Stevie and Dolly Parton New Collab
Dolly is doing a rock and roll album, and Stevie has done a song with her:

Am I right in thinking she wanted Dolly to sing After The Glitter Fades originally?
|
Yes, supposedly she sent it to Dolly in the early seventies hoping Dolly would use it on an album, and never heard back about it.
It seems like they have been circling each other's orbits for a long time without really connecting before now. A few years back Dolly made some really nice (and untrue) comment about how Stevie was such a fine songwriter that Dolly couldn't match her. I have never seen a picture of them together. Surely this collaboration won't have been the first time they have met, though? |

Is Stevie going to do 9 to 5?
I would love to hear her botch the lyrics to it. |

From Stevie on Facebook: "Happy Birthday to my new friend, Dolly Parton! Had so much fun singing with you!" |

I know this sounds really mean, but I've thought it the last several times I've seen Stevie--her hair looks like an unkempt rat's nest. It's just not working.

Does Stevie have running tights on?

But also, Dolly looks like she’s been unplugged from the matrix. They both need to take a look at their heads. |

Cool! And I liked that of all the guest artists she names (Paul McCartney, Steve Perry, Pink, Brandi Carlisle) around that 2:00 mark, Stevie is the one who gets applause!

Stevie's version:
Rumble out of that bed and head to the kitchen Pouring myself a glass of inspiration or something French.....champagne Stretching and trying to come alive Jump in the bath and my heart starts pumping People like me singing it to ya Singing it to ya What a way to make a living barely getting by all taking and sometimes giving Somtimes you get used and you dont get credit its enough to drive you wild...wild baby Singing it to ya for service and devotion what about a promotion moving forward but Mick does not seem to let me I swear sometimes that man is out to get me the sky never expects it working 9 to 5 I have know this much longer than I've known you I know what it sounds like working 9 to 5 I know what it feels like working 9 to 5 Say hey hey now This.........is........serious........ Would you like to say something to the audience? |

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for this session. Dolly seems like the type that she's going to do 15 takes until she gets the vocal just right...Stevie these days is not at all about that life.
She still loves to tell the stories about Don Henley and Kenny Loggins being task masters in the studio... |
If only someone could zoom in and see if some lyrics are on the papers on the board! I tried but don't have any good tools.

Dolly has stated that she wanted to use a cattle prod to get Linda Ronstadt to work during the recording of the second Trio album. I hoped that she saved that prod for Stevie because compared to her Linda was a pro and a workaholic.

I just read that Mick Fleetwood Will also be playing on a song with Dolly Parton. Interestingly enough, out of all the musicians they listed, such as Cher, Stevie, Pat Benatar, Brandi Carlisle, Pink, Paul McCartney, etc, Mick is the only non-singing musician listed. Well, Ringo Starr, too.
Apparently the name Fleetwood still carries some weight in the music biz! The obvious assumption is Mick will be playing on the song that Stevie and Dolly are working on, but we’ll see. Songs listed included Stairway to Heaven, Purple Rain, Freebird, and Open Arms. |
So it is all remakes. Dolly already did Stairway to Heaven on one of her excellent Bluegrass albums. I wonder if Stevie will be croaking along to Purple Rain since she claims that Prince offered it to her first.

My comment was not about wigs or extensions but more about being aware of how the whole head looks. Whoever posted a photo of these two ladies from behind in the studio… did them dirty. I remember when I was little and I learned that Dolly had fake boobs (she also famously said nearly everything on her was fake) and I was shocked — shocked. |

I love Dolly Parton. She is part of the American fabric. Can anyone imagine a United States without Dolly? I can't.

Pretty much every celebrity with long hair has extensions. Except Stevie, apparently, as I doubt they make extensions with that texture. If that's all her real hair, that's a sign of good health (getting all those vitamins) especially for a woman of her age. |
I hope Stevie and Dolly sing SOUL MAN by Sam and Dave, LOTTA LOVE by Neil Young, CALIFORNIA DREAMING by John Phillips, GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERS by Peter Gabriel, GET IT WHILE YOU CAN by Howard Tate, OH NO NOT MY BABY by Maxine Brown, UMBRA by Karnivool, or SENSUAL SEDUCTION by Snoop Dogg. Any of these would be dreamy.
