worst stevie mac song?

for me, there's no question that 'when i see you again' is the one.

chiliD 05-01-2003 02:04 PM

Pick among:

"Welcome To The Room...Sara"
"The Second Time"
"Silver Girl"

"When I See You Again" is close to being added to the above list

BlueGrass 05-01-2003 02:06 PM

Yeah, When I See You Again and Welcome To The Room are both horrid.

I like Lindsey vocals and guitar work @ the end of See You Again though.

gypsysara 05-01-2003 02:08 PM

For me, Silver Girl is one song I cant get into much, although I love how it was written by Stevie re: Sheryl.

darklinensuit 05-01-2003 02:38 PM

Affairs of the Heart.
I don't HATE it, but the grammar is distracting (and I don't fuss at "drownDed" in The Nightmare), the lyrics lack her creative voice, the vocals are worse than Street Angel selections, and the instruments on the chorus and bridge don't blend with her voice well.

At least WISYA is simple acoustic, and she's trying something a bit different with her voice (like pulling a box of used Kleenex through it). It's not her best, but it's what might be called a creative vocal. Different isn't always good, but it's new.
AOTH is too cliche to me. Get it off the box set! (7 Wonders & Freedom are much better.) JMO

To me, the worst is when Stevie's creative spark is obscured.

bootylicous 05-01-2003 02:42 PM

Yep I'll have to say 'Silver Girl', and I love 'Say You WIll' over all. Did Stevie really write it about Sheryl? (Like Sheryl wrote 'It's Only Love' for Stevie?)

Or maybe 'Freedom'...

Alison 05-01-2003 03:11 PM

I really don't like running throught the garden. It's to disjointed for me.
No questions asked, is a real dud.
Welcome to the room and When I see you again do nothing for me. her singing is grating on these.
All her stuff from Behind the Mask is lackluster, she needs Lindsey to bring out the best in her, providing that he is in a good mood.

Livia 05-01-2003 03:19 PM

Kick It - eeech! Actually, almost the entire Street Angel album...

The only thing I don't like about WISYA is the all the "what's the matter, baby" babbling...

Ali 05-01-2003 04:07 PM

I'm gonna have to agree with the majority of you on "When I See You Again"...I mean, how many ways can you really say "What's the matter baby?"

jeffles 05-01-2003 04:23 PM

When I see you again and Welcome to the Room.........Sara. Neither are absolutely horrible, but they are far from good.

those are two of the three songs of hers that came off Tango in the Night, and the 3rd song, Seven Wonders, she didn't even write. One has to wonder just how messed up she was at the time to make such a poor contribution to that album.

jmn3 05-01-2003 04:27 PM

In her defense, she was going through a hell of a battle at that time kicking Coke and then being on that Klonopin crap. Nonetheless, TITN would have been better sans Stevie.

WISYA..ugh...

Bleck...I don't like WISYA...the only redeeming quality to it is Lindsey singing. I even like Silver Girl better and THAT is saying A LOT about WISYA because I do NOT like SG!! :distress: WTTRS has never bothered me, I kinda like it...fun to sing along with.

Cristian 05-01-2003 06:31 PM

Used to be "When I See You Again", but now it's easily "Silver Girl". What a piece of crap.

golddustwoman77 05-01-2003 07:01 PM

I would definitely say "Welcome to the Room....Sara." But I do like "Silver Girl," it just took me awhile to get into it. I didn't like it right away. So for those of you that hate it, if you give it a shot, it could grow on you-----maybe.

LOL - I can't tell you how hard I laughed at that. "What a piece of crap." LOL.

lol. ok.. mine are:

EVERYTHING on Street Angel. (I'm keeping it for "collection completion" purposes only.)
Beautiful Child
When I See You Again
Illume
The Highwayman (sorry!)

I can't think of anymore right now. But ANY stevie song where she sounds like a goat - excluding gypsy - i don't like. I'm not a big Stevie-in-the-80s/Stevie-Solo fan.

FiercestCalmSea 05-01-2003 09:10 PM

That goddam Chimpanzee song. Jesus. I mean,i understand the inspiration, and long live Jane Goodall, but Stevie Nicks should never ever have the word "chimpanzee" in her lyrics, ever. :::shudders::::

macmar71 05-01-2003 10:41 PM

I love lots of her songs but here are the ones you won't find on my playlist

Running Through The Garden
Welcome To The Room...Sara
Love Is Dangerous
Paper Doll
Illume

secondhandchain 05-02-2003 01:56 AM

TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT...I love that review where the guy says something like , "she keeps singing , whats the matter baby until the answer is obvious" VERY FUNNY

goldustboi 05-02-2003 05:38 AM

Thats Alright is embarrassing. If I wanted to listen to Dolly Parton Id buy her Cds. But I dont.

Even Straight Back is annoying, its obviously a failed follow up to Sisters of The Moon. Altho gypsy makes up for these on Mirage.

WISYA, WTTRS.

Welcome To The Room...Sara & When I See You Again.

Silver Girl is an ok song, but it's just totally inferior, imho, to the rest of her songs on the album (which is currently my fav. Stevie-Mac album by far.)

Yeah, mine, too. Not counting "Silver Girl" & "Running Through The Garden" (which I initially liked, but find it really dull now...even Lindsey's great guitar solo can't save it, these days), Say You Will has the best sounding Stevie tunes I've heard from her in a couple of decades!!

FiercestCalmSea 05-02-2003 06:41 PM

Oh Wow..

Sarah can read..oh yes she can,lol..i just noticed it said worst Stevie MAC song...ok...so i get another turn :)

I would have to say...Paper Doll...i think it is just silly...compared to say...Rhiannon...

Sorcerer386 05-02-2003 06:50 PM

Hmmm...no wonder why they never did Welcome to the Room...Sara live. Kind of destroys my hope of ever hearing it live (although there wasn't much hope to begin with since it's obviously long forgotten).

ryan8472 05-02-2003 09:49 PM

I really can't stand

-WISYA
-Everybody Finds Out
-Paper Doll
-Straight Back
-Silver Girl

By the way, I really like No Questions Asked....don't know what it is about it, but I like it none the less.

SaraRhiannon 05-02-2003 10:53 PM

When I See You Again
Welcome to the Room, Sara
The Second Time

These are my three most HATED Stevie Mac songs. Oh, my bleeding ears. I don't like 'Silver Girl' either, but it's nowhere near as horrible as the above three.

Here are 3 songs that annoy me to no end...

Paper Doll
The Second Time
Freedom (The video equally sucks!!!)

I've been w/out cable since the late 80s (!). I've seen videos for Paper Doll (sucks) & Save Me (Everybody looks terrible - Has Stevie's chin ever looked longer?), but never for Freedom. Would somebody describe what happens in it & why it sucks? (I think Freedom is her best song on BTM, which is her weakest FM collection - yes, I prefer her Tango songs greatly to these, unpopular though this may be.)

- Jake

estranged4life 05-03-2003 01:33 AM

The video...

I have on tape shows the BTM-era Fleetwood Mac just "playing" along with the song, Nothing interesting at all...A really lame lip-sync performance video! (Think of the show "Solid Gold"!!!)

It was filmed for a TV Music show in Germany or Japan if I remember right. Trust me, You're not missing much with the "Freedom" video...Brian J.

The Tower 05-03-2003 03:59 AM

"Paper Doll" is the worst......

"The Second Time" is WONDERFUL!!!! "Freedom" is pretty good, too.....

buckmacnicks 05-03-2003 04:38 AM

I totally agree with The Tower, Paper Doll is the most horrible song she ever recorded with Fleetwood Mac. Of her solo songs, I think Alice gets first prize of being the worst song, it´s such a dragging monotonous song, truly awful!

markolas 05-03-2003 09:45 AM

This is tough...

I don't really care for any of her songs from Tango in the Night, except maybe "Seven Wonders" (and that's a big maybe). It would have been a better album if just Lindsey and Christine had done it.

I haven't heard Mirage (with the exception of "Gypsy," "Hold Me," and "Love in Store") or Behind the Mask, and from what a lot of you guys are saying, maybe that's just as well!

RavenOfRhiannon 05-03-2003 04:18 PM

Paper Doll...

I really like Stevie's Tango & BTM songs...

well, i can't say anything about BTM since i don't own it and don't plan to buy it, but mirage is a great album. even if empire state and that christine song at the end (hmm...forgot the title) aren't that great, songs like "eyes of the world," "can't go back," "that's alright," and "straight back" (as well as the three songs you mentioned) are well worth the price of admission. (you can tell by my avatar that i like the album!)
