Stevie replaced by Sting
https://consequence.net/2023/10/bill...24-tour-dates/
Billy Joel and Sting Announce 2024 Shows Together: See the Dates Billy Joel and Sting will share top billing for a pair of “one night only” concerts in Tampa and San Diego in 2024. The classic rock convergence takes place at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on February 24th and San Diego’s Petco Park on April 13th. Although Billy Joel and The Police frontman were contemporaries in the ’80s, the shows will mark their first time co-headlining together. Tickets for the Tampa show will go on sale Friday, October 20th via Ticketmaster. Seats for the San Diego date will go up for grabs on Friday, October 27th at 10:00 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster, with a Live Nation pre-sale occurring two days earlier on Wednesday, October 25th (use access code VOCALS). The tour coincides with Joel’s final run of performances at his long-running Madison Square Garden residency. Find tickets to The Piano Man’s remaining dates here. Meanwhile, Sting will wrap his ongoing 2023 world tour before hosting several shows with orchestral accompaniment in cities like Philadelphia and San Francisco in early 2024. Grab your seats here. In 2023, Joel toured the country on a shared marquee with Stevie Nicks as part of the “Two Icons, One Night” event. Check out our recap of the opening night here. ******************************************************************** Cue the conspiracies about a FM tour of some kind… |
Wow! Thank you for sharing this. I wonder if Sting sells tickets. I know The Police Reunion Tour did great.
Stevie has that rescheduled date with Billy in March. But this totally threw off my prediction that she’d keep playing with Billy through 2024. Mick: Stevie are you available next summer? |

My prediction: Fleetwood Mac is planning a short farewell tour in late 2024. Stevie will take some time off after her February/March 2024 dates, then head into rehearsal for the Fleetwood Mac tour that will run sporadically through 2025. Due to age and health, the tour will run a limited route similar to how Stevie has toured solo, with lots of time off. I've been saying this all along. |
Has anyone seen the numbers of Stevie's solo shows? She's probably making more money on her own than being an opening act. She probably hates doing it too. These concert promoters put these gigs together for maximum profit. Stevie did not need to open for Rod Stewart either.

I don't think that Pittsburgh show last month sold out. It sold well but not sold out. I think the big market arenas are selling out. Even The Forum show now has seats left. |
And Sting can still sing…
He has a new single out duetting with Pink and Marshmello. |

Seems like these co-headlining things with big male stars never really work for her....
The one that worked was with The Pretenders and it worked coz SHE was the undisputed headliner. Legends don't like second billing. |

I wonder if Billy's image on the video wall during the performance of SDMHA with Waddy on her solo tour will stay after the last Billy show in March! I really think if Fleetwood Mac announced a stadium tour with Bonnie Raitt or Sheryl Crow it would be bigger than these Billy shows. Even if it was Neil, Mike, Rick, or Billy as the male singer/guitarist as long as Stevie's there and they know they'll hear FM songs with Mick and John. |

The tour with Don Henley was awesome. It wasn't just singing one song, it was her and Don dueting on several of both their songs. This was one of my favorite concert tours of hers.

Has Stevie tour with Billy Joel been going well? Are they selling tickets?

Judging by the Ohio State show - I guess charging 150.00 for nosebleed seats a mile away hasn't panned out the way they thought it would in the long run. I'm shocked!

But of course, $tevie has always been a numbers gal. Selling out an arena at $20/seat would be an embarrassment for her, because "she's worth so much more than that". |
I'm really glad that I've become a fan of other bands that play much smaller venues and tickets are usually $20-40. The last time I went to an arena show was probably during Tom Petty's final tour. The nearest "shed" seems to only book country acts or cringe-y classic rock triple bills.

I too love finding great, unknown bands. Then I always get pissed when they make it big, because I can no longer see them with only 100 other people.
|
Yeah I just don't see how it's worth it anymore. I can get a hotel room in Pittsburgh and two tickets for a show at the Thunderbird Music Hall for the price of one Stevie ticket, before ticketmaster fees are added!
I give Tom Petty major credit - on his last tour we had nosebleed seats that were on the side of the stage. Those seats were $27.00 in 2017. |

Stevie and Sting. Weren’t there a couple of songs that were allegedly lifted from some Sting tracks? Edge of 17 and Bombay Sapphires?
|
She wanted him to sing with her on Bombay... but she says she chickened out. Her record company or managers or whoever also worked with Macy Gray and suggested they use her instead.
Edge of 17 is lifted from Bring on the Night. Listen to the opening guitar and drums.... Waddy even admitted to it once... he said in an interview that he listened to the Police and thought to himself "Gee we really are ripping them off aren't we" and then of course the inevitable walking it back because... someone was upset that he'd said it so he tried to pretend he didn't. I have never heard any leaked songwriting demos of EO17 so I do have to wonder if she was listening to Bring on the Night and started singing over their music (as she'd done with music by Prince, and Mark Knopfler and Lindsey etc) She's been lucky no one has called her out or sued her (or else they've done a really good job of keeping it quiet). Prince could easily have demanded credit on Stand Back, Lindsey could demand credit on Wild Heart...The Police on Edge.... it does look like she had to credit Mark Knopfler on She Loves Him Still in order to use it.... |

Waddy was not happy that Stevie led him to rip off the Police (see attached article). She was much more careful on her next album when she was going to rip off Prince but called him. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/stev...-of-seventeen/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz1mEMiNPHQ |

the 5:40 mark you can hear an early version that, if you ignore her dancing, shows how much they tried to copy the Police https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG3uqW7IyhQ it's also interesting that in the promo for the documentary on session players that Waddy is featured in, the bit they highlight is "his" riff on EO17..... maybe not the best example of his "originality" |
I dunno, I'm not into this tour. From watching all her shows on YouTube when I get a chance, she just looks tired and bored, like she just wants to throw in the towel and retire. Her mojo that had even back in 2014 is just not there anymore. Maybe she's just unhappy having to tour with another name like Billy Joel. She barely sang a duet with him like what 2 or 3 nights then stopped? I remember her tour with Rod and she was pissy during that too especially when Rod messed up her Leather & Lace lyrics and didn't practice.
She needs to do whatever she needs to do to make her happy and put the touring to rest so she can have more energy to do something else. |
Someone mentioned doing one more tour with Mac, but we all know damn well if Lindsey will not be there, it's not going to be FM. And even after all the crap that went down, do I really wanna chunk money down to see 2 people on stage who still hate each other and can't get along and didn't get a chance to do a proper farewell tour with Chris...I dunno.

Her setlists for 2022 and 2023 have taken Stevie two steps back from the advancement she made in the IYD 2011 and 24KG 2016 Tours. Even on the 24KG Tour, I noticed there was energy missing. No high notes in Stand Back, less high notes in Gypsy, slow twirls, the diminished kicks. Compare her energy with Debbie Harry and Mick Jagger who are older. Again, I say Irving and her team are running her like Elvis with endless touring with unreasonable ticket prices for a concert that is not special and contains two covers. I liked her singing the ballad with Billy Joel but that was done for one show. I think if stopped because she was too tired after her opening set to wait to come out during his. I think if she did a show with 8 rarities, people wouldnÂ’t care because they lap up everything she says. And doesnÂ’t Stevie have trouble seeing the audience because of glaucoma or something? I doing she can see them leaving their seats in the dark. |
Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks show just added in Chicago for June 21 at Soldier Field.
