Fleetwood Mac - Breaking the band premieres tonight
Saw the preview today on Reelz TV. Tonight at 10. If this has already been posted please delete. I did check but did not see anything. Here is a preview. It looks like they may re-create the Lindsey/Stevie fight in 1987. LOL Looks a bit cheezy but I will probably watch

So bad. Laughing hysterically.

I'm not sure this channel is available to UK viewers. Does anyone know if this Breaking the band series is available on any UK cable channels? Thanks.

The "actors" were really bad. Stevie especially. It was an older woman who looked nothing like Stevie. Ken Calliet was interviewed. Same stuff we read in his book. They totally skipped over Mirage. Didn't even mention it. Hardly anything about John, Chris or Mick. Focused on Stevie/Lindsey. I thought Greg Gorman's comments were interesting. Lindsey pretty much ran the show on Tango and he would sometimes scrap whole songs and start over. Stevie was never there and when she was it was hard to get much out of her and her vocals were really shot. The big "fight" was inaccurate. It showed Stevie running after Lindsey and he punched her. I can't believe they showed that. I don't think he hit her, he bent her over a car according to Mick in his book and they pulled Lindsey off her. Stevie said in an interview that she was attacking him also.

Imagine the actors listing this work on their cvs.

Are we sure he was interviewed especially for this programme? Could his sections have been culled from other interviews? If he did contribute especially for this programme then that's pretty low of him really. I know his name is already dirt amongst some of the band members but it'll be even worse now. |
I am still laughing.

Putrid on top of putrid

It was so bad it was almost good. Like a parody of those campy E! "documentaries".
|
I have it DVR'd for Thursday... Now i'm curious.
|
The same cast should do every episode no matter who the band is.

I think it's designed for boneheads who are sprawled out on their couch after having eaten a large pizza alone. It really contains nothing of any value. It's for when you want to kill an hour in the laziest possible way.

I actually was able to watch it. They start out by making Lindsey look like a psycho (Olsen comes off like he hates the guy) and then finish up by making everyone but Lindsey look like washed-up losers. No one comes out a winner.
Award for most annoying commentator goes to the long-haired lady who says "Stevie was fragile" about 15 times. The re-enactments - the poorly cast bad acting, the lame dialogue - oh my gosh. Yes, those are what makes this stand out from other poorly done "documentaries" as hilariously bad. |

I didn’t see it, but it sounds like it’s Ed Wood worthy.

I did not think it was as bad as some portrayed it. Any casual Mac fan did not learn anything new. If you were curious about the band and never a fan then maybe you learned something. It was the same stories we have heard a million times, the break ups during Rumours, the drugs, blah blah blah.
One thing that was mentioned that I forgot about was how out of it John was during Tango. I remember in Mick's book how John almost forgot how to play and took forever to get his groove back after sailing the Caribbean for half a decade. Here is the most interesting part of the show. The bald British guy who spoke several times during the show has written and interviewed the band before. Is he the guy that did those shameful interview with Stevie during her klonopin post Timespace era? He was a English guy who wrote bad things about her in the magazine interview and his interviews used to be youtube but some were taken down. He got Stevie to admit to her abortion and the weird stuff about her marriage to Kim. It was very sad. Stevie was so out of it and he clearly took advantage of her during the interview. Some segments of the interview may still be on youtube but the most shocking one was removed many years ago and never reappeared. Its obvious she said some things she probably regrets today. Remember when Martin Bashir interviewed Michael Jackson and to his face he was a normal interviewer but when he spoke to the camera by himself he was trashing Michael. IMHO it was a similar type interview. Anyway, is this the same guy? |
Nothing new, but OMG the cheesy reenactments were a hoot. The Stevie was pretty bad--at times it almost reminded me of an Amy Sedaris skit. I actually thought the Lindsey wasn't too bad  . Pretty funny experience with two glasses of wine and an hour to kill on a boring night.

But lets be real any re-enactment would be a hoot. How do you portray drugged out Stevie stumbling into Tango sessions? Its going to be cheezy anyway you slice it ;) I think the Ho Ho's would have done a fantastic job! |
The Breaking the Band episode is on YouTube! For those in regions who couldn't get to see it on TV.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/XQf7qAW2pdA And I'd just bought a bottle of red! Oh man, these reenactments. |
The Stevie actor in the Tango scenes is Amy Sedaris in Strangers with Candy.
Where is ledgie Josh from Columbus, he would love this. |
The directors/writers of this cheesy train wreck made Lindsey Buckingham look like a demon with OCD during the recording sessions. He would demand hundreds of takes. At one point, they claim that Lindsey became enraged and choked one of the producers/engineers when they tape was erased (at his request in the first place). Seriously?
And the look on that Stevie's face when the band gathers to listen to the finished"Tango In The Night". This show is hysterical! |

But if you thought this one was bad you should see the one on The Eagles. God knows Henley and Frey weren't saints but it portrays them as if they were Stalin and Mussolini. |
Ha ha ha. This was so cheesy and camp.
...but hey... I actually really enjoyed this. In fact I actually learnt something (if true). I hadn't realised John had such a difficult time nailing his bass parts for Tango. I was under the impression he came in early, set down his parts (without fuss?) and then went sailing afterwards. Overall I think things evened out. Lindsey's initial portrayal for Rumours and Tusk was very negative, but overall I think he came out pretty well as the driving force. |
Does anyone know when this will air again? I did a search on Reelz channel and it doesn't show it anymore. Sorry to ask here.

Yeah I searched for it also. I ended up watching it on the link above on YouTube. I liked it but the Stevie “actress” was hideous. The worst scene with her was when she was doing the “ promo photos” for Belladonna. I almost puked. It’s like they used a 60+ year old to portray a 40 year old. |

When I mentioned the story to my brother (who likes FM but isn't a superfan like me) who hadn't heard about it yet his response? "Lindsey IS Fleetwood Mac" Same exact quote from at least 2 other people. I was a huge fan of FM back during Tango and when the tour rolled around I had no interest. It's the 5 of them together that make it interesting. I did see them during the Say You Will tour. Something was missing. Again you need the 5. Stevie and Mick blew it big time. And I have to imagine they are starting to realize it. |
