songs from new album!! available on win mx

Go over to winmx.com and sign up if you haven't. You can get 4 or 5 of the new songs there!!!!! Somebody has them in their Kazaa folder.

Can't wait to hear the ones I haven't heard yet!

FiercestCalmSea 02-03-2003 09:15 AM

are they playing though? Cause some other people found them but they were blank :(

tommer 02-03-2003 09:22 AM

yeap, in the last few days p2p networks has been filling with bogus FM files, supposedly from the new album, they are ALL BLANK. don't bother downloading them, i think they are being spreaded intentionally, whenever you find them it's always available for downloading from those users.

Christopher 02-03-2003 09:28 AM

This is a ploy they use to deter us...They will load blank songs with the same running time to throw us, or loop chorus' over and over....

SmthngOfADreamr 02-03-2003 09:43 AM

Man, what a let down :( Since when did FM become so computer savvy anyway???

BTW, I'd gladly settle for a looped chorus or two if they wanna toss it our way ;)

Yes, you brought up a very good point. I think what has happened is that the CD is probably going to start being mass-produced any time now (the fact that the release date was so recently given strongly suggests that this is the case), and it is standard procedure for Warner Bros. and other major record companies to flood all P2P systems with blank or looped versions of all the songs on the tracklist, in order to minimise the chances of the real tracks being mass leaked/sold in advance on Ebay etc etc.

A good plan, but what it ALSO does, in effect, is give us a confirmed tracklist months before the album is due!!;) Nice one Warners!!

what a bunch of dumbasses... at this desperate hour i will, but eventually, who's dumb enough to sattle for a 128bitrate mp3 files?
i just browsed at the liberaries of those who spread these mp3's, VERY suspicious. you can "find" songs from the new madonna album there too. it's not exactly an x-file to know what they're up to.
death to all music conglomerates!

Christopher 02-03-2003 11:02 AM

smells like a corporate rat!!

I remember last year at just about this time early Febuary....The record company began circulating looped choruses on P2P sites from the forthcoming SherylCrow CD due out last late April!!!-this is becoming all too familiar with big releases....Its the one thing they can control to flood up the system...then nobody knows which ones are the real songs and which are the bait.

I dont blame them really(but it still sucks)....I mean imagine how damaging it would be if all the songs WERE available for download already.
I guess 2 1/2 months is not TOOOOO long to wait .....(sigh)

SmthngOfADreamr 02-03-2003 11:09 AM

Yeah but if you think about it, we do already have something like 12 or 13 of those songs already in one form or another, so it's not so bad. (Although do you think tha WB realizes that?) I think I can wait out the 2 1/2 months.

I kinda have mixed emotions about downloading new music. Us diehards will definately buy the album, on the release date, with bells on. But for the moderate fan, hell, download it and forget about it. I would love to see this album do good with the sales, so I really hope not too many of the tunes are leaked. However, I'm obviously dying to hear them. I'm guilty of downloading music, but I can see where the artists are pissed off about it.

:laugh::lol::laugh:
Again, I see your avie Tommer and I hear the voice of Cartman, LOL. I agree, most fans of good music have discriminating taste about the quality.

But Maria has a point...if this album is gonna sell well, then more "moderate" fans need to buy it. I know the members of the Mac don't need the money (though I'm sure Mick wouldn't mind) and neither does their record label and FM doesn't really have much to prove... But wouldn't it be nice if a bunch of baby boomers who still rock beat the odds and despite lousy promotion sold amazingly well and got some respect from the superficial music industry because so many people love and relate to their music and are reminded of how cool they are? That totally happened with The Dance and I hope it happens to some degree again. Lindsey especially, I think, got a lot of much deserved respect after The Dance. I'm sure so many people became fans for the first time when their jaws dropped as soon as they saw him perform Big Love, and they were hooked!:D

maria and sonia, please don't feel guilty, music downloading is all music corperates' fault.
due to the fixed cd prices which were more than doubled when cd's became the only format, and the killing of the singles market, the industry wasn't even begging for this to happen, they MADE this situation in fact.
most artists can't say they support it, but the brave ones do, robbie williams is a good example.
i read an article by Moby, who said that he supports downloading for the sake of record companies' making lesser money!, he said that there is now too much money floating in this industry, the one thing we can be sure of, is that people will ALWAYS make music, whatever happens. but with the lesser money-making, this industry will shell itself from all those who are in it soley for the big bucks, this development could be just the thing to heal today's music.
i strongly support this theory. i believe that by downloading music i'm in fact SUPPORTING music, i now buy only singles (whenever available), and only albums which i checked already and know i wanna have in their legit-expensive form.

kristin 02-04-2003 11:31 AM

Yup....this is standard procedure for record companies nowadays with all of the money they are losing from burning and illegal p2p networks.....I helped monitor this stuff at my internship this past semester at one of the major record labels.....they are dead set on eliminating this stuff.....difficult job to do though......

Maybe your right, Tommer. Get these Backstreet Boobs and Christina Uglyhaira out of the biz for the $$$. Maybe it will heal the industry....

Rationalize all you want, but you, I, and everyone else reading this knows what stealing is.

If you don't want to or can't pay their price, don't buy it. Vote with your dollars. Your vote doesn't count if you steal it.

Even the poorest person in the world can afford self-respect. You don't even have to pirate it.

LOL
Tommer, you do raise good points. I never knew Moby was that cool. I know Neil Young was one of the first people to come out in support of Napster, but I already knew he was cool like that.
I found out about something really cool today actually...about a band called Soulive. I think the way it works is they encourage you to download their music and let you record their live shows (I hear Dave Matthews does that too), then if you like what you hear you buy the album, and it has a cd-rom thing which gives your computer special access to a private site where you can download more music and be privvy to special stuff. That way you get more for your $$, the record company is happy and the band gets $$ without feeling like their fans are getting taken for a ride.
I kinda like that idea.
