Stevie posts letter about Ruth Bader Ginsburg death on social media.
September 18, 2020
RBG, She was my hero. She fought for me, and all women. I feel today very much like I felt on the night my own mother died. I feel like someone punched me in the stomach. My tears have not stopped since a friend tip toed into my room and said ‘Stevie,’ Ruth died. (No need for the last name...) I so believed that she would live for a few more years. I wanted to meet her. I wanted to hold her hand and give her a huge hug and thank her for all she had done for women, and for all she would continue to do. If I lived in Washington D.C., I would be standing on the steps of the Supreme Court with as many long stemmed red roses as I could hold - and a candle. I will light that candle here, at my house, right now- and I will go find the most beautiful rose in the back yard- It is my great regret that I did not make the effort to go and try and meet her. As with all legends, you think they will live forever, so you will get there in time. I did not get to meet her. I did not get to stand in her grace. What a loss... She was a political rock star - As a two-time Rock and Roll of Fame inductee, the first female to be inducted twice, compared to 22 men been inducted twice, I Stevie Nicks, induct Ruth Bader Ginsburg into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of my life- She was our girl- Our champion- Our finest example- She was Ruth- |

------------------------------------------ At least she didn't make it about herself...:lol::lol::lol::lol: |

On another note, I’m really worried about our country. As if we haven’t had enough division, now we have her death adding fuel to a powder keg. I’m afraid we are headed for a Civil War. The timing of her death is very bad. I thought things were calming down a little and now this. The next three or four months are going to be hell. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 |

We've been on this path for more than 4 years. This is a bit more fuel on the fire, though. I can't wait for it to be over. As if it ever will be... |

Anyway, I have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach about Ginsburg’s death. Violence and rioting has already been normalized. This may push people over the edge. |
So what friend tiptoed into her room and gave her the news? I don’t think she was referring to Karen.
And no offense to RBG. It’s not as if my friends and I have not spoken about her a lot in the last three months and hoped and prayed that she could just hold on a little longer. We have. She is known and has been on everyone’s tongue lately. But if someone tiptoed into my room and said that Ruth died I would still go, “Wait, what? Who??” First I would think they were referring to a friend of my mother’s named Ruth and my next guess would be Ruth Wilson. I really don’t refer to the Notorious RBG as Ruth. But, if they shook me awake and said Stevie died, Stevie would be glad to know that the very first Stevie I would think of would be her. The next Stevie would be Stevie Wonder. |

I highly doubt Stevie wrote this statement but she may have approved it or saw it later. Its much too childlike even for her. But you never know. It would have been nice for the statement to throw in a few lines from Silver Girl. The last line should have read....she was our (silver) Girl |

Anyway, Stevie is getting a lot of attention for her dedication... hmmm... Ann Wilson is also talking about the Supreme Court... Clint Eastwood is talking unborn babies and the Supreme Court... What a mess!!!! |

And I doubt anything is too childlike for her. |
I'm so saddened to read about Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death.
To even mention Stevie's creds vs this amazing woman makes me cringe and quite frankly a little ill. C'mon. $tevie stop acting like a child. Me me me me me me..... Honor this amazing woman and move on. Step away from the keyboard you egomaniac  |

Her new album is behind Bella Donna and Crystal Visions on sales and it’s a brand new album. Even though it’s just a Live album it should be #1. Not good for her. |

I think the thought behind her letter was nice, but she always has to bring it around herself. I am still bewildered as to why she never said a thing when Keith Olsen passed away. Not famous enough?

I cringed at the wording as well but at least she's trying. I think in her mind it was a big compliment...

Many/most celebrities who actually tweet alot have assistants do it. There are actually classes in how a celebrity should tweet....not too much....and how often it should happen.
I don't believe Stevie personally wrote this statement. I say this not because I am defending her from arrogance but it's just odd and even with her arrogance, it still does not sound like her. I realize I am probably in the minority but she is too consumed with other things than to put out a statement. Didn't she take pride in saying she does not tweet, etc. That ending is just too much for me and is coming from someone really immature. It sounds like its coming from someone getting legs in the celebrity statement business. |

Wait, what?? I thought Stevie was already dead to you? How could she die twice? The letter Stevie typed was a perfect tribute until she added in that 22 men crap. It was such an eye rolling moment of embarrassment for me. |
There’s no doubt in my mind that she felt something. Still, much of this open letter sounds engineered to fit the zeitgeist. Stevie mentions her two-time RRHOF win in connection with RBG’s pioneering work for women’s rights. Her own speech at the RRHOF, however, was decidedly post-feminist. In her view, finding the right men were an essential part of her climb to solo stardom. And the last thing she said in that speech is how she has trouble listening to “another girl”....
“Landslide” was written for RBG and her death. Stevie realizes this now. |

. That was redacted from the HBO program, but I was at Barclays and heard it. She spoke in Donald-style before he and Chris Christie spoke that way:lol:, dropping SAT vocabulary words to impress when they popped in the mind. |

RBG, As a two-time Rock and Roll of Fame inductee, the first female to be inducted twice, compared to 22 men been inducted twice, Uh, Congratulations? I didn't think I could be more grossed out than when she fired Lindsey. I didn't think I could be more cringed out than when she rambled on like an incoherent, UNGRACIOUS loon during the Rock Hall speech. I didn't think I could be more creeped out than when she said she doesn't "agree with anything anyone says, especially when it's a girl." I stand corrected. Self-promotion on the coattails of the death of feminist icon and legend RBG is a new low. Jeebus. Yuck. |
She's such a pioneer of women's rights!!!:wavey:

Makes you wonder how she'd have gone if the world hadn't wanted to sleep with her... |
There’s no question she deserves the recognition she has received for being such an electric performer with FM and on her own. Nowadays, she’s very much the parody of that former self, but still, what she was was incredible and original.
But let’s not pretend she was a pioneer for women’s rights or that her message has ever interrogated gender stereotypes or broken barriers for women. She was a dynamic woman who happened to seek artistic and professional support from the men she paid and/or enchanted into doing her bidding. She has had her “girls” sing with her (to sound like CSN), she had a woman co-writer (Sandy Stewart), a woman who played congas and percussion on her first two tours, and a woman engineer on one or two of her albums. But wouldn’t it have been great if she built up her solo songs with women producers and musicians? Instead, each of her albums comes off sort of like a valentine to whomever she was involved with at the time. |
So you're saying she dated Sheryl Crow? ;)

I don't believe for a second that she's sincere about the Notorious RBG. If she loved her so much why hasn't she mentioned RBG ever before?? This is just about herself, a desperate attempt to stay relevant. I do not forgive her for having Lindsey fired, for giving Mick the ultimatum:"It's him or me?" Or for the fact that he nearly died and she never contacted him. She seems to forget that he made her songs into hits and that she needed his help with Soldiers Angel on IYD. She thinks she's the bomb when in actual fact she's a POS. |

I love when she says NOW how she and Chris had some pact about never letting men in the biz push them around and walking into a room all 'fierce' or whatever, but if you go back and listen to a lot of her old interviews it's not that at ALL. In one of her Bella Donna interviews she talks about dating JD and Don and being around the Eagles and how she learned very quickly "they were not interested in my career or FM at all" and that her strategy was to be "very quiet and unassuming around them and just trick them to death" ie charm them into helping her etc. Not very feminist if you ask me. And she's said a TON of sh*t like that over the years. I mean, jeebus, she let Jimmy push her downstairs into his basement to hide her away from Tom and she put up with it. WTF?? :distress: |
Huh?

Push wasn't meant that he made her tumble down stairs; push as in shoo, demand, direct, or force - not place his hands on her and thrust. |
Amazing how the threads in the Stevie forum are the only ones with any action here.
