The Buckingham McVie Playlist

So, I just read the news about Buckingham McVie. I cannot describe how excited I am. It's finally happening! (Almost)

Anyway, one of my favorite things to do is to create playlists and try to sequence them like a consistent album.

So here is my OFFICIAL Buckingham McVie playlist I made just now. I'm open to suggestions, please tell me what you think of the sequencing and the choices.

1.) Think About Me
2.) Shadow Of The West
3.) Don't Stop
4.) Who's Dreaming This Dream
5.) Isn't It Midnight?
6.) World Turning
7.) You and I, Part II

So yeah, that's about it. Seriously, I'm open to any suggestions. Please tell me what you think about my sequencing and/or my song choices.

SteveMacD 01-13-2017 09:31 PM

I'd add Hold Me.

Fleetwood Jack 01-13-2017 11:29 PM

Oh crap! How could I forget that one!?

Thank you!

SteveMacD 01-14-2017 12:31 AM

Eyes of the World would be a good pick, too.

bombaysaffires 01-14-2017 02:25 AM

what are their solos? God I hope it's not I'm So Afraid and Songbird.

michelej1 01-14-2017 03:13 AM

I want Sleeping Around the Corner, because that makes me think of Chris. Also, I've always wanted to know what Lindsey would have added to Got a Hold On Me. And, of course they should do, Isn't it Midnight.

Michele

The smile I live for
Lindsey's guitar is so good on that song

I'm pretty sure Lindsey is on her solo album on Got A Hold On Me...

But, agreed. Isn't It Midnight would be amazing with his guitar.

ryan4136 01-14-2017 10:07 AM

He's on that album...but not that song.

Wikipedia lists Todd Sharpe and Lindsey Buckingham on guitars on the song.

NotonRodeo 01-14-2017 11:00 AM

Lindsey is indeed credited on the album/CD liner notes for "Got A Hold on Me" (guitar)

FuzzyPlum 01-14-2017 11:08 AM

Guitar on So Excited, Got a Hold On Me and The Smile I Live For (lead on TSILF only).
Vocals on The Challenge, Who's Dreaming This Dream and TSILF.

Fleetwood Jack 01-14-2017 11:15 AM

"The Smile I Live For" and "Eyes Of The World" are really good choices! You could tell I was delirious while making this for forgetting all of those great songs.

I do't think I could add "Sleeping Around The Corner" though, because I don't have an I-Tunes account. I'm using the poor man's I-Tunes, also known as Spotify.

I will update you guys on what all I've added in a few minutes!

It Takes Time

jbrownsjr 01-14-2017 12:38 PM

just to make sure since it's getting muddied up in the post -

you are making a spotify (or ipod or phone or whatever) playlist of currently existing LB-CM songs, right?

it seems some posts are going into territory of what they'd like to hear live on possible upcoming LB-CM tour. that's a completely different list to me.

Fleetwood Jack 01-14-2017 01:26 PM

Oh yeah, sorry, I maybe should have said that. It is a Spotify playlist of currently existing Buckingham and McVie songs. You know like "Hold Me" or "Isn't It Midnight". Mainly ones they either wrote or sang together on.

jbrownsjr 01-15-2017 11:03 PM

the long keyboard sound of the intro.... to....

Got A Hold On Me
Go Insane
Lindsey "Good evening.. this whole rebirth was an organic convening...."
Carnival Begin
Too Far Gone
Isn't It Midnight
Tango In The Night
Mystified
Friend (acoustic)
Bel Air Rain (acoustic)
New Song co-written
Hold Me
Big Love (with full band)
Eyes of the World
New Song co-written)
You Make Loving Fun
Monday Morning
New Song
New Song
Get Like You Used to Be
World Turning
Never Going Back Again
Songbird

Somebody already mentioned it but - I absolutely ADORE "It Takes Time"!!

I would love to see them either re-record it (not necessary but it could be nice with subtle added harmonies from Christine and maybe a little guitar just like he's been doing on Songbird for the last couple of years - on electric yet so discreet).

Just ... don't let "It Takes Time" die, Lindsey. Nobody (except us FM fanatics) know it and that should be changed. It's one of the most tender, beautiful moments of his ENTIRE career (from 1973 on...) - please make sure this song is brought back to life, if only live with just Chris on the keys and you on vocals. (Imagine him, singing a song with no instrument in front of him ... it would be a mind-blower!)

CarnivalBegin 01-17-2017 02:51 PM

Oh, and to get back to your main topic - I doubt it's on Spotify but Christine's Elvis cover, "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You", has Lindsey (and the boys) all over it.

And, Billy Burnette.

That would be nice to have the BTM bandmates, but I doubt it.

Christine might get George Hawkins and some or all of Lindsey's band.. Brett, Neale, etc..

just my guess

CarnivalBegin 01-17-2017 04:51 PM

You can bet your bottom dollar that, if there's a Buckingham McVie tour, it'll be Lindsey's boys backing them. Christine has been out of the touring loop (other than, OF COURSE, the recent FM tour) for so long, she'll trust Lindsey and his team's choices and organization.

FuzzyPlum 01-17-2017 05:02 PM

On the one hand I wouldn't want to see any additional musicians. In reality, I think they'd definitely need help for a tour now. Especially as they'll end up singing lead on a larger proportion of the songs.
On the plus side, we surely wont get Stevie's girls.

The 10 songs I'd like to see them play on a Buckingham Nicks tour that they generally wouldn't play as staples on a Fleetwood Mac tour are;

Got a Hold on Me: (the big CM hit)
Why: (Super song. If we don't hear it played now we'll never hear it?)
Hold Me: (The perfect opportunity to play the ultimate Christine/Lindsey song)
Go Insane: (The almost big LB hit)
Countdown: (Still Lindsey's best solo song, imo)
Tango In The Night: (Great song. Shame it's never seen the light of day live)
Isn't It Midnight: (See above)
Black Magic Woman: (Come on, pay some respect to the guy that started the band 50 years ago- with something other than Oh Well)
Sentimental Lady: (For goodness sake, say a big thank you to the guy that kept the band afloat and allowed the opportunity for the 'Rumours band' to get together)
Steal Your Heart Away: (Would be great to hear this great mix of Chris & Lindsey's voices live)

Freudian slip?

nicepace 01-18-2017 06:03 PM

How about "One in a Million" with Lindsey singing Steve Winwood's part.

Especially since Lindsey produced that song for Christine. She knew Lindsey was a big Elvis fan, so she asked him to produce that one song for a movie soundtrack.

secondhandchain 01-19-2017 03:04 PM

I don't think they will do many solo songs at all.

Second hand News
Never going back again
The Chain
You Make loving Fun
Don't Stop
Say You love me
World Turning
I'm so afraid
Tusk
Think About Me
I know I'm not wrong
Little Lies
Everywhere
Big Love
Hold Me
and 6 new Songs
is what they will play in no particular order with the possibility of adding Got a hold on me and one other Lindsey solo song.

TrueFaith77 01-19-2017 04:17 PM

The following would have to be there:

(the collabs)
World Turning
Mystified
You and I Part II
Isn't It Midnight

+

(almost duets)
Don't Stop
Think About Me
Hold Me
Little Lies

+

(solo assists)
Shadow of the West
The Challenge
So Excited
Got a Hold on Me
Who's Dreaming This Dream
The Smile I Live For
Can't Help Falling In Love
ETA: Steal Your Heart Away

+

(for the shippers):
Over My Head
ETA: Bleed to Love Her

jbrownsjr 01-19-2017 04:44 PM

Hahahaha shippers... it's so ridiculous it's funny...

There are lyrics going back and forth!! they must be in love!!
