She really is funny!

I wonder if someone has a video of the band intro in Columbia (11.12.16), she did not swear but it was a very funny moment too.

24karatstevie 11-15-2016 12:51 PM

That's hilarious. Gotta love Stevie! I like her explanation that "Hell" is just a place not a swear. That's the word she used when describing Crying in the Night in Nashville as opposed to the f word. But we have documented evidence that she has used the f word on stage before haha. I think her reaction is just so priceless. She's so adorable and Waddy's just cracking up behind her  Wish she would have said that at my show; I would've died from laughter!

wheart 11-15-2016 12:53 PM

I love when she swears. It's always a little shocking but at the same time really cool. I saw her in FL in 2008 and was apparently having major issues with her ear monitor. At one point she told the audience she wishes she could back to when everything wasn't "so ****ing high tech". loved it.

Andyleo 11-15-2016 01:14 PM

That is SO funny!! How cute Stevie is. I love the shocked look in her eyes. Too funny:]

Drummergrl 11-15-2016 01:31 PM

She was saying she must have wrote it after seeing some movie, or something to that effect. Does anyone remember an interview where she mentioned a movie with Lesley Ann Warren as being the inspiration for "Crying in The Night"?

The only interview I know in which she talked about Crying in the night is for Rockline in 1989 but it's an audio interview. If someone wants to hear Nicole has it here on her blog but now I don't have the patience to sit down and listen to the whole thing: http://www.buckinghamnicks.info/interviews-stevienicks/

I suspect it's because she's hanging out with Waddy so much that it slipped out! ;)

Thank you. I thought it may have been an audio interview. I've heard so many over the years, I couldn't remember which one.

Macfanforever 11-15-2016 04:59 PM

I wonder if she remembers the 1989 Bristol Lake Componnce show,I was there.

bombaysaffires 11-15-2016 05:56 PM

I love how blabby she's getting in her older years. For a long time she would NOT talk much at all onstage --"mystique" and all that (though she's always blabbed in interviews) And until she went solo FM wasn't likely too keen on her yakking away hogging the spotlight so she was always pretty terse on stage with her words. Then Lindsey started getting more and more blabby onstage and she would kinda make faces and say in interviews how she thought people didn't want to hear all this talking they wanted to hear the music.... and now..... ya can't shut her up!!!:lol:

And I love it how she's been warning the audiences that the younger people will go "this is just like my mother talking".

More like our collective cool aunt.

This is adorable. Stevie is so youthful... The way her face is like  right after it slips out!

SpyNote 11-15-2016 09:32 PM

She swore again tonight in Boston! "When you're a writer, you have to be very careful. We all know, especially after the last couple of years, what words do. You can't just say ****, sorry. I know, I'm so grounded!"

I like this "new" Stevie.

Um... total turn off.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

Her audiences are very pleased with her talking; it's happy and youthful. At least that's what all reviews have reported so far. If you consider social media a good indicator, then her audiences really are very happy with all the story telling.

Every Millennial dreams of having Stevie as their fairy godmother. As do I.

I think you misunderstood me. I was talking more
about associating her with the word "mother" or
"Aunt" even. Kind of ruins the allure.

I understood that. But the fact that she sounds very youthful and the audiences are happy with the talking kind of negate the "sounding like a mother" statement. She said it jokingly anyway.

I went through the interview, the bit about Crying in the Night is at circa 1 hour and 4 minutes, but I don't understand a few words, she says:
"Well, Crying in the Night's about an actress, her name is Leslie Ann Warren and she did some movie that was very .............................................., you know that type of thing, and I wrote this song about her. And many years later when I did the video for Stand Back and Jeffrey Hornaday coreographed it they were going together and he in fact introduced me to her and I told her about it, that this song had been written about her. So this was a song that was really written about a certain person, and if you know that she is and whenever you hear Crying in the Night will know that that's what I wrote it about and she thought it was pretty mean (slang?), and I thought it was pretty mean, I thought it was pretty mean to get to tell her that I wrote it about her."

If someone with a better understanding of English can fill the blanks I'd be pretty grateful for it.

I remember that interview when it aired on the radio. I think she said, "A la Gunsmoke Kitty," referring to the show's character Miss Kitty, who owned a western saloon. She was a tough gal, so I think Stevie had her in mind.

Thank you!
I'm searching for the movie and I saw that Leslie Warren did in fact appear on an episode of Gunsmoke!

No, that actually gives me the time to understand since she articulates her "um yeah ya know" before every advanced word or expression. I love rockstars interviews, they usually talk so slowly and/or with so many pauses.

I remember seeing that on YouTube and cracking up.

There was another one too, opening night of one of her many random solo tours between 2002 and 2011 where she said something like "we're out on the road again because basically, we had sh!t else to do!"

StandbackStevie 11-22-2016 06:06 AM

I was at the show at Lake Compounce in Bristol Connecticut, in 1989, I was near the front and she did drop the F bomb a few times , she was angry at the venues security guard for being rough with the fans up front.

Is that the "If you F with my people I'm gonna get real F-ing angry" one?

I saw the Gunsmoke episode Lesley Ann Warren appeared in, but I don't think "Crying in the Night" is based on that character. In the episode, she plays The Warden's daughter, not really a "come-on girl."

I think the "Crying in the Night" character is based on "Mae" (played by Warren) from the TV western movie The Daughters of Cabe, which aired in 1972. She kind of fits that "a la Gunsmoke Kitty" description. The timing of when the song was written seems to work with when Buckingham Nicks was released. Here's a clip of the movie (Mae appears at 19:15):

Yeah, I thought so, the coincidence just striked me.
However thanks for finding the movie, I had forgotten about it.
