Gosh, I always thought the most romantic line in a Stevie song was from Sara: "He was singing... and undoing... and undoing... ooh, the laces... undoing the laces..."
I think I got all the punctuation right from that quote! |
I think her most romantic lyrics are from the 'My Love Never Gets Lost' demo. The first few verses are quite beautiful in my opinion. Where it goes "They say all the doors are shut, but in my heart I'll never give you up" & "My love can never be traded or be bought, no my love for you can never grow old." I've always thought those were such romantic lyrics. She has a lot of gems in her old demos.
From her released songs...She doesn't have many songs that are just simply romantic. There's always either a tint of loss, anger, etc. I think "All I ever wanted was to know that you were dreaming" is a beautiful line, but it's not necessarily romantic. |
Sorry I guess I was trying to keep everyone in suspense with the clicks ;)
Maybe this is not the most romantic line but the line from If Anyone Falls always floored me. So much so that one time in 1994 I was a secret admirer and left a card for someone with the following line: "I have never known the words and I have tried to be true.....but I've never known what to say.....how to say..... seen anything today... I've never seen.......anything like YOU." Leather and Lace If Anyone Falls Rooms on Fire Love is Two Kinds of Love Maybe Love will change your mind (although she did not write this one) All very romantic Stevie songs IMHO |
I always thought the first line of Kind of Woman was so romantic. You know..."Temptation falls in your path. No hesitation..why you ask? You have another waiting at home. And yes, she matters to you. Kind of woman that'll hold you."

IMHO not romantic at all. Temptation about cheating and a woman haunting you for it is hardly romantic. Its like her line in Silver Springs.."I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you." Tells me breaking up with Stevie is not an easy thing to do. She will haunt you like a poltergeist  |
I think Sleeping Angel is the most romantic Stevie song.

I think that while "China Doll" is so heartwrendingly sad, it's lyrics are some of the sweetest:
"I said it’s been so long since I’ve been held And he said I could hold you for days He made love to me With his eyes, especially I smiled to know I’d finally found a place..." |

I've gone through all the songs trying to find just ONE that is pure romantic, and I thought I found it with Love Is, until the last half of the song... |
I think the second verse of Crystal is so beautiful and romantic -- "How the faces of love have changed, turning the pages/And I have changed, oh, but you, you remain ageless."
And I agree that Sleeping Angel is the most romantic Stevie song I know of, by far. |

"in the crystalline knowledge of you" > I don't understand this sentence. Kinda off-topic, but It's Only Love: Quote:

Stevie Nicks Will Make You Fall in Love with Words
Here Are Some of the Legendary Fleetwood Mac Singer’s Best Lyrics STEVIE NICKS IS the queen of rock ’n’ roll. Anyone questioning this fact should immediately Google the dressing room version of her song “Wild Heart.” The footage was recorded without Nicks’ knowledge while she was getting ready for her 1981 Rolling Stone photo shoot. It’s perhaps the most stunning performance of her careaer (that we know of), and a telling example of her magnetic energy and raw talent. And that voice. With her drawling vibrato—possibly picked up from young years spent singing country duets with her grandfather—Nicks belts each line like she’s unleashing hurricane-force gusts of wild joy. Though she’s an incredible singer, let’s not forget that she’s also responsible for writing some of rock’s best lyrics. Stevie Nicks will make you fall in love with words. Her emotionally complex lyrics often capture conflicting feelings, whether she was writing barbs about her tumultuous romance with fellow Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham, her abortion (“Sara”), or something as seemingly meaningless as wearing “boots all summer long” (“Nightbird”)—possibly a reference to her years spent addicted to cocaine, when she’d walk around with a gram in her boot. Her breakup songs became anthems for personal autonomy; even when she was caught in the throes of love or pain, Nicks never seems to have forgotten who she is. Here are some of Stevie Nicks’ most striking lyrics: “Landslide” (Fleetwood Mac, 1975) “Oh, mirror in the sky/What is love?/Can the child within my heart rise above?/Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?/Can I handle the seasons of my life?” “Rhiannon” (Fleetwood Mac, 1975) “She rules her life like a fine skylark.” “Gold Dust Woman” (Rumours, 1977) “Rulers make bad lovers/You’d better put your kingdom up for sale.” “Dreams” (Rumours, 1977) “Thunder only happens when it’s raining/Players only love you when they’re playing/Women they will come and they will go/When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know. “Silver Springs” (1977 B-side) “Time casts a spell on you, but you won’t forget me/I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me/I’ll follow you down ’til the sound of my voice will haunt you/You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you.” “Storms” (Tusk, 1979) “So I try to say goodbye, my friend/I’d like to leave you with something warm/But never have I been a blue calm sea/I have always been a storm.” “That’s Alright” (Mirage, 1982) “I hope you find a love/Your own designs of love.” “Nightbird” (The Wild Heart, 1983) “And the summer became the fall/I was not ready for the winter/It makes no difference at all/’Cause I wear boots all summer long.” “Wild Heart” (The Wild Heart, 1983) “Don’t blame it on me/Blame it on my wild heart.” http://www.portlandmercury.com/music...ove-with-words |
BATB kills me every time..............................
Oh who is the beauty... who the beast Would you die of grieving when I leave Two children too blind to see I would fall in your shadow... I believe My love is a man who's not been tamed Oh... my love lives in a world of false pleasure and pain We come from difference worlds... we are the same (my love) I never doubted your beauty... I've changed I never doubted your beauty... I've changed Changed... who is the beauty Where is my beast (my love) There is no beauty Without my beast (my love) |

I agree with some fans here that there are more romantic lyrics. One of my favorites that contains romantic meaning is "Leather and Lace." There are probably others, although their most famous songs aren't necessarily "romantic." |
