Fun Stevie songs?

She's actually quite bubbly and fun, especially when younger. Yet her music is very serious, dark, mature. What are some of her more "fun" songs? Preferably younger Stevie (pre-Street Angel).

I'd say Cathouse Blues, '81 live performances of Angel, Think About It and Watch chain, I can't remember any more at the moment.

See how difficult it is? Haha. When if you look at some other artist, I don't know, Taylor Swift, maybe a good quarter of her discography is "fun". And here you really have to dig! Which is interesting, because Stevie comes across as such a bubbly and fun person.

Cathouse Blues is pretty whimsical, so that one definitely. For "fun" songs -- as in, sassy, bubbly songs I'd dance around to while getting ready for a party or something -- I'd say Stand Back, I Can't Wait... Maybe Sister Honey. In terms of albums, I think Rock A Little is pretty fun and catchy, even if some of the lyrics do get dark.

Sister Honey
Stand Back
Edge of Seventeen
Enchanted
I Can't Wait

These are the songs that always make me wanna get up and dance!

I Don't Want to Know is probably her most joyful song. It always puts a smile on my face. Think About It and That's Alright are fun songs. Maybe Whole Lotta Trouble too, even though I don't like it.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned " Jane" what could be more fun than a song about monkeys:shrug:

McDoobler 01-18-2017 11:50 PM

I would say;
Angel
That's Alright
Stand Back
I Can't Wait
Enchanted
I Don't Wanna Know
Gold and Braid

How could I forget these two. Angel and Gold and Braid are some of the top Stevie upbeat jams!

I like the song Jane but its so sad to me. The lyrics almost make you cry :(

Such a hard life
Disappointment would become her middle name

I would not consider it happy at all

DauphineMarie 01-19-2017 08:24 AM

Seven Wonders
Whole Lotta Trouble
Juliet
Imperial Hotel
Baby Doll (it's a demo, but still a lot of fun)

SisterNightroad 01-19-2017 08:39 AM

The fact is that I wouldn't call all of the songs cited here "fun" because in most cases even if the instrumental is funny and up and the melodies catchy, the lyrics truly aren't. She almost always have a tinge of bittersweet or anger in her writing.

bwboy 01-19-2017 11:11 AM

I Don't Want to Know is a positive song. "I don't want to stand between you and love, honey, I just want you to feel fine."

I think it's meant to be ironic since after that it goes "You say you love me, but you don't know/You got me rocking and a-reeling[...]The truth has been told/Now you tell me that I'm crazy". I just interpret it as a sarcastic song much like Second Hand News, catchy and pleasant to hear but quite biting when you think about the lyrics.

Any version of Edge of Seventeen ...

twinmatrix 01-21-2017 12:46 PM

Edge of Seventeen? Seriously, guys? Haha. :xoxo:

Oh!! Enchanted! Did anyone mention that song?

Yes, I know the lyrics are no fun but I was listening to the Soundstage-version while posting.

It has a pumping beat and look at al the Edge-walks?! She is having fun while performing that song and shaking hands!

So Fun-song!

"Sister Honey" and "Imperial Hotel" were the first that came to mind.

What SisterNightroad said. Given this fact, she really doesn't have any "fun" songs.

With that said, if we're going by just the music ...

Paper Doll

I never thought of it that way because songs that make me bop (Starshine, for instance) are fun for me, even if there's loss in the lyrics.

But you could be right and maybe that's why she likes to do Rock and Roll in concert, because it's just upbeat, with no undercurrent.
