Julie McVie passed away

Looking for any John info at the web, I found this recent article. I think she is John's wife cause somebody sends sympathies to John and Molly. Can't be a coincidence, unless that Patty Brucker is just a fan and is wrong about the identity of this Julie person.

If it's correct, it's so sad John looses 2 important people in a relative short time.

Julie Anne McVie, age 72, of Los Angeles, California passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Wow, what sad news.

The Patty person sounds like she had some sort of business interactions with Julie; she mentions the name of some business and how nice Julie was to interact with.

Villavic 05-01-2024 03:38 PM

No member (Lindsey, Mick, Stevie) has posted anything about it in their networks, but since John is so discreet, silence can be at his request.

SteveMacD 05-01-2024 04:05 PM

Her middle name is/was Ann.

sleepless child 05-01-2024 04:19 PM

This is horrible news if this is John's wife Julie. Poor John

Penguin Emeritus 05-01-2024 04:25 PM

ugh. so very sad to lose two people so dear to you in 18 months. very sad for molly as well. my heart hurts for him. :(

they just had their 45th anniversary in april, too.

Aww. Bad news. Sorry to hear this Johnny-boy. Thoughts are with you and Molly, mate.

Coincidentally, Mick just posted today about a guitarist passing, Duane Eddy. So he is active in his networks.

Duane Eddy was a friend of Mick’s, IIRC. He was married to singer Mirriam Johnson. She ended up joining his band and changed her name to Mirriam Eddy. After they divorced, she moved to Nashville and changed her name again, this time to Jessi Colter and went on to marry Waylon Jennings.

Very sad news. My heart goes out to John.

After a little Googling and looking through the 2019 Oceana tour book, Boulevard Management was listed as Business Management for the tour, and Patty Bruckner is listed as Executive Assistant, Boulevard Management, on LinkedIn.

UnwindedDreams 05-02-2024 05:49 AM

God bless John and Molly. That is tragic news. Such a young life. Rest in peace Julie.

sleepless child 05-02-2024 11:10 AM

I wonder why Mick hasn't said anything? I did a little digging also and saw that Patty was an Executive assistant. There isn't an obituary either. It's just posted on the funeral homes website

I'd like to hope that it's because he's being supportive of his best mate:(

Is Stevie still on the road? Wonder if she'll say anything (e.g., dedicate Landslide to her or something)

On the other hand, John being John he may not want a lot of press attention to this info and prefers no one comment publicly which would draw attention to him and his daughter...

I have heard the goal is to keep things private. unsurprising since we're talking about john. It was very sudden. 72 is fairly young.

I also hope mick is being a shoulder for john at this time.

Villavic 05-02-2024 03:42 PM

I tend to believe that John has asked to handle it privately.

Lindsey hasn't said anything either, and he just posted today another memory: On this day Fleetwood Mac played the Santa Barbara Bowl.

Is this Molly John's daughter?

https://www.facebook.com/molly.mcvie

Didn't find any picture with John, but she looks similar to Molly when she was a girl in Destiny Rules doc.

Yeah, but don’t contact her. Leave her alone. She doesn’t need Fleetwood Mac fans asking her questions when she’s dealing with her mom’s passing.

I did confirm it through another source that it was definitely her that passed.

Don't talk to me while you've got that in your mouth. :D

I actually have no idea what that is...

sleepless child 05-04-2024 09:01 PM

This is beyond sad. First his ex wife Christine and now Julie. They got married in 78. I still have clippings and the People story that ran when they got married. They were married for her 45 years.

I'm kind of worried for him. Not only did he lose those 2 women, he also had to sell his beloved sailboat since he wasn't in good enough health to really take it out anymore. i'm hoping maybe he still has just a little trawler or something to use for fishing because he loved to be on the water...what will he do with himself now?? He's lost his two dearest friends in the world, sold his basses and is done w the band, sold his boat, crappy health, alone now in that huge house...at least he lives close to his daughter but still...he's lost a lot in a short time. I hope he doesn't start falling down a hole psychologically.... :(

It's got to be a dark place to walk into, yet maybe he's okay with accepting it? Men are far more pragmatic with these things, generally.

sleepless child 05-05-2024 07:32 AM

I worry about him too. What does he do with himself now. Very sad. I read Leo Rossi's book. He was the stage manager for the band and for Stevie. He had high praise for John and it made me appreciate him more. An underrated bassist too

Men usually don't show their inner feelings. At least latin men don't.

that's true. that's not really healthy, though...i'm sure he wants to appear strong for Molly but it would be nice to have at least one person to cry a bit to. hopefully mick would possibly be that person now, although they live so far apart.

I kind of hope John spends time in Hawaii with Mick. Not that I want anything to come of it, but they’ve been friends for at least 60 years and closely tied for most of it. Maybe they jam, maybe they don’t, although I think it would help if they did. Ultimately, it’s a weird time in both their lives and they’ve gotten through a lot of dark times together.

The great tragedy of getting older is that those around you start to fall away; sporadically perhaps at first, and then it becomes something you see and feel more keenly. I always think back to Philip Larkin: “What will survive of us is love”. God bless John and everyone who has lost someone.

I like the Larkin quote…
I lost my husband nearly two years ago and that is so apt…
I’m sure John will be looked after, he has family and Mick is a good friend.

Sorry to read that, Sue. You find ways to start to cope with the absence, don’t you. I hope he manages too.

Where is Stevie when you need her. She was clutching John's hand during that trainwreck interview to launch the 2018 tour. (Until, as I recall, John managed to extract his hand from her grasp.)

Maybe a leisurely life of Netflix, naps, and the odd natter with Mick and others is all John needs and deserves after his long tour of duty in music and sailing.

Thankyou we had been married 53 ! Years…so life has changed ..
It takes some getting used to.
