Giving Stevie the benefit of the doubt
There’s once again so much bad vibes and negativity on other threads on this forum since reading the Lindsey/Rolling Stone interview...it makes me so sad to hear such nastyness directed at my goddess... especially at a time in her/their career when they should be sailing off in to a beautiful golden sunset😢....I hope some of us can rise above this... I will always worship this woman and can’t believe what Lindsey says is the simple truth...perhaps ‘I don’t want to know the reason why.... ? ...I just had to put this out there.... heartbroken of London England 😣

these people, all 5 of them, have dark sides, petty sides, bitchy sides, selfish sides. some just choose to believe only the dark about some and only the light about others. they're all terribly flawed human beings, like everyone else. |
The issue with Stevie I think is that too many of her fans have held her up on a pedestal where they see her as this elegant witchy rock woman who has survived a crazy life. And it's not like that's not true, but the thing is-- Stevie Nicks has been-- and probably still can be-- quite an asshole. You can admire her for her music and her story and strength but no one should really try to ignore that Stevie has done a lot of things in her life-- as have MANY others-- that are not exactly morally admirable. She's not a perfect person and she doesn't have to be but I think so many of her fans have a hard time accepting that Stevie has that side to her. She, like anyone else, does bad things sometimes and can be a diva or a narcissist.

Stevie has threatened to leave Fleetwood Mac so many times over the past 35 years. What is different this time? I believe the Buck/Vie album drove her over the edge. She also got very jealous when Lindsey and Christine wrote World Turning together. I bet if they sat and waited for her to finish her solo tour and not made an album, she would not have fired Lindsey. Its really sad that after all the Fleetwood Mac drama they could not do it one final album and tour :(

Doubt? What doubt?

when you're a public figure and have been in a massive band for DECADES you should be able to conduct yourself in a manner that doesnt turn 1/2 your fandom against you. i'm all for having a dark, bitchy side and stevie's flaws are one of the reasons she appealed to me but lack of loyalty and destroying a band (which prob at max has 3 - 5 years left in them) over actual PETTY $h!t gets no sympathy from me. she should have left. |

before every Fleetwood Mac tour she would say she and Lindsey had a sit down and worked on their relationship.
What the hell happened? This is just beyond sad. I love Stevie, but I have no reason not to believe Lindsey. He seems very honest in this article. I'm really broken hearted over this. |

As evidenced by prior posts, I've never been one to blindly defend Stevie Nicks. However, there are several amateur shot audience videos from Music Cares that show the entire band making fun of Stevie behind her back as she gives a never-ending acceptance speech (even in the minutes leading up to the "Mick and Chris Waltz").
For example, fast foward this video to the 4:25 minute mark and watch for about 20 seconds. It clearly shows the entire band laughing at Stevie, even Christine McVie begins checking her watch. These actions lead up to Mick and Chris waltzing to lampoon Stevie's speech. All of this behavior is carried on in front of an audience of thousands--including the national press. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM_Wonk4CNM My problem with this is that: 1) Lindsey does not appear to be the ONLY one smirking at Stevie's behavior behind her back--why should ONLY HE be chastised? 2) The truth is, these people obviously have very little respect for Stevie. Sure, I know the woman can talk forever, but they could at least cut out their s**t for a national audience. All are guilty here! |
The smirking thing was just one part of what upset her, according to the article. She was probably annoyed at Chris and Mick, but Lindsey doing it was just one more thing on that list that sent her over the edge.

or does she just control them better? |

Stevie herself makes fun of the fact in the speech that she talks too much.
If this is a major reason for her firing Lindsey, that is beyond petty. They were all making fun of the length of the speech. She needed a better excuse than that. |

Also, I'm glad to hear that just because someone says the politically correct thing so they look like a good sport, that they don't actually have to mean it. ;) I'll just leave that here... |

The problem in all of this is so many people rush to take opinions and comments as fact. Social media makes it worse. People can’t take time to wait for facts and the entire story to come out. It’s like a compulsion.
Anyone who thinks the full story is Stevie kicked out Lindsey because of a smirk and the intro song is smoking some seriously crazy stuff. The real POS (plural) are those who make rash judgements without facts, evidence, and critical thinking. |

It doesn't have to be fair or make sense, life isn't and doesn't. The band clearly opted for Stevie (if an ultimatum is what it came down to). They're a bunch of millionaire septuagenarians that can do whatever they want. And apparently what they wanted to do was go on a tour as Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks and two other dudes instead of Lindsey. |

I took a break from this place because the Ledge had become as toxic as Lindsey and Stevie's relationship, but popped back in to see what's up now that the tour is on. I thought it might have calmed down some...nope. |

Plus, I don't feel sorry for any of them, not Lindsey, not Stevie, not Christine, not Mick, and not John. Neil and Mike, actually I do feel a modicum of sympathy for, but not the others. Can you imagine making $14 million dollars for a 60 city tour? Give me a break! Of course, I'm contributing to their swelled bank accounts by seeing both FM and Lindsey LOL but I don't care one bit about the outcome of this lawsuit. |
The most telling piece of evidence of this whole thing is the press the tour. Stevie did not do ONE interview for this tour, other than the guest TV spots. I honestly can't remember the last time this has ever happened. THEY ALWAYS DO PRESS BEFORE A TOUR. No matter what. There are always interviews.
This time, not a single one. Makes you think. What doesn't she want to talk about? |
