Lindsey on possible 2027 plans

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...se-1235605228/

I will grumpily admit that a reworking of Fleetwood Mac #XIII would be a better send-off for the band than the Finn/Campbell version, especially if John is well enough to take part. I understand that Lindsey has an ego too...

Having said that, it will all rather stick in my craw. In the unlikely event they came to the UK, I wouldn't go. Stevie denied us a final album with the FM moniker on it, although part of me might concede that what we got instead was improved by her absence.

Macfan4life 08-08-2026 02:02 PM

This does not surprise me at all. Lindsey has been dropping hints for about 6 months now. But I think its as ridiculous as Lindsey's firing was. Gosh remember when Mick said Mike and Neil were permanent new members and they were not "fill ins." But I have been saying this since 2018 that Lindsey would share a stage with Stevie again. I will also predict they will do Frozen Love and celebrate Buckingham Nicks in the set too. Mick and Stevie will say with a serious face that time healed the wounds and the public will eat it all up. Oh yeah the facial expressions during Silver Springs will be called authentic and dramatic. I can hear Stevie phoning Mike. Sorry Mike but I need to do this for Mick and he wanted Lindsey.

HomerMcvie 08-08-2026 03:26 PM

I probably wouldn't even go if it was free. Croak, croak, croak.

Or maybe they can lip sync like they say Don Henley is doing now. Even sadder...

Villavic 08-09-2026 12:15 AM

I wonder what John is thinking if he’s read those headlines suggesting possible reunions. I highly doubt the idea appeals to him. Can you imagine how he’d feel standing on stage and seeing that Christine is no longer there on keyboards? I wouldn’t want to cause him that kind of sadness; I hope his bandmates have considered that. Besides, it would be very sad for them, too.

Sheryl Crow is waiting in the wings plus her cousin plays bass.

DownOnRodeo 08-09-2026 07:02 AM

I haven't read the paywalled article, but if we follow his cycles theory through to its inevitable next phase, while we may well see a SYW-lite project and feel-good rapprochement of sorts, wouldn't we also have to endure the subsequent falling-out and ill-treatment all over again when the Wheel of Time keeps turning?

I can see where Lindsey is coming from. It's the same old stage in the cycle for him, with a nearly completed album of material and hoping to get it out there on a bigger stage. And wanting a chance to rewrite the closing chapter of the FM/BN story.

But I can't see where Stevie is coming from. Maybe she's grown bored of her solo shenanigans.

Or the two of them deep down just crave one more opportunity to get close enough to each other to keep twisting the same old knife.

I don't particularly want to hear either of them sing. I definitely don't want Stevie to write any new 'songs.' I would settle for a public apology to the fans and to the memory of Chris and the Rumours Five for the shameful past ten years.

Maybe Lindsey could ask if he could do some solo shows to support his album in between the Mac ones and see how that goes this time

I have a very large bridge to sell you if you think an apology is going to happen.

Macfan4life 08-09-2026 02:34 PM

I see headlines all over the web "Lindsey Buckingham says feud with Stevie Nicks is over."
Can someone please tell us what the feud was? Lindsey has always stated he had no idea. Mick could never answer the question either. Stevie says she could not stand Lindsey anymore but never any details. The feud is over. Can someone please ask them what the feud was about? 8 years later no one knows.
No one will ever ask because the answer involves arrogance and pettiness and no way anyone will use those words with Stevie in the same sentence.

Its hard to keep track of the lies. First Mick stated that Lindsey wanted to do a solo tour within the Mac tour so they let him go because of that. Then it was Stevie's manager said she would never be on stage with Lindsey again. Mick stated Neil and Mike were permeant member and would like to record music with them. Then Mick said after Chris's passing that Fleetwood Mac was over. Now this mysterious feud is over?
Someone must have promised them huge coin for the 50th anniversary of Rumours next year.

Shhh listen. If you listen closely you can hear Sheryl warming up in the wings.

That old bitch would NEVER apologize. If they do reunite, they should just rename it Stevie Mac.

It's so tiresome. They fight, then make up and the cycle continues for years and years. Now they are pals again? WTF? Why does Lindsey even care at this point. I don't know what the state of his marriage is right now. I think he still wears his ring, but they aren't together I don't think, but I am sure some of their difficulties were from his not accepting what Stevie and the rest of the group did to him. Have some pride man!!

Tusk Lindsey would kick this pathetic Lindsey right in the sack. Because it's empty. Maybe he spells it LindsAy, now?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Macfan4life 08-09-2026 06:06 PM

Here is Lindsey on Entertainment Tonight discussing the concert possibilities next year. He is open to doing a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. When he said that I had a horrible thought. If they did that would they use an AI Christine on stage for a song or have her appear in the background. I hope not. That would not be proper but everyone has their opinion. I remember Prince's family was furious that they gave permission for a Prince tribute at the halftime show and they used some sort of sphere magic to make it look like Prince was playing the piano and walking. I wonder is Stevie is busy crafting new tributes.

I mean, even Lindsey was telling fans that he was planning on doing a mini-tour during the off nights.

And, Azoff was actually Lindsey’s manager, not Stevie’s, and was acting as the lead manager for the tour. And, Lindsey crapped all over the two big festivals he was putting on and had tens of millions invested in.

I have zero doubt that was true in that moment. I think it was Mick’s way of sweetening the pot to get Stevie on board with another Fleetwood Mac album. Plus, why wouldn’t he want to make an album with them?

DownOnRodeo 08-09-2026 08:35 PM

They sounded rough at the Classic Crap concerts ten years ago. If we're talking another year from now, I would hope they do use lip synch, AI, and Abbatars, whatever it takes.

Their story shouldn't be an Apple TV documentary. It should be a Netflix "Black Mirror" episode.

Perhaps when he said "residency in Las Vegas," Lindsey meant to say "residential care in Los Angeles"?

I really doubt he'd want to do anything on stage again without her there. I don't think they'd push him to do anything, though... maybe they'd extend an invitation to be polite and then understand if it's not up his alley. but yes i feel the same, that it would be painful for him.

not so sure it would cause lindsey and stevie much sadness, to be honest. and mick would prob get over any pangs of sadness quickly.

Sheryl plays bass too.

Regardless, it would be sacrilege to play a single show under the FM name without John. And John isn't going to do one.

Lindsey is trying to rectify the unrectifiable.

OMG I didn't see that coming. I laughed a lot!!!!

But you hit the nail on the head. This band is not the lovingest fightingest druggingest band of the 70s (quoting the RS oct 97 cover) anymore. Is the creepiest weirdiest band of this century.

sue 08-10-2026 03:01 AM

Maybe they should get together as Buckingham Nicks featuring Mick Fleetwood.
And perform as that.

Most of the original Fleetwood Mac is either not with us anymore, or won’t want to perform.
(Though the bass solo in The Chain without John wouldn’t be the same)

cbBen 08-10-2026 09:49 AM

Lindsey would do that but Stevie would not.

For Stevie, even touring under the name "Fleetwood Mac" may be less lucrative than doing so under her own name (it's probably at least competitive). Touring under the name "Buckingham Nicks" for Stevie would, financially, be slumming it.

I agree, and thinking about it….touring as Buckingham Nicks would not make the kind of money as the Fleetwood Mac name would make.

But me, I refer Buckingham Nicks

bombaysaffires 08-11-2026 10:01 AM

Rush is currently on tour after Neil Peart died in 2020. He retired after their 2015-6 tour. They have gone back on tour because it is their 50th anniversary and they wanted to go out on a proper "farewell" tour which the last tour was not, and no one could foresee that Neil would get cancer and pass away (see any parallels?). Anyway they hired a drummer for the 50th anniversary tour and have carefully promoted it as a retrospective on their career as a band but also as a tribute to Neil (who was also their main lyricist) and have at various points in the show large pictures of him on the huge screens behind them and mention him at certain points and pay homage to him.... so..... someone in the FM universe could be watching that, along with as noted elsewhere taking note of how the Eagles continued without Glenn and all that.

Sadly this kind of thing has become normalized so they all can keep raking in the tour bucks. FM would totally do this (hell Stevie kinda did it with the Chris sh&t during her solo shows...oh, and Tom sh&t also...) UGH.

cbBen 08-11-2026 04:43 PM

The difference is Stevie as a solo act can make about as much money and be in control. She doesn't particularly benefit from being in FM where the money is split four ways and Lindsey as bandleader is, in that limited sense, her superior.

Very true. Many dates on her 24K Gold tour grossed the same amount as the On With The Show Tour. She would not do this for the money. She wont admit it but there is some guilt the way things went down. Plus Mick needs money again and realizes one last haul for him while making fans forget about her witchyness. All of it will be behind the guise of this is what Christine would have wanted.
Having said that I expect them to deep dive into Buckingham Nicks which would be something new.

It just doesn't make sense for her. And at her age, why would she want to do it, other than a one off.

I’ve said Stevie’s been a bigger name than Fleetwood Mac for a few years now. But I wonder: why are Rumours and Greatest Hits always on the Billboard 200 album chart and not Bella Donna, Crystal Visions, TimeSpace, The Wild Heart, or Stand Back 1981-2017? Is it because people are buying the FM albums for Christine songs and not Stevie’s?

Because Stevie is the lead singer of Fleetwood Mac and dragged them on the charts.

And that truly boggles my mind. Not only is she minimally talented, and sings like an old goat with a nasal drone, the old thing ain't had a hit in 40 fukcing years! How did two hit solo albums, from 45 and 43 years ago, equate to a lifetime career?

I'll tell ya- there's no accounting for taste. I've got a friend who's probably 70, and she named her daughter Stevie, and spews hippy dippy garbage from her mouth, 24/7. I wanna slap the crap outta her. I think that's Stevie's audience.
Stevie appeals to the lowest common denominator.

Stevie has worked the hardest and longest at crafting a public image. She craves attention and always did and worked at a very distinct visual image and vibe. Lindsey mostly hid in the studio and that's what people think of with him, and Chris was not out in sexy clothes and dating famous men and getting her name in the gossip columns daily starting in the 70s. Even Chris said when she returned that Stevie has her own "brand" and has worked very hard to create it. So of course Stevie is the most famous.

You're right in a way.... the mainstream bought/buys FM albums for the catchy songs they know, and more of those belong to Chris than anyone else in the band. They buy FM albums for the creative arrangements and production that Lindsey brings to the songs (especially Stevie's). FM albums are timeless.........

You meant singles, didn't you? Cause albums contains the same songs in every country.

Except for compilations, it's not unusual for those to vary; I've seen some cases.

Yeah- Stevies tours over the years will have raked in as much money as FM. But any 2027 tour would beat out anything that has gone before. One last tour…60 years of FM. 50 years of Rumours. etc. The demand would be huge. And the split would not include Chris or John. And let’s be honest, it likely wouldn’t be an equal S/L/M split. So she’d get a huge payday.

That said, people getting ahead of themselves. Lots of assumptions about a tour. Don’t jump the gun. We’ll get the documentary. And I can see a one off show (with special guests?). Maybe that’ll be it. Maybe another EP release. But maybe not the big tour being speculated. 2027 might be the disappointment 2017 also was.

HomerMcvie 08-12-2026 02:40 PM

I'd guess the split would be
SN 50%
LB 30%
MF 20%

Actually lots of assumptions about everything. We're living up to the title Rumours. Well, we are talking about Fleetwood Mac after all.

Lindsey has only hinted at a few things and said he talks to Stevie. He lit the fuse, and we're just following it to find the dynamite, if there is any. But you know, for me that's the best part of all this. There's been an increase in activity at The Ledge. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this documentary getting more announcement compared to others they've made in the past? I think it's part of a 50th-anniversary package. And I hope the rest of the package lives up to expectations, is high-quality, and doesn't feel contrived.

While I respect Lindsey as a musician and producer and do think he got a raw deal in 2018, he and Stevie are both self-involved enough not to register that there is any issue with Chris not being there. They'll project photos of Chris during Landslide and feel like saints for their tribute to her. Mick will find a way to get over it, by thinking about the cash.

I would guess it's more likely to have something like a residency at the Sphere -- it's enough of an "event" to make it more upmarket (i.e. $$$$$$) than a regular Vegas residency and has a bit more prestige. It's also less wear and tear than touring, probably nets more income, they will get private jet transport to LA in between shows as part of the deal, and it doesn't cut into Stevie's regular touring markets.

As for the why -- Mick wants to play and wants to make money. Lindsey would see this as redemption after being fired in 2018 and also has no other way to get before big crowds.

As for Stevie? It's a way to tour and make money without risking oversaturation of the touring market -- ticket sales for tours are falling generally because of the economy, but an FM reunion after 2018 and on the 50th anniversary of Rumours will sell, and it will bring out people who have seen Stevie recently and might not be keen to see her solo again so soon given ticket prices. And she can feel magnanimous -- she really did not want to own firing Lindsey, and it really bothered her when people saw that she was the person who ordered it. That is why the band told those ridiculous stories about him not committing and his solo dates being a problem, and it's also why Stevie's proteges took to attacking Lindsey on social media (first time anyone has cared about Vanessa Carlton in 15+ years). Maybe her onstage chatter will talk about how both of them were wrong and both of them behaved badly, so she can get Lindsey to take some of the blame.

They are nuts. Yet I don't know if I would totally refuse to go to a show if it were to happen.
