Stevie on soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's Elvis
|
There was a time when Stevie could have sung a killer “Suspicious Minds” or “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”

Maybe this was what she worked on with Greg Kurstin last year.
Did Elvis cover Unchained Melody? Maybe she'll do that |
I think what JohnL means is, we can't go on together, with suspicious minds.

Michele- and for the record, he altered his post. It originally said, "this board will be a better place when you're dead and gone". |

But thanks for your support. :( |

Watch, she'll sing "Can't Help Falling In Love."

She sang the Elvis cover "Don't Wear My Ring" for the VH1 Divas Las Vegas special in 2008. Given how lazy she has become about recording anything new she may just formally release that one.

Surprise, Stevie's not singing an original song. She's singing a song called "Cotton Candy Land" with Chris Isaak.
|
Stevie is singing a duet with Chris Isaak called Cotton Candy Land. Here is the original. Its different.

Wow Stevie’s voice sounds super rough on that 30-second snippet that was posted. I wonder if she chose to sound like that all the way through.

I like how Stevie's voice. I this Chris' voice is basic and has no life to it. |
Yuk! Awful. Horrible. Won't be owning that one. Soz Stevie, but no...
|
It's thoughtful of her to count "One, two, three" at the start, to give you a chance to rush to turn it off.

I wonder also why her recorded vocals are not as good as her live vocals. For me hearing Crystal from Practical magic was a bit of a turn off. Her vocals were not that great. I haven't cared for her recorded vocals much after that.
|
She's really carved herself a niche of guesting on really unmemorable duets and I struggle to even call them duets. It's usually a verse and some harmony and thats it.

The clip is so brief that a judgment is barely possible, but I like those few seconds. I’m the opposite of sleepless child in that I prefer the studio vocals to the live vocals lately. The studio seems to give Stevie more dynamic space, and she doesn’t have to compete with a band onstage to be heard. Stevie and Chris Isaak have a nice retro gel. When she works with him on an old song, she puts aside her narcissistic “Stevie Nicks” thing (or the song puts it aside for her). Thoughts, JB?

What did you think of her duet with Henley “It Don’t Matter to the Sun”? |

I think she has a really strong voice. The tone quality really suffers from the years of all those "whatevers" we talked about in a different thread. I like her recorded voice better than live. I really like her on the Neil Finn track, "Find Your Way Back". As far as live goes, she still has the tone quality issues and then you have to add her intonation issues. Having said all that, if I could sing this functionally in my 70's, and my fans were buying it, I'd hire some writers (like she always does). Then I'd put out an album and do FINAL tour. |

Also I don't belong to any particular "clique" (this term feels a little "high school"). I think it was someone who had some personal issues with you and used the occasion to get back at you. |

Cotton Candy Land is posted on youtube now. I'll respect The Ledgie rules and not post a link to a current song.
