Poison's producer talks (Stevie Nicks mention)
Interesting interview. Poison's producer calls the band incompetent and not musically talented. They got access to a studio to record their first album because a "coked out" Stevie Nicks had the studio rented but she never ever showed up. So the studio members allowed the band to show up but they never let the owners of the studio know. They had no money to rent a studio and their first album cost just over $20,000 to record. He says "if that fat bitch ever showed up they would have to leave." No wonder Brett Michael seemed to be loyal to Stevie. The story I remember hearing was their tours crossed paths in 1986 and they had a brief encounter with her at an airport. But her absence from the recording studio led to their career and stardom. I would be loyal to her too. Interesting that the crappy RAL sessions indirectly led to more crappy music by other artists  BTW, I always could tell Poison's drummer was not a good drummer simply by watching their videos

Lol the stories of her messy debauchery from like 84-86ish always crack me up. Like this and the whole Don’t Come Around Here No More saga. And the mid 80s reels/work tapes where everyone around her in the studio just sounds exhausted. It’s like she either never showed up or showed up just to annoy everyone for a brief period of time and then leave.
She was just a menace to society for a solid 3 years  |

However the craziest story I ever heard from this era was from Joe Walsh himself. In 1990 Joe Walsh was on Rockline. Someone called in and asked him to tell the Stevie Nicks Kentucky Fried Chicken incident. Joe said that they were all at a party for a world premiere of a Prince video. Joe was with Stevie in the living room and while they were waiting for the video to come on TV, a Kentucky Friend Chicken commercial came on tv. Joe was specific that it was the one where the cub scouts come marching into the restaurant demanding chicken done right. Stevie thought his commercial was the Prince video. When she was told it was a commercial everyone including Stevie could not stop laughing. I wish this Rockline would be uploaded to Youtube. If anyone has access it was broadcast July 1990. It always made me think, how disconnected from reality could you be to think a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial was a Prince video. I can only imagine what Wham's security had to deal with  Edit: If anyone has the power or resources to obtain this interview from Rockline the date is: 7/9/1990 joe walsh / mick taylor rockline |
On a slightly kinder note……..tubby yes, FAT…..no not quite.

This producer sounds like a charmer. I guess he won’t be working with Poison any time soon.

There’s a picture of her at this very moment floating around. It’s jarring. |

I seriously doubt that photo is from 1985. Stevie looked nothing like that in 1985. The article about the book found a random photo of her implying such but Stevie is old and klonopined in that photo. Its not even close. Magazines post all sort of photos of celebrities from all eras about their life. Red Rocks reshoot and Big Love hair came after Betty Ford.
Seriously half of all online magazines do the same thing. I could post all day similar news clips of photos that are not related to the issue reported on. I see it fooling the average fan but not the diehards on this board. There are several clues from the photo that reveal its post 1985. Look at her dress. What is she promoting? Its the Big Love Dress that she wore in the 1987 video. 1986 was a hard year for year with a big tour party and she put on weight. Her face in 1985 was still thin. This interview is timestamped Aug 1985 which is when the Wham concert was. Look how thin her face was. She was not heavy and bloated and she was still doing those perms. The photo in the article is clearly post RAL tour. She is boated, she is wearing her new Big Love dress, and she looks so much older than this summer 1985 interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSfQqHSgQ0Y |

Unlike reverse cowgirl, I believe that position has already been filled. I AM a lame Chiffonhead! I used to be a really good one. Up until that Other Side Of The Mirror TURD. Then $he lost me... Team BuckVie all the way these days. |

That photo they stuck with the story is definitely one of Stevie with her Jose Eber hairstyle in late 1986 or 1987. Something about Eber, the stylist to the stars, was offputting. At Stevie’s Forum gig in July 1986, she and Claire Rothman set aside a chair smack down in front for Eber, who arrived late and left after “Beauty and the Beast.” I like to think he got sick of listening to Stevie bellow and preferred to have his hands in her hair. There’s a couple of photos of Stevie with the Heartbreakers at Compton Terrace on July 30, 1985, along with the audio, to give y’all an idea of what she was up to visually at that time. I saw her in mid-September that year at Universal but have no pics of that night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz1sT8D88G0 |

She lost that look thankfully for Seven Wonders. It was a brief look but I agree with you it was a horrible look on her. And correct, that is the timestamp on the photo. |

Is this the KFC commercial she thought was a Prince video?
