Fifty years ago tonight...
For anyone still counting, it's now half a century since Stevie and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac.
|
A historic milestone in the history of a couple of people we know and love!
|
Dear Lindsey, aren't you sorry you insisted on a package deal?
|
...and out of those fifty years, we got less than seven years of intense activity from that line-up, a little bit of recording for Tango and a couple of reunion tours. Such a shame.

Christine's original suspicions were correct. Another woman wont work in the band.

But I guess 50 years ago, Stevie wanted to be where she is now at age 76, playing in front of 60,000 people...in the daylight opening for Billy Joel. |

She wanted to be famous, whatever it took.... whoever's a$$ she had to kiss, whoever she had to sleep with, whoever she had to screw over, whatever loss of artistic integrity to chase trying to have a hit song...FAME. That was all she has ever wanted.

Coz Lindsey was SUCH a peach to work with...... Sure, he helped make hits....but his ego also took over and not always to the band's artistic benefit and certainly contributed to serious tensions in the band... Recall facts-- the tension in the band right from the get-go was NOT between Stevie and Christine, but rather between Lindsey and John, and Lindsey bossing people around and not respecting them as the talents they are. But sure, it was the women. |

Even Stevie called herself a house cat and she was only taken because they needed a guitarist that bad. These are Stevie's words, not mine. |
Fantastic merging of two entities that had exactly what the other needed.

So whatever you said, it's not what you think you said. You said two women didn't work. It actually did. |
The fiftieth anniversary of the White album will be July 1975, so I'm curious if another deluxe edition is planned to commemorate the event.

I was 13 at the time Lindsey and Stevie joined the group. They certainly had an impact on my cultural life:laugh:

You know, what did John McVie once say.. something along the lines of "we all have egos" so it's just as well to remember that. Maybe Stevie wasn't the only one who couldn't control hers on her occasion, but it's the sour aftertaste of the denial of a perfect sunset for the band that irks a lot of us here, me included.
Steven Hopkins' comment re the merging of the two entities that had exactly what the other needed hits it on the nail for me. Oh, for a time machine to see and hear those early days of 1975 or their imperial pomp of the next few years. We got what we got. I'm grateful for that. |

I believe Christine could see having both B/N in the band. She was open to it, and then when they started performing together, they all knew.

I think the date of the in-studio show was Oct. 23, 1975. The only thing better would be a show with some of the oddball inclusions, like “Frozen Love” or “Sunny Side of Heaven.” |

That said, my third favorite FM record is Kiln House. Good night. |

I fired up an old computer last night, and discovered TONS of........videos, that I'd forgotten about. Put them all on a thumb drive, and have them on the newer machine now!:wavey: |
That reminds me I had several MiniDV cassettes from early 2000s, that never transfered to digital files. I lost many home videos from parties and trips.

These are from the golden age of file sharing sites. You could find almost ANYTHING on there. I kept getting viruses from the downloads, so I eventually stopped. But man, there was some good stuff!!!;):angel: |
