Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel concert
Music legends Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks, two of the most loved and universally respected entertainers of all time, announce one unforgettable evening of live music at AT&T Stadium on Saturday, April 8, 2023. The spectacular one-night-only show marks the first time the two have ever performed on the same stage in Texas.
Tickets go on sale November 11. |
Based on her instagram post it seems more dates are coming. I would expect 15-20 shows total but who knows maybe they will do 25-50 throughout April - August.
I’d go see this. I’ve never seen Billy Joel before. |
Another boomer fleecing scheme . and Stevie is prolific compared to Joel..he has not put out an album of new material since the early 1990s.
|
so who is the headliner--- Billy Joel?
Interesting that she would agree to be the....well, I'm sure they'll call her the co-headliner, but let's face reality.... someone has to go first and open for the other one. So is she opening for him? It's surely good money, and for the right money she'll share the bill with whomever. Not that she can't do that, but... after the whole top of the bill with The Pretenders, interesting. |
I think Billy will be the headliner. I think it will be like the Rod Stewart tour. She’ll open and play for 75 minutes or so and he will do a full set and they sing some songs together. Tickets won’t be cheap though.

I hate stadium concerts. Bad sound, band seats and weather.
Stevie will probably be the opener. Oh gosh she's gonna do her 24KG setlist again  Both these acts are huge draws. Mick is in tears thinking about the amount of money Stevie will make. |
I wonder if they’ll do a duet? I can’t see Billy singing Tom Petty’s part in Stop Dragging My Heart Around, but I could see him singing Leather and Lace.
However, a better song for them to sing might be Whenever I Call You Friend. That would be quite the surprise. I think vocally, Billy would be great on that song, plus it’s always a treat when a song like that is put on the setlist. If there really are more dates possibly scheduled for next year, Stevie should change the setlist. Adding this song would be a good start. |

Billy is far less arrogant than Rod. I cant believe how disrespectful he was to Stevie. He never set foot on her stage. Stevie had to come out on his stage to sing one of her songs "Leather and Lace" and him botching the lyrics as he read them from the monitor showed how much he thought of Stevie and her music. As a fan, these kinds of shows are a travesty because they are mass marketed to the minions who just want to hear the hits. Stevie will probably have a shortened set as an opener like she did with Rod. But this is what its about. Cash grab tours make tons of money. We are so thankful for Buck/Vie where most of a new album was performed in front of small gatherings. Just reminds everyone that Stevie does not need Fleetwood Mac. Sadly they "need" her to fill seats. Even with her ridiculous cut of 40% of Mac tour proceeds, she makes far more on her solo tours. Homer is frantically waiting for a Nashville date. The scarf is tied around the top hat and ready to go! She's refreshing on Ticketmaster now. |
I think she'll do the same setlist she's doing now. We're not going to hear Think About It, I Can't Wait, Rooms On Fire, and Talk To Me live again.
Weird that they didn't announce the whole tour. Interesting she did a song with The Rocket Man last year and now she's touring with The Piano Man! |

I bought for Christine against her toeses. That was my LAST FM show. The old goat got Lindsey fired, and that was the end of the band of my life. |

Here are more dates. I like that its not all stadiums. Its arenas and even Hard Rock Casino. Fans will always get a better experience in a smaller indoor venue. Good grief a Sheryl Crow appearance

Billy Joel puts on a hell of a show although I’m going off the one show I attended probably over 15 years ago and what I’ve seen of him over the years in videos. I believe like all the others in that age bracket, he’s a lot less animated on stage and singing in much lower keys than he used to. I’d almost be half tempted to see this given how good of a show Billy does and how his songbook is full of classics. But alas, it ain’t coming here and I’m not planning/booking travel to see septuagenarians anymore.
I’m curious where they’ll duet. Leather and Lace seems likely. But what song of his? New York State of Mind? Some of the lyrics of Big Shot would be on point. |

As to possible duets, I know one song Macfan4life would love to hear- Two Kinds of Love, originally performed by Stevie and Bruce Hornsby. Being a piano man, that would seem an obvious choice for Billy, except it was a bomb as a single. |

BTW, I saw on the back of the Stand Back collection, for disc 2 which has mostly duets, every song either says ‘with or featuring’ Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins, etc but Two Kinds of Love doesn’t mention Bruce Hornsby at all. Does anybody have any idea why his name was left off? Seems very odd. |

Something different instead of a soft rock show. |

Your description of the male singer was spot on, but I understand no guy in her band is going to sing any of her duets well, so my expectations are automatically lower. Maybe I should have said Stevie sounded fantastic on the song. I recall Waddy singing Stop Dragging My Heart in the past and while it might not have been cringeworthy, it sure wasn’t good. |

Believe it or not I think Billy Joel could get into SDMHA and Leather and Lace. |
I just saw their Instagram posts confirming they plan to “five to seven shows.” Joel will keep performing solo in-and-around their double-bill shows.
I saw her at the Xfinity Center (aka Great Woods) Sept. 19, and the set was a crowd-pleaser, but for a crowd 50-70,000 strong - not all diehard fans-, she will need to juice up her set. Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Rhiannon, Landslide, Gypsy, Edge, Stop Draggin', Stand Back, If Anyone Falls are sure things. Soldier's Angel has to go. Same for Enchanted, even though I know it's one of the songs that rests easily in her vocal comfort zone. When I saw her, she had cut Soldier & Moonlight, because there was an impending lightning storm and she actually started the show early. Shows that followed, cut Rock & Roll, Moonlight and re-added Soldier. For What It's Worth will probably stay in the set, but at least it's a very familiar song. Still, as someone who has seen her live about 25-30 times, I don't want cover songs. At Great Woods, there were 3 covers in a 16-song set. FWIW, Rock & Roll, and Free Fallin'. FF has grown tiresome for me. She should really re-examine Talk to Me, Leather & Lace, Sara, Seven Wonders & After the Glitter. I know I Can't Wait isn't going to ever happen again, but I loved it on the RAL tour. Her duet with Joel could be "Needles & Pins," which was a Billboard Top 40 hit (peaked at #37 on the Hot 100) for her & Tom P. in early 1986. I still have the 45. I know, not likely. |

She mentioned in an interview many years ago when she was practicing for the Vegas shows that it was practiced but did not translate live very well. Its not an overly complicated song if you tone down all the funky stuff. |
"I Cant Wait would be a great opener."
Yes, it would be. I love the alternate vocal takes. Dropbox link to all the single edits, remixes and ALTERNATE VOCAL takes: Alternate vocal takes #2, 3 & 4 are the ones you absolutely want. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/c8qfr...kb00v91fw5083s |

I didn't think she'd do Seven Wonders in a solo set, but who knows if FM will ever tour again so it's her song. I don't know get why she doesn't do Sara in her solo set considering she did it in 2007. So the Billy shows will definitely have: Stand Back, Edge of Seventeen, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Outside the Rain, Dreams, Gypsy, Landslide, If Anyone Falls, Wild Heart/Bella Donna, and Enchanted. If she's given a full set, the surprise songs will be the three covers: For What It's Worth, Free Falling, and Rock and Roll, as well as Leather and Lace (with Sharon and Marilyn), Rooms On Fire, and I think as you pointed out, After The Glitter Fades. |
August 5 at Columbus Ohio Football Stadium.
Marketed as "Playing All The Hits" I guess FM can't do a tour next year if Stevie's packing the stadiums. |
I don’t think they should tour….they are too old.
It would kill at least one of them. But 2 maybe 3 humongous concerts….(I don’t know the big stadiums, in the US, sorry) that would be a fitting, ending solution Record them and put out the best clips to make a farewell concert. |
Billy and Stevie - a great combination! As far as what they'd do together? Since Billy's band has performed "Whole Lotta Love" in the past (Feb 2022?), I could almost see this and "Rock and Roll" as candidates for "together" songs. Now THAT would make a memory for everyone attending these shows.

Not exactly duets but songs where Billy and Stevie and all the backup singers just go hogwild at the end of both individual sets. Cheesy, but it’s what puts the chili in the mole. |

Desert child, Stephanie, you can call me Stevie Arizona, Greyhound, moving to a new town California Dreaming, shacking up with Lindsey Fleetwood Mac, doing crack, letting all the fans down Welsh witches, waitressing, cleaning lady, woe is me Leaving Fritz, Rumours hits, I'm Queen of Rock and filthy rich Tusk flops, Lindsey irks, why must he be such a jerk? Bella Donna on the floor, I can't take it any more! I didn't fire Lindsey But my walls were burning When he started smirking I didn't fire Lindsey But now he is gone I can ramble on and on and on.... |

Billy has a high falsetto so I can hear him on Dreams. Perhaps Gold Dust Woman and Landslide with Billy too. But she did do a co-headlinging tour with Chris Isaak in 2007 and they never did a duet. So who knows if they'll duet! |
