fall from grace vs Everybody Finds out

Everybody finds out wins for me, I give them both 5/5 though.

I find them to be similar songs personally.

rianbay1 04-30-2003 01:42 AM

It's a close call for me too. I would say that I'm STILL slightly partial to "Fall From Grace"

Arghhh! What a tough question!

I can't choose. I love them both. EFO is like a continuation of the story, lol. They're both awesome songs....and I wish they'd do FFG instead of Stand Back and EFO instead of Rhiannon on the new tour. :D

I love Fall From Grace... but I do have to say Everybody Finds Out - WOW! WOW!!!!!!!!!! Stevie still ROCKS and that song will prove different to anyone who says otherwise!

GardenStateGirlie 04-30-2003 07:47 PM

Everybody Finds Out...I can't get enough of it. Truly one of Stevie's all time greats IMO

strandinthewind 04-30-2003 08:34 PM

I am probably the only person who liked, but was not in love, with Fall From Grace. It just did not do it for me in an extreme way musically. Conversely, I love EFO and think it is one of her best works in years and there have been many.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else get a Christine vibe in Fall From Grace - possibly referring to what went down when Christine decided not to extend the tour. Just a thought and my $0.02:cool:

gypsysara 05-01-2003 02:41 PM

I can see where you are coming from Strand. I love the kick and the lyrics, but I agree that musically it goes on one note for a while when Stevie is singing.

EFO - WOW. Again WOW!

My 10 yr old daughter, Megan Sara, listened to EFO for the first time and she just LOVES the old radio-LP sound when Stevie sings "Well I know you dont agree". In fact, lol, in the car this morning she was asking for just that one part! Too funny, my little gypsy is...

EFO is re: Don Henely, from what I can gather... any other suggestions or ideas?

tamaraluvsFM 05-05-2003 08:40 PM

For some reason I never really loved Fall From Grace. I liked the ending really, but the song just never clicked with me. I have to say I looooooooooooooooove Everyone Finds Out. I love Stevie's voice and I also love the background of Lindsey in this song!
This song rocks!!

I have always thought this song was about Christine. "It's not enough that you *Say You Love Me*", "the applause from it all was so defining", and not all the kings horses, not all the kings men could ever put FM back together.

sodascouts 02-12-2004 07:09 PM

Everybody Finds Out, NO CONTEST.

Johnny Stew 02-12-2004 08:22 PM

Definitely a tough choice.

Stevie's performance of "Fall From Grace" on the 2001 Blockbuster Awards was ferocious.
She definitely stole the show that night. :D

I think I have to go with "Everybody Finds Out" though.

"When nobody sees them... at least not together... She rarely goes out! She spends every day, waiting for the day... when everybody finds out!"

I would have to go with FFG. I have always interpreted this song (much to the chagrin of the 'shippers in our midst!) as Stevie taking what happened onstage during the Dance as a signal that there could be something between her and Lindsey again, but Lindsey not following through. I had a long interp typed up once...I'll post if I can find it. :)

strandinthewind 02-12-2004 09:26 PM

I just got the CM vibe because Stevie sings "Its not enough that you 'SAY YOU LOVE ME'" and that reminded me of CM as it is her line and SN said the song was about being in FM during The Dance tour. In the end, whomever it is about, she sure is sharp with her words - "Its not enough that you depend on me . . . " OUCH!!:D

Sugar 02-12-2004 09:33 PM

Yeah, a lot of people say that about the "say you love me" line, and I admit, who among us can hear those 4 words in succession and not think of CM? But I just don't think that's what's going on...I found that interp, and it's not even that long!

"There is so much going on/You could easily/Wake up with a stranger"...She thought something was going on, but Lindsey basically said it wasn't what she thought...leading nicely into...

"You say you wouldn't do this for very long
The applause from it all is so defining
Well it bounces off the wall at you
When the miracle is happening
High priestess...she's the keeper of the peace in this
Twice as much, intensified
What people will do
To get...this...high"

Sounds like he was playing up the whole "Silver Springs" thing
while on stage for the crowd, that the moment was too much for him to resist, and she believed it, but to him it was a show.

"And now alone in my room
As it all begins again
Was I so wrong
Why am I always so intense?
In this same place I sit
The same place as before
Well I came all the way here
Just to watch you walk out that door"

She can't believe it was all nothing; she took the effort to reinvest herself in him and she ended up "in the same place as before" watching him "walk out that door".

"I didn't ask when you shook your head
I always accepted what you said
As the truth and the truth only"

Again, he was acting the part, and she bought it...

"Well, it's not enough that you depend on me
And it's not enough that you say you love me
It's not enough to just save face"

...somebody wasn't following through on his words...

"Maybe I am calmer now
Maybe things are fine
Maybe I made the whole thing up
Maybe it isn't a lie"

...after she got the "Look, Stevie, things are never gonna be the same" speech. Maybe it was all in her head, but she doesn't really think so...

And another bit...

Or maybe it really did go a little too far, and Lindsey woke up one morning like "Whoa! I can't do this again!" Maybe she got all "Stevie" on him one night ("One night in a world of pain/ and you finally understand"?) and knew in that moment that "not all the king's horses and all the kings men could put it back together". And in that moment he blamed it on "Silver Springs" like moments on stage...I REALLY think there's some aspect of the concerts in here ("What people will do to get this high"). Didn't she once say this song was about touring with FM?

Just one reporter's opinion...

strandinthewind 02-12-2004 09:40 PM

Cool interpretation. That is what I love and hate about her lyrics, they can mean so many things to different people. One of these days Stevie and I need to have a long talk

golden braid 02-12-2004 10:07 PM

I pick Fall From Grace. At first I didn't think too much about the song but once I heard it live it totally kicked my ass. I think it's a great live song and it shows that Stevie still rocks.

darklinensuit 02-12-2004 10:18 PM

Neither for me. I think they're both overrated. I like them, just not as much as I like other songs. Slam away, but I'll take Running Through The Garden, Freedom, No Spoken Word, or I Can't Wait over those two rockers any day. No disrespect, JMHO.

I agree.

Everybody.Finds.Out.

That song completely blew me out of the water the first time I heard it-- and is sexy as all get out.

jadegypsy 02-13-2004 03:13 AM

which one?

I like both, but to pick one well EFO, just love that one part near the end with the drums. Funny thing is this was my LEAST fave song on SYW on the first listen, now it's in the top five, and I owe part of that to those on the Ledge who kept insisting it was a good song so I gave it a second shake. As for FFG I do really like it and I do think it is about the whole dance tour, but I think more Chris related (you said you wouldn't do this for very long, the applause was all so defining) although i can see a LB angle as well, but I think it has more to do with nothing being possible since he was going to become a father (not something that you plan), but then again with Stevies lyrics you never really know, h*ll I'd be surprised if even she could explain all her songs.

laurie816 02-13-2004 06:52 AM

Not too crazy about Fall From Grace.

LOVE Everybody Finds Out!!!

Stevies_clone55 02-13-2004 07:22 AM

Yeah Everybody Finds out wins it for me. But I do really love both.

P.S. I'm finally gonna see Stevie live!!!!!!!!!

June 1, June 5 !!!!!! YAY:nod:

DrummerDeanna 02-13-2004 08:34 AM

Yeah, Fall From Grace is okay....but it was never one of my favorites...

So...I would pick EFO over FFG anyday!

rhiannon1119 02-13-2004 12:59 PM

Although I love both songs, EFO totally knocked me out when I first heard it. It is just such an in-your-face kind of song. The way she sings it... full of attitude! FFG is also a powerful song for me, but EFO blows FFG out of the water. She just gets better!

Everybody Finds Out. Its just that Fleetwood Mac touch... :D

jwd 02-14-2004 12:28 PM

It's like comparing an epic to an ode, or the Beatles to the Monkees. Although "Everybody Finds Out" has its' lyrical moments, I'd take the narrative expressiveness of "Fall From Grace" any day. FFG ROCKS, with NO "cheese filling"! :D

Joe

darklinensuit 02-14-2004 12:43 PM

I agree that FFG has better lyrics.

- Jake

Cristian 02-14-2004 07:55 PM

Strangely enough because of an often overlooked tune called "Freedom", I believe "Fall From Grace" as a more Fleetwood Mac sound to it than "Everybody Finds Out", which, as good as it is, sounds more like a Stevie solo tune with the synthesisers and the percussion machine. Both have great lyrics but I prefer the agressive vocals on "Fall From Grace", so that wins for me. :)

Who's counting the votes anyway? Don't we have polls anymore?

Song of the moment - I'd Rather Go Blind

face of glass 02-15-2004 12:43 PM

I love both, although "Fall From Grace" benefits from being the only out-and-out rave-up on TISL.

And stuff like these two and "RTTG" are the only way for us to even get close to the original fiery intensity of the live "Rhiannons" and "SOTMs". You don't like them, fine. Have your middle of the road schmaltz any time of the day! ;)

J/k. And if "EFO" really sounds like a Stevie solo tune then I'd like more of that stuff on her albums. Funky sex noises and faux-synth ('cos it's a guitar) build-ups. Like Marcello Carlin wrote in his SYW review, it has the helium highs of the Associates' "Club Country" all over it.

argh argh argh.....

but i thought she was thrown down?

MASMAC 02-28-2004 02:15 AM

I think I'm the only person that doesn't love EFO. It STILL doesn't click with me like some of the other songs on SYW.

I'd have to pick Fall From Grace.

However, I've always said that EFO is to SYW what FFG is to TISL. They're both like these powerful rockers at the ends of the albums that come out of nowhere.
