Rest In Peace Christine

Farewell to our beloved songbird.

jbrownsjr 11-30-2022 02:26 PM

Wow, that's such a horrible shock. :(

HomerMcvie 11-30-2022 02:30 PM

I'm in the middle of a long drive. I'm without words. I've always dreaded the day this would come.

I'm at work and just numb and sort of in shock.

I'm crying on the inside.

GypsySorcerer 11-30-2022 02:42 PM

This hurts. What a loss. Fly high, Songbird.

tango87 11-30-2022 02:45 PM

Oh no, this is so very sad. Oh Christine.

Street_Dreamer 11-30-2022 02:45 PM

I'm floored... I don't know what to say.

Moz 11-30-2022 02:47 PM

Absolutely gutted.

Thank you, Christine, for all the music through the years. :distress:

Mr Scarrott 11-30-2022 02:49 PM

She sang once "there's no use in crying, it's all over".

I feel inconsolable, broken.

On Ice 11-30-2022 02:54 PM

I'm devastated. May our beautiful Songbird Rest In Peace and we enjoy the beautiful music she brought into our lives through the years.

mitzo 11-30-2022 02:56 PM

RIP Christine and thanks for the wonderful music you brought to us over so many years.

BlanketMan 11-30-2022 03:00 PM

Very sad... When I saw The Mac without her it just wasn't the same. What a talent...

KathyD 11-30-2022 03:03 PM

RIP Christine. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice and music with us.

Ulpian 11-30-2022 03:06 PM

I think I am in shock.

I loved Christine. She was my favourite member of the Mac. I thought she epitomised class and grit, in a particularly British way. I was so, so pleased to have seen her when she reunited with the band at the O2 in 2013. I will never forget that night.

God bless, Christine. Thanks for all the memories.

aleuzzi 11-30-2022 03:07 PM

I saw this post heading and was hoping it was not true. I'm in shock right now.

Macfan4life 11-30-2022 03:08 PM

So shocking and so sad. We must be thankful what we have gotten these past years. After 2004 we never thought we would hear her perform again. She came back and toured with the Mac on 2 long tours and did another tour with Lindsey. I never did think I would hear Songbird performed again when The Dance finished in 1997.

Its devastating for sure. I think she was the oldest in the band but she seemed timeless.
:(

missundercover 11-30-2022 03:08 PM

Just got home and opened Facebook to read the Fleetwood Mac announcement. I'm very sad. Christine gifted us some of the most beautiful songs. Thank you for YOUR music. :distress:

nicepace 11-30-2022 03:09 PM

She was my favorite member of the band by far. She had such talent, wit, and grace. She has never gotten the credit she deserved for being a real music pioneer -- a woman who sang, wrote her own songs, and played an instrument, in an era when that was mostly unheard of. May her music live forever.

jmn3 11-30-2022 03:12 PM

Wow. To say I was shocked when they had an announcement on XM would be an understatement. I just heard this five minutes ago as I was ending a long drive after spending the week at the funeral of one of my best friends. I thought I couldn’t get any sadder but here we are.

. Laura MacFan and I are devastated. We met on The Ledge and shared a love of all things Christine. We’ve been married since 2014.https://twitter.com/borowskiemily/st...Zs8P2NXc7Fhvqg

TrueFaith77 11-30-2022 03:17 PM

I will never get to see the 5 fireflies in concert now.

What a great blessing that she came out of retirement to record one more truly fabulous album with her musical kindred: Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, and her ex-husband John McVie. Wish it could have been the beginning of many more.

kak125 11-30-2022 03:24 PM

I saw the news on facebook and thought it was a cruel joke. I can't believe it!

I always thought she was in the best shape out of everyone in FM. I guess I just expected her to live to be a 100.

She will be so very missed. So glad I got to see her in 2018 when FM played Pittsburgh but I never thought that would be the last time.

sleepless child 11-30-2022 03:31 PM

Our beautiful Christine is gone. I feel like I lost a family member, but to us she was family. My heart is just broken. I am playing her music on Alexa right now.

sue 11-30-2022 03:32 PM

I couldn’t believe it at first…then my daughter rang me.
Shock to say the least.

I can't just yet. I'll die with her if I do. I need to wait before I play her music. uhhhhhhh.

I hope it's helping.

SNicksed 11-30-2022 03:37 PM

My heart hurts. RIP Chris... :(

I am absolutely devastated, along with all of you! I am younger, and they are my favorite band of all time. I was fortunate enough to see them three times; the best was when they all 5 were together again and prior to Lindsey leaving, in my opinion. RIP, Songbird. We'll meet again someday!

The Catdancer 11-30-2022 03:59 PM

Heartbreaking news. I'm shattered.

jcalzaretta 11-30-2022 04:14 PM

I have not focused since I heard over an hour ago. Mr. Scarlott. I cannot stop listening to WHY and it brings tears to my eyes. I am just devastated. I never thought Chris would be the first to go.

RIP to this wonderful singer/songwriter.

FuzzyPlum 11-30-2022 04:16 PM

There’s no use in crying it’s all over
But I know there’ll always be another day

I don’t know whether that’s the right sentiment, but it’s what sprang to my mind. I am truly heartbroken today. I knew this was going to come, and yet I thought it was still far off.
Chris, you had a great life and made a lot of people happy.
Rest in peace songbird xxx

michelej1 11-30-2022 04:23 PM

This is heartbreaking. I can't even begin to express how much I love her, how her music makes me feel and how much pleasure she has given me for almost 40 years.

reebokandlace 11-30-2022 04:23 PM

Goodbye

Goodbye beautiful songbird.

So sad to see her go.

DashingDan 11-30-2022 04:23 PM

Somehow Perfect weather

It's very rainy and windy in Boston, so it feels almost appropriate to receive such saddening news. I will drink a bit too much wine tonight, I can tell, and each top-up will be in honor of a unique person, talent, voice... :-(

Karlie 11-30-2022 04:26 PM

I’m completely in shock. I’d been dreading this day for a long time, but I didn’t expect it to be her, or now. She was my favorite member of the band and generally my favorite musician of all time. Words can’t adequately express the impact her music had on the world. When she came back in 2014 and I got to see her on tour several times, it was nothing short of a dream come true; I’m so grateful to have those memories, but I just thought we’d have a little more time. The chain is broken. I am broken. I don’t know how to be okay after this.

For everyone else on here who’s feeling the same way, you’re in my thoughts. In a community as devoted as this one, it hits so much harder than just losing a celebrity.

anusha 11-30-2022 04:30 PM

Her songs are the ones that really have the most generous spirit and speak to everyone’s struggles more than her own. I will miss her greatly. With this band, it has often felt like the quality of the music surpassed the character of the people making it. With Christine you always felt that she was as beautiful on the inside as her songs were on the outside.

FuzzyPlum 11-30-2022 04:49 PM

I’m sorry, but I really do not get Steve’s tribute. What in the name of hell has Haim got to do with Christine McVie. I know she means well, but come on……ffs!

What the heck am I missing?

missundercover 11-30-2022 04:58 PM

Listen to it - it seems to resonate with her at this moment. Not more, not less.

I'm in shock, I didn't imagine this would happen so soon.
