stevie still speak, let alone live together. :)

From 1997 Harpers Bazaar...i KNEW it,lol..and why would she not talk to her again?? Cause she posed for Playboy??? |
I do remember that interview well, but I was wondering since it's been six years, Sara no longer records or tours with Stevie, and she is mentioned in no recent interviews or album dedications. No explanations anywhere, & I'm assuming a Playboy model isn't one obssessed with privacy.
Maybe she's off cooking & raising dogs with Stevie's other best friend, Christine? - Jake |
You have a narrow view of Stevie
I think if you look at Stevie's history, she's forgiven her friends for all sorts of things, as they have forgiven her for many things she has done. As her friend Don Henley sang, "It's about forgiveness." Stevie's managed to forgive Don Henley. I think that's pretty amazing. I don't know that I could have done that myself. As far as Sara goes, she is working as a professional nurse. Sara Fleetwood actually posted on this website. If you read the petition for the DVDs on this site, you'll see she signed it. So she's been on this site, as have other members of the band.

Please fill me in on the Don thing. Are you referring to the abortion? What exactly did he do that surprises you about Stevie being forgiving? - Jake |
Don Henley gave an interview (GQ or Esquire, I think) where he talked about Stevie's abortion and how he believed she wrote the song "Sara" about it. This was years after the fact and I believe Stevie had some issues with Don about sharing such private information about their past together. Particuarly something as intimate as that!

This is so true,it is just that i want to hear it so bad live, that i tend to overlook this very, very valid reason.Damn, you Don:mad: |
From what I've heard in various interviews, Stevie holds grudges but they dissapate after about 10 years.
Also, from what I've heard, the whole GQ thing in 1990 wasn't what spilt up the friendship between them. When she married Kim back in 1983, she called Don to invite him to the wedding and he said some choice words and hung up on her. I guess he was really good friends with Robin and I suspect that that was what made them go seperate ways, the GQ thing only made things worse. Doesn't Mick have a daughter named Sara and an ex-wife named Sara (Recor) Fleetwood? I know that Stevie was pretty pissed with their marriage and affair. Lindsey himself has said that Stevie is very conservative, so I just don't see posing for Playboy sitting well with Stevie. Maybe they're friends again, maybe not. These are just my beliefs. :) |
c'mon gimme a break, as if she's in position to be judging anyone for posing nude after she's done that buckingham-nicks cover. your speculations are pretty dumb. :distress:
|
Well, I really don't think that Stevie would not speak to someone because they posed for Playboy/Playgirl.
I mean someone could pose nude and still be a virgin!! We can't say that for Stevie. I think that someone would have to do something really horrible for Stevie to be that mad. |

But he doesn't have a daughter named Sara. Stevie and Sara Recor met sometime in the '70s (coincidentally, Sara was married to Jim Recor at the time, who later co-wrote "Love In Store" with Christine), and they became close friends. Stevie and Mick's affair took place towards the end of his second marriage to Jenny Boyd, and eventually they broke it off for the sake of Fleetwood Mac. Mick then almost immediately took up with Sara, which had to have stung Stevie to some degree... after all, who wants to see someone they've loved, now dating one of their best friends. However it doesn't appear that Sara and Mick's relationship ever caused any tension between Stevie and Sara. Sara and Mick married in 1988, but divorced just a few years later. She then toured with Stevie in 1994, to promote 'Street Angel' (she also sang background vocals on several tracks on the album). The nude photo appeared in the February 1995 issue of Playboy. As of the 1997 Harper's Bazaar piece on Stevie, she was living in Stevie's home, and Sara is credited in the 'Enchanted' liner-notes in 1998, for designing the logo on the front of the boxed-set. Most recently, she was thanked in the 'Trouble In Shangri-La' liner notes. To the best of my knowledge, they've always been friends. :) |
Ruby!
That's the name of Mick's other daughter. I can't believe I couldn't remember that. |

Only partially true.He changed his mind shortly thereafter and attended the wedding. Also,Mick does not have a daughter named Sara. As for Stevie and Sara not being friends b/c of Sara marrying Mick or posing for Playboy,i think that is nuts.Stevie may act conservative, but she ain't no saint. She was with Mick when he was still married to Jenny..which isn't exactly high on the moral ladder..so,no..i don't think she is into judging people on that level. |

In the BBC Nicky Horne interview, she also talks about Don and how mad he was, but that's it for that interview. You're absolutely right about Stevie not being a saint; even Lindsey said he doesn't understand how she could her life the way she did and be conservative at the same time. I wouldn't say that Stevie doesn't judge people, though, or always respect them. Heard the Mark and Brian interview from SA era? She was pretty cruel when she talked about Prince; I hope to god he never heard that interview. I know that if I was him, I'd be flaming! LOL PS: Who is that girl that's singing into the hairbrush in the mirror in the book with Enchanted? I read in an FAQ that it was Mick's daughter Sara! I'm perplexed. He's got more kids than he knows what to do with!! |
I have a feeling the relationship between Sara & Mick could have affected Stevie a bit...there are certain lines her songs that I think could pertain to this. WISYA, has some sort of line saying..."When I see you again, will your very best friend be replaced by some other?"...humm, o.k....I may be reaching here, but I've just always thought of that song as being about that whole thing.
 Nae |
I thought Don Henley attended her wedding too! I could swear that I've read that somewhere.
But I'd never heard the story about him blessing Stevie out for marrying Robin's husband though! That's very interesting--maybe Stevie realized later that Don was right--that she was jumping into that marriage a little too quickly after Robin's death. But I think it's great that Stevie is still friendly with most of her exes. I still speak to most of mine but it took me a long while to get to that point with a couple of them! And back to Sara, here's my view, if she wanted to pose for Playboy while she still looked good enough to do it, go for it, at least it wasn't Penthouse or Hustler! It's nothing that I'd ever do, even I had the body for it, but if a close friend of mine decided to do it, I'd support them, because they were my friend. I doubt Stevie would dump a long-time friend over something like posing nude. I mean, if you've both dated the same guy and one of you even married him, and you're still friends after that. . . I doubt a little thing like a layout in Playboy is going to break up your friendship! And I think it's great that Sara has now become a nurse! Good for her! |

As for the seemingly contradictory aspects of Stevie's personality, I think it's very reasonable and completely normal for a person to do some "wild" things, while being conservative in other areas of their life. Aren't we all walking contradictions, if we really examine the way we conduct our lives and the choices we make? There are things that each of us have done or might do, that other people would freak to even know about... while there are things that other people have done, that would curl our toes. My aunt, for example, can curse to make a sailor blush... but she thinks 'The Simpsons' and 'South Park' are profane and reprehensible! One of my favorite sayings is, "everyone has to draw their line somewhere." And so far, it's been true of every single person I've ever encountered... and it's true of myself as well. |
Fair enough
have an interview from the Timespace era (I'll hafta look through my boots to figure out which it is) where Stevie says that Don didn't attend the wedding, he hung up on her when she invited him, and was furious that she would disrespect Robin by marrying Kim (he was good friends with Robin).
I am not gonna dispute a video...although if it was during Timepsace it is questionable..i KNOW i read somewhere that Don was pissed..but that he did eventually go..but whatever..and yes i heard that SA Mark and Brian interview..it wasn't labeled right and i thought for a minute it was current and i almost had a heart attack..but..at that point she was pretty f-ed up on the Klonopin..so that wasn't her true colors showing i'd say. |

BUT...Stevie changes her stories more than her underwear, so I guss we're ALL right!  |
LOL you all are too funny!
Sara Fleetwood is indeed the woman in the mirror / Enchanted booklet. I know Robin influenced many of Stevies song, definetly Gypsy ~ "I still see your bright eyes". Sara I believe was written about her true self. I had no idea it referenced her and Don. Who was the early pregancy with, Lindsey? Re: Goodbye Baby (possibly written in 1975 or 1976)? I need to mind-meld with Johnny for his knowledge, LOL! |

For a funny note on this thread, Wynnco (the online memorabelia dealer) is listing a wedding invite to Mick & Sara's wedding for bank.

Steive gave an interveiw to Playboy in 1982,She appeared on Chris Isak's very risque Tv show a couple of years ago.Not to mention all of her very wild activities in her younger years .so why would she judge Sara over posing for the mag? Also in the recent interview LB pointed out that he didn't think Stevie has lead a conservative life, god know that is true.Have some of you guys just become fans ?

Two questions:
Could anyone please explain to me the abortion ordeal, because I've never really understood what exactly happened? Stevie Nicks has implants? |
CROWN - in the Stevie folder, just a few below this one, go see the "Goodbye Baby" thread. That should help give some perspective on it.
From what I know of, she had implants around 1975-1976 and then removed them (what, late 80's? early 90's?)... |
|
Eaglemac, you've started is a new "rumour". Stevie did not appear in any of the Indiana Jones movies...the only recent "acting" I know of Stevie doing was Chris Issacs show where she played herself but running a psychic hotline...Also the Civil War version of Stand Back seems to be the extent of her "acting career". It is fun to watch as a fan but she's was totally right when she said the video does not match the song...She has mentioned a plan to do a movie about the Rhiannon legend as either cartoon or live action but it has not yet materialized.
