Heartbreakers featuring SN tour brewing?

Twitter is heating up with the talk of a tour after the FM tour. Anyone got any leads.

dreamsunwind 05-09-2018 05:52 PM

I'm not sure how exactly a "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers ft. Stevie Nicks Tour" can happen if Tom Petty is dead. It's not like he's a random band member. He's Tom Petty.

ryan4136 05-09-2018 05:54 PM

It’s not a TP tour. It’s a SN tour with the HB playing backup featuring some TP songs.

jmn3 05-09-2018 06:08 PM

If true she finally gets her wish. Lindsey gone from Fleetwood Mac and she gets a spot in the Heartbreakers. I’d love to be able to hear what Tom Petty would think of all of this.

Rolling in the grave, no doubt. Nothing he can do now to prevent it. She's tarnishing the legacy of both bands. :distress:

In my opinion, anything involving "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers" is strange to do without Tom Petty himself.

jkmaletic 05-09-2018 06:49 PM

Sounds like garbage to me.

StreetAngel86 05-09-2018 07:11 PM

as if the remaining heartbreakers would actually agree to this nonsense]not to mention how the rest of stevie's solo band would feel

the fact that Tom never wanted her in the band
and now (if this is true ... but it sounds like crap) she's taking his band for herself ... is/would be pathetic.

LOL I was just thinking this...so she's now going to sack her solo band?

I’m sure Sharon, Lori, and maybe Waddy (they’d need a second guitarist) would be safe. I couldn’t even name anyone else, TBH.

I was about to say, they've all been with her for years, but, we know that doesn't really matter....Which begs the question now--is Stevvi Alexander getting the boot in this tour for Marilyn Martin as the third backup singer? I assume Lori will be back for the FM tour.

Iamwilliame 05-09-2018 07:22 PM

I predicted this would happen shortly after TP's passing. I actually like this idea better than bringing TPATH songs into FM, mainly because outside of FM, she sounds best when at least a few Heartbreakers are involved with her songs.

At first glance this seemed odd. BUT, you know what? I could actually see it happening. In fact, I think there's a good chance. What are Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, and Ron Blair going to do now that Tom is dead? I don't think they'll sit around the house OR become just session players for other artists. The REAL money for dinosaur rock acts is in TOURING. Mike, Ben and Ron know that. I can nearly GUARANTEE that they'll hit the road with someone else (as Mike Campbell has already done).

So, a Stevie Nicks Tour featuring The Heartbreakers. Yes. Would they even bring Stan Lynch back? I could see them doing Stevie Nicks songs with a short Tom Petty set -- "I Need To Know", "Stop Draggin", "Don't Come Around Here No More", "The Waiting", "Breakdown", "You Wreck Me", "Wildflowers", and "Runaway Trains".

SteveMacD 05-10-2018 12:32 AM

Why not just bring in Benmont Tench to be the second keyboardist and have Steve Ferone be the second drummer? Hey, maybe we’d get “Got A Hold On Me” that way.

In all seriousness, a lot can happen between now and then. This tour could be a one-time thing for Fleetwood Mac, or it could lead into something more.

Stan is not a Stevie fan.

Benmont joining the Mac tour.....could happen. She and he are good friends.

I think Stevie would think she is doing a good thing for her friend Mike in his time of need and won't ever see it how many fans are seeing all this. Same if she got Benmont involved. She'd see herself as a kind of savior.

I'm sure she sees herself as a saint. She's delusional, and surrounded by people who do nothing but tell her how wonderful she is.

That kind of isolation reminds me of Wacko Jacko... is it just me?

Macfan4life 05-10-2018 04:18 AM

Many Heartbreaker fans are upset with Mike for joining the Mac. Now he is committed to a very long world tour. Any Heartbreaker tribute is not going to wait.

button-lip 05-10-2018 06:10 AM

Benmont already confirmed is bullsh*t, but who knows.

TheWildHeart67 05-10-2018 08:14 AM

This is not going to happen. Pure speculation

Benmont did several shows on his own last fall after Tom's passing, and I just got an email from the Highway Companions Club yesterday that said he's scheduling solo shows later this month in LA.

Why doesn’t Stan like her?

I'm not sure because it's the first time I've heard that, however I do remember that Stan didn't get along very much with Jimmy Iovine so it may have something to do with that.

dunno. But it's in the authorized Tom bio as well. The biographer mentions Stevie and Stan was just like "Don't get me started on Stevie Nicks" and not in a good way.

Benmont loves her. Someone in the Stevie forum posted a link to an interview with him where he talks a fair bit about her and how he started working with her on Bella Donna because Jimmy asked him to sit with her and work through her songs with her and figure out which ones he thought were good and all that (seemed like so maybe he and Jimmy could compare thoughts afterwards). He flat out says he loves her and says that how you think she is, she is.

I had heard numerous reports that when she toured with them (forget which tour-- maybe Australia???) she forbade anyone on the crew etc to look at her or talk to her. I also recall on some tour or other that Tom would not let her and the girls ride on the same plane with him and the guys (no girls in the HBs) but he did hire a separate private little jet for them. And they stayed on a different floor in the hotel.

I seem to recall early on when she was wooing Tom to work with her she started basically following them around from city to city attending shows (not necessarily on his dime for that round).

So maybe all the fan girly stuff wasn't for Stan and he felt she was distracting him from the business at hand.

That was me, here: http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showth...47#post1226247

Stan Lynch was fired from TPATH by Tom Petty. But unlike what happened to Bob Welch, Tom invited Lynch to join them when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Here is what Tom Petty said about Stan:

No crap even the Eagles brought Randy and Bernie back for the induction.

TPATH was just as crazy as Fleetwood Mac in their drama and drugs. Their old VH1 "Behind The Music" shows a bit of it:

Stan says of himself: "There's only a couple of things you can do to
get fired: suck at it or have a bad attitude-I probably did them both." Interestingly, not long after his 3rd firing, he was picked up by Don Henley and moved into a better career as a producer and songwriter.

As I understand it, he was not happy about Stevie getting Tom's "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" from Tom. He felt it should have been on Tom's album. But he did play drums on Stevie's album for that song. It was written by Tom Petty and Mike Campbell. Iovine somehow persuaded Tom to allow Stevie to put it out and it was a hit. There was probably some friction over that during that time.

But did he know he was playing on it for her album at the time it was recorded or were they using parts of the recording done for the HB?

The song was pretty much all ready recorded as a TP song. He didn't contribute drums after the fact.

From what I have gathered, most of Bella Donna was done almost like a live album in that the various band people were on site. Stan would have been there in person. There is a video. It was Tom and Mike's song. See what you think of this article:

that's what should have happened in the first place. instead of breaking up Fleetwood Mac to mesh up SN and HBs. instead of the fakewood tour, not after.

If it happens, it'd be multiple artists, not just Stevie. Sorry Stevie, you're not Tom Petty! or Bob Dylan!! :p

If you listen to the Jimmy iovine doc. Tom had recorded the song for his album and Jimmy was working on both albums. He snuck Stevie in and had her record her vocals as a duo. They didn't sing those vocals together and Tom didn't know he was going to put her vocals on until he found out later.

Maybe Mike, Stevie, and Mick can contribute.
