Christine has passed away according to her Instagram
Heartbreaking if true. Her verified Insta posted it though.

Words cannot express. What a great blessing that she came out of retirement to record one more truly fabulous album with her musical kindred: Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, and her ex-husband John McVie. Wish it could have been the beginning of many more.

I found cryptic this Tweet from Lindsey yesterday, though I thought he was referring to himself rather than to Christine: https://twitter.com/LBuckingham/stat...11326406905857

Devastated :( |
Sobbing in my office listening to "Why" on a loop for the past twenty minutes. And now I need to go be professional with people. God damn it.
|
I am just beyond devastated. She was so talented, down to earth, beautiful and a class act. This is news every fan has dreaded
|
This is heartbreaking news and unexpected. I don't know what to say. Just heartbroken.
|
Gutted, just absolutely gutted. I'm also not prepared to handle a statement from Nicks which will somehow be more about herself than Christine.
|
I'm completely shocked. I didn't even know she was ill. I hope she didn't suffer. Goodbye Christine.
|
Chris…..thank you so much xxx

Will always be my Song Bird. RIP Christine!! I always said that there's three women singers who are instantly recognizable the minute they start singing: Christine McVie, Karen Carpenter and Barbra Streisand. They are one of a kind.
|
I feel like I am in a dream. I was out walking the dogs in disbelief.
Thank you for the best playing and singing and for that wonderful sense of humor Your fans will miss you so much. For about 10 years after you left Fleetwood Mac, I would have a recurring dream of meeting you about once per year. |
I am absolutely devastated. I cannot believe it. What a way to end 2022. Just awful. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

9.45pm here in the uk.
Downing a bottle of wine, listening to all my favourites… Why, come a little bit closer, over and over, brown eyes, warm ways, spare me a little, mystified, wish you were here, show me a smile, and so on…. Feeling very melancholy. The family knows to leave me alone. Damn |
The river goes on and on
And the sea that divides us Is a temporary one And the bridge will bring us back together. Thank you for everything Christine. |
Pure devastation! RIP Chris!

My best friend just told me, in a very polite way. Cause she knows I'd be very sad. And I am.
|
There's no use in crying, it's all over
But I know there'll always be another day Well my heart will rise up with the morning sun And the hurt I feel will simply melt away You make me feel, I just can't carry on But I know I won't always be that way 'Cos my heart will rise up with the morning sun And the hurt I feel will simply melt away You don't have to give up Why is it all wrong Why don't you love me Why won't you just be strong |
That's the true end of Fleetwood Mac. RIP Fleetwood Mac.
|
No words. It’s so sad but I thank her and Fleetwood Mac for being the soundtrack of my life. I can’t tell you how many friends have reached out to me (Facebook) and said I was the first person that they thought of when they heard the news……well 46 years is along time. I saw Christine live many times of the years with last time on the Buckingham/McVie tour. RIP Songbird.
|
I’m so sad but I am more sad for the people who knew Christine McVie personally. Christine is more or less responsible for this wild and wonderful musical journey for me. The sun will be lonely tomorrow when it rises tomorrow because there is no Christine to shine on. Rest in Peace our wonderful and beautiful Songbird.

I think of the past owner of the Penguin, Lisa, and how much she admired Christine and the work she put into telling Christine’s epic story. |
I haven't posted on here in about 4 years. Popping in to say how devastated I am to hear of Christine's passing. I was in complete shock when my friend texted me the news. I've always dreaded the day one of them goes, but I never expected Christine to be the first. I know she was the oldest but still. I'm so thankful I got to see her a couple of times. She was without a doubt the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac. An exquisite musician, singer, and songwriter with a beautiful soul to go along with it. May her memory live on forever.
Angel please don't go. I miss you when you're gone. |
Looking at some videos from her last tour with Lindsey trying to find a nice one to post as a homage. We were all so very lucky to enjoy her talent.
Her legacy as one of the greatest female songwriter will remain forever. :distress::( |
In tears, absolutely devastated. I'm just so glad I got to see her perform with Fleetwood Mac and then with Lindsey a few times. I will treasure those memories.
Goodbye, Christine. |
It is indeed a miracle that she returned to the band. For all of those years it seemed like a certainty she never would. Then, the impossible happened. She left her dogs for us, We got stolen time.
|
This is the saddest day. God bless you always, Christine. I will never forget the show in Philadelphia, when Christine had returned to the band, and the deafening roar when she began, "Sweet, wonderful you..." Pure magic. My heart is broken.

In light of this other pieces also fall into place..... the whole auction thing now feels like proactively clearing out her estate. Looking at the auction website it struck me that clearly someone was cleaning out one or several storage units worth of stuff (honestly some of that stuff looked like it had been packed away for quite a long while....). Perhaps it'll be that she had an illness and was setting out how she wanted her estate disposed of while she still could... selling her catalog, clearing out storage unit(s), and all that. It also makes me think back to one of the last interviews that I heard her on, which was on the radio in the UK (someone on here will remember more precisely) where she sounded like she had a bad cold and also talked about her bad back.... And how in that interview or perhaps it was one before that where she said she didn't think the band would tour again (only to get smacked down and have to walk it back) I hope it was not a long protracted thing (having seen that up close and personal). I agree with others who have said how great that she did come back and she did get that last hurrah with the band and then with Lindsey. I'm so glad I saw them on tour together. Shame on you Stevie. |
I wonder now if maybe that's why Lindsey had cancelled his tour. I'm just guessing of course but it's possible

Christines’s passing and Stevie’s response
I’m very sad by Christine’s death. She was such a talent. As far as Stevie’s response, like always she went overboard. According to Christine, they didn’t talk a lot when not working, yet Stevie said she was her best friend in the whole world…While chatting with Rolling Stone, McVie spoke about the Mac's most recent members — Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House leader Neil Finn: “Those guys were great. We have a great time with them, but we’ve kind of broke up now, so I hardly ever see them. I don’t communicate with Stevie (Nicks) very much either. When we were on the last tour, we did a lot. We always sat next to each other on the plane and we got on really well. But since the band broke up, I’ve not been speaking to her at all.”
