how does say you will stack up against forme rMac records?
if you were to rank it in with the other Lindsey/stevie albums..where would it come in?
|
Ummm...this is tough. I think Rumours and The Dance tie for number one in my book....and Tusk and SYW tie for two. Ask me again in a month, though, and I'm liable to tell you something different. :D It's just so hard to pick a favorite Mac album/song...I love just about all of them!

I don't think I can answer this question because I'm still too captured by the newness of SYW. I can say at this point I think it blows Mirage, Tango, and Behind the Mask out of the water. Not sure about where it stands amongst the others though, just because I'm infatuated with it right now because it's so brand new. I guess only time will tell.

REALLY hard to tell
My fave FM albums are Rumours, Tusk and Tango tied at first, then Bare Trees and Future Games tied at second....I would say, SYW is now tied with BT and FG for second...LOL I cannot make choices, can I? Nope...never could. :distress:

Solely because of the youth in SN's voice prior to TITN, this is in last place. The writing, however, is way at the top.
|
My list:
1)Tusk 2)Rumours 3)The Dance 4)The White Album 5)Tango In The Night 6)Mirage 7)Live 8)Behind The Mask 9)Say You Will |
At the moment I'd say it was in second place, after rumours, althoygh this may change over time, with it being so new. Although SYW has a couple of crappies, the songs that are good are unbelievably good (and the same goes for the bad one, such as Red Rover - JMO!)

Here's my ranking
Tusk Rumours Fleetwood Mac Say You Will Tango In the Night Mirage Behind the Mask |
I really like SYW, and in my book it ranks pretty high...
1.Rumours 2.Tusk 3.Say You Will 4.Fleetwood Mac 5.Tango in the Night 6.Mirage 7.Behind the Mask |
I'd go...
1. Rumours 2. Tusk 3. Fleetwood Mac 4. Say You Will (could have been 3rd with some editing) 5. Tango 6. Mirage |
How does it stack up against former Mac records? It doesn't, imo.
My order: Rumours Tusk Fleetwood Mac Mirage SYW Tango The Dance kind of hovers between 1, 2, and 3. I excluded Pre-SN/LB FM because it's all great and there are so many eras. I excluded BTM and Time because I just don't like them. Sarah |
Rumours
Bare Trees SYW Fleetwood Mac Tusk Mystery To Me Tango in the Night |
Tusk
Say You Will Rumours White Mirage Tango |
my favorites were always Tango In The Night and Rumours, both of them i have GROWN to love, this album's different. i fell deeply in love with it from the first moment. i'm alot more than pleased with it, and i'm falling deeper and deeper for it with every listen. at the moment i'm still too shocked by it to give it a fair judgement, but one thing's for sure- it's definetly in my top 3 mac albums.
|
1. Dance/Rumours (tie)
2. Tusk/SYW (tie) 3. White/Mirage (tie) 4. Tango/Chain Live (tie) 5. Everything else I am not good at decision making! |
It's hard to say, because SYW is so new. BUT, as of right now, my rankings would be:
White Rumours Say You Will Tusk Mirage Tango And The Dance ties around 2 or 3. Definitely beats Tango and Mirage for me, and even Tusk by a smidgeon. |
Rumours
White Album Tusk Mirage SYW Tango - Jake |
TUSK
Rumours Say you will Mirage White Tango I am considering the album as a whole here.. not just how many "hits" there were..... The Dance doesnt count as its not a studio album :) Tusk was just pure Perfection... youthfull Stevie.. a very relevant Christine.... Lindsey going wild with creativity.....Tango had some good songs.. but was too disconnected ... Stevie was barely noticeable |
Here's my list
My favorite albums...in order. It was a hard decision to pick the best from the Lindsey/Stevie era.
1) Rumours 2) The Dance 3) Tusk 4) Fleetwood Mac 5) Tango in the Night 6) Say You Will 7) Mirage 8) Live |
Gimme about a year of listening to it...THEN I could probably give a more accurate answer...basically, cuz I'll be comparing it to ALL of Fleetwood Mac albums, not just from 1975 forward.
|
Say You Will can't touch the 70s triumvirate of Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and Tusk. (What album can?)
But I'd put it way ahead of Tango in the Night and Mirage. (And light years before Time and Behind the Mask.) |
Rumours/Tango
Tusk White Album Say You Will Mirage |
Rumours lineup only...
Here I'm doing something against technical stuff... I'm taking Behind The Mask even though it's not a Rumours lineup album (does not have Lindsey but Billy and Rick instead), and Say You Will even though it's not a Rumours lineup album either (does not have Christine).
I should order them like this: Rumours The Dance Fleetwood Mac Tusk Behind The Mask Say You Will Mirage Tango In The Night I think. For now. Song of the moment - Running Through The Garden |
It's *really* hard to do this. I'm pretty sure about Tusk & Say You Will being my favorites. I'm less certain about the rankings of the others.
1. Tusk & Say You Will (tie) 2. Rumours 3. The Dance 4. Fleetwood Mac Live 5. Tango in the Night 6. Fleetwood Mac 7. Then Play On (these are the only ones I've heard) |
Before this album it was:
1. Tusk 2. Tango 3. Mirage 4. Dance 5. Rumours 6. White Album 7. BTM I don't know where SYW fits right now because its so new and these other albums I have worn out. But I guess now its right at number 2...sometimes number 1 ( depending on mood!:) |
Just going by my current mood, and counting only the studio albums that featured at least four of the five "fireflies" as part of the main lineup....
1. 'Tango In The Night' 2. 'Say You Will' (I resisted the temptation to make this #1, given its newness) 3. 'Rumours' 4. 'Behind The Mask' 5. 'Tusk' 6. 'Mirage' 7. 'Fleetwood Mac' Numbers 4 & 5 flip-flop pretty easily though. And sometimes I actually find myself more enamoured with 'Mirage,' than with 'Rumours'... but that could be caused by burnout of the latter. |
My favorites are as follows:
1) Mirage- the first Mac album I bought 2) Tusk- Great songs from all the band members 3) Tango In The Night-which was the long awaited return 4) The Dance- Another return which was awesome 5) Rumours- Classic and Timeless 6)Fleetwood Mac Live-Kick A$$ versions of So Afraid and Not that Funny. 7)Bare Trees- Christine and Danny have some of their best work on this album 8)Say You Will- Nice but still very new to me and I know that someday it may move up this list in higher ranking |
Well Lindsey's GOS tracks have always been my favourite work of his, so couple that with Stevie's best work this side of Tusk, along with the very broad palette that SYW offers, and I rank it at the top:
1. SYW 2. Rumours 3. TITN / The Dance 4. Tusk 5. FM 6. Mirage |
