Now we're talking! This sounds great. I'll be at the Houston show for sure!

So exciting.
Why was this chosen as the single? The most mainstream? |

I'm thrilled he's releasing the album. Give it up for elle and BLY for getting him to:laugh: Album was recorded in 2018, right? Wonder if he'll do a signing on Friday September 17 in NYC or maybe Hoboken, NJ. I feel like the song is a blend of his recent solo songs: Hunger, Feel About You. So I'm not jumping with joy for the song. It's like an honoring of Lindsey's sound. I appreciate the throwback to the kind of 2008-2017 sound. I hope the album has a different sound than this song. I've never heard Dancing before... is that the song from his 2012 tour? |
I just pre-ordered it. The first single reminds me of his Tango in the Night stuff.
|
hmmm, the first single is too sedate, and kinda boring, but it's an adult conetmporary release
|
Yes, it’s not even as hummable as Did You Miss Me. But I’m confident that there will be plenty of other selections to please me on the album and I’m just glad he’s getting it out there. Finally.

Blake Mills in the first few comments on Instagram... "where there's joy ,there must be sorrow, never far apart"
Of course he is able to zero in on something like that very quickly. This songs deserves repeat listens... |

OTOH I think the chorus lyrics weeping willow on my pillow and broken arrow straight and narrow are rather silly, even if I can find meaning in them. |
But that's always my favorite part about his lyrics! You can find a deep meaning in Holiday Road if you want... "I found out long ago it's a long way down the Holiday Road". One of the reasons i'm such a fan. There is a level of humility in it; not right there on the surface. Spend some time with it, and you may get something great out of it!

New piece in Rolling Stone about the album and tour.
This is interesting, in view of other reports (see the TMZ thread): “‘I Don’t Mind’, like many of the songs on my new album, is about the challenges couples face in long-term relationships,” Buckingham says. “Over time, two people inevitably find the need to augment their initial dynamic with one of flexibility, an acceptance of each others’ flaws, and a willingness to continually work on issues; it is the essence of a good long-term relationship. This song celebrates that spirit and discipline.” https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...-mind-1180312/ |
“ I Don’t Mind” is signature Lindsey Buckingham. It again reminds me how he is the genius behind many of Fleetwood Mac’s hits….this song could have been a great band track. I’m anxious to hear more of the songs. I’m curious about “On the Wrong Side” I would be surprised if it’s not his 1994 recording from the “With Honors” soundtrack.

I like the song (very much) but I’m not surprised by the song.
And it’s no Did You Miss Me! Quote:
_____ ETA: I love the song now lol |
reminds me a lot of BuckVie.
Wish the vocals were less breathy and more straightforward. Classic late-career Buck. Glad he's finally putting it out. That said, the graphic design of the website sucks. Sorry, but whoever did it should be fired. :sorry: |
The former Fleetwood Mac star will release his self-titled follow-up to 2011's 'Seeds We Sow' on September 17.
Lindsey has given fans a taste of what's to come with the release of the lead single, 'I Don't Mind', which is about "the challenges couples face in long-term relationships". In a press release, he explained: “Over time, two people inevitably find the need to augment their initial dynamic with one of flexibility, an acceptance of each others’ flaws and a willingness to continually work on issues; it is the essence of a good long term relationship. This song celebrates that spirit and discipline.” The 10-track record also includes a cover of folk group The Pozo-Seco Singers' classic 'Time', which he'd been planning to put his own spin on for years. On his intention for the LP, he said: “I wanted to make a pop album, but I also wanted to make stops along the way with songs that resemble art more than pop. “As you age, hopefully you keep getting a little more grounded in the craft of what you’re doing. For me, getting older has probably helped to reinforce the innocence and the idealism that hopefully was always there.” Lindsey sold his entire music catalogue to Hipgnosis Songs Fund earlier this year. Previously, the investment company had a 25 per cent share of the seminal musician’s catalogue, but the firm secured music publishing and songwriting rights for all 161 of his songs, including some he co-wrote during his time in the 'Dreams' group. What's more, Hipgnosis will also claim a 50 per cent share in any future releases by the 71-year-old songwriter. As a solo artist, Lindsey - who was fired from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 - has released six solo albums and three live albums, with his eponymous effort marking his seventh full-length release. In a statement about the acquisition, he said: “I was pleased to find a kindred spirit, someone who’s a big fan of my work in Fleetwood Mac, and an even bigger fan of my solo efforts. “I look forward to working with Merck and the whole Hipgnosis team going into the future, and am confident that my body of work will be curated with great heart and insight." Meanwhile, Lindsey is set to embark on a 30-city 2021 US tour, his first shows since undergoing life-saving open-heart surgery in 2019. The run kicks off at Milwaukee’s Pabst Theatre on September 1. Tickets go on sale June 11 at 10am local time. Head to www.lindseybuckingham.com for the full tour dates and ticket information. https://www.gjsentinel.com/lifestyle...5e1571e44.html |
why is the album no longer called Blue Light??
Here's the original song Time that he covers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UARjviT6UKw Time (Singers: The Pozo-Seco Singers) Some people run, some people crawl Some people don't even move at all Some roads lead forward, some roads lead back Some roads are bathed in light, some wrapped in fearful black Time, oh time, where did you go? Time, oh good, good time, where did you go? Some people never get, some never give Some people never die, and some never live Some folks treat me mean, some treat me kind Most folks just go their way, don't pay me any mind Time, oh time, where did you go? Time, oh good, good time, where did you go? Sometimes I'm satisfied, sometimes I'm not Sometimes my face is cold, sometimes it's hot Sunset, I laugh Sunrise, I cry At midnight, I'm in between and wondering why Time, oh time, where did you go? Time, oh good, good time, where did you go? Songwriter: Michael Merchant © Regent Music Corporation, Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC |

Does anyone remember when we first got word of a new album in the works? It's been so long, I can't remember how far back this started. Before Buckingham McVie?!

I liked the song on first listen and enjoyed the guitar sound which did remind me of Tango era or BuckVie. However I was hoping for a sound we haven't heard from him before. Shock me with something like Tusk when I first heard that in 1979. Show me what you can do that is different than you've done before. Seriously, I was totally expecting him to close out the song with the riff from I'm So Afraid because this song was so predictable.
|
He seems to be doing more praying to the Commercial Gods these days.

it's lovely, it's got its guitar hooks, but those vocals.....not sure how overall it will go with non Buck/ non Mac fans. |
You guys make me think that chiliD is right here with us. He was always telling us how Lindsey wrote the same song over and over again.
|
I found “I Don’t Care” pleasant and inoffensive, but unremarkable. I’ve only listened once so far, though. Perhaps upon repeated listens, it will grow upon me and I will find it as masterful as others do. Lindsey’s work seems to always improve with multiple listens.
I see “On the Wrong Side” is on the track listing. That has always been a favorite of mine. I wonder if he will have changed it much? It needs no improvement and if he is true to form, it will not be very different from the earlier release. Such a beautiful song. On the other hand, I hope he has improved “Dancing” from what was performed live a few years ago. It dragged quite a bit musically, IMO, although the lyrics were interesting. So looking forward to this new album! |

I dig the chorus but am bored by the verses. Love the layers of guitars and vocals. Nicely produced.
Re: the lp cover photo: Lindsey has really good bone structure. |
I think somebody asked what happened to the Blue Light title...Paul Simon kind of beat him to the punch and released an album called In The Blue Light in the period between announcing the album was ready and the eventual release date announcement. Maybe he didn't want to be redundant.
|
He should have named it Time…no confusion there:laugh:
|
I like...”I don’t mind”
It’s catchy, but an undertone to it.. I know it doesn’t sound like it, but it reminds me of ..Dakota..by The Stereophonics...I think it’s the rhythm. |
Given the rather lukewarm reception and comparisons to some of his more middling songs, I went into 'I Don't Mind' with low expectations. Yes, the song is sonically felicitous, but it has none of the cloying nature of some of the works it has been compared to. While this song absolutely does reference Lindsey's past works, I hear a lot more shades of Law & Order and Go Insane than I do the usual suspects like Tango and his 21st century repertoire. I normally cringe at his whispery vocals, but they are blended and layered sufficiently and just work here. I will admit to not being particularly hopeful about this new album, but I Don't Mind has changed that. I think it's a lovely song; aurally sophisticated, deferent to his legacy, but lacking some of the tiresome production gimmicks he tends to fall back on. Yes, this is a pop song and very classically Lindsey Buckingham... but it's also alluring and implausibly fresh. I can't wait to hear more.
