Bella Donna and The Wild Heart burning up the charts

So it's only been a few hours and the response to these albums has been incredible. On the main Amazon US top 100 albums chart, at the time of writing, Bella Donna is at #13 and The Wild Heart is at #18!

To say that it's unexpected is the understatement of the decade! Clearly these albums are in high demand and they are going to sell like hot cakes.

Just thought I'd share the fantastic news and I'll update if things get even better. Her appearance on The Late Late Show will probably help with this even further.

This is amazing news! Would this be pre-sales, or sales of the original releases?
Thanks for the info. James89!

GREAT News James .Thanks for the report. Two of her best album still have the fire power 30 plus years later.

Danielle 10-06-2016 09:39 PM

That's really good news. BD is at #12 now. :]

Jondalar 10-07-2016 12:04 AM

Bella Donna is #9 and The Wild Heart is #14 on Amazing.com.

James89 10-07-2016 04:38 AM

These are for the pre-orders but I have to say, when Mirage was up for pre-order it never reached anywhere near as high. I think it reached as high as around #40? So very impressive for these indeed.

Keep in mind that Stevie has the only box sets in the top 20. Her albums are more expensive than the other ones.

Jondalar 10-07-2016 05:24 AM

P.S. Sales for Bella Donna and Wild Heart are great but sales for 24 Karat Gold have dropped off the radar. It's rank is like 300,000. This tour was supposed to promote that album.

Jondalar 11-04-2016 04:48 PM

73 Bella and 107 TWH itunes

Also #23 and #30 on Amazon US which is pretty good. I'm surprised that they're doing this well. I wonder if they'll reach the top 100 of the Billboard 200?

Maybe that's because Bella Donna and The Wild Heart are significantly better albums than 24KG

James89 11-07-2016 08:46 PM

Fantastic news! Both Bella Donna and The Wild Heart look set to make an appearance on the UK Top 100 albums chart this Friday!

The midweek chart has BD at #55 and TWH at #76. If I'm being honest, I didn't think they would chart at all in the UK but this clearly shows she has a devoted fan base here and so she should bring the tour here! Anyway, back to what I was talking about...

I would imagine they will drop a bit by Friday but if they can both cling on then I think it would be a real achievement to have the two within the top 100.

I'm also expecting great things for the US and of course, as soon as I get the info, I'll post. :)

X2, the stuff she's put out the last 10 years with Dave Stewart pales in comparison to BD/WH. New albums WILL SELL if they are great. 24K is not near great. Not a single song on it has charted on iTunes or anywhere else. Sales have not been significant and two years after its release, its all but forgotten.

No new album by someone in their 60s or 70s is going to sell no matter what the quality .Even new albums by young people don't sell millions anymore unless they answer to the name Adele Atkins.

So, what you're telling me is that unless you're Adele, you can be excused for putting out dreck that people simply won't buy. Sure, makes sense to me??

Fact is, IF 24K or any other of her recent albums were great, they'd sell on Stevie's name alone. Dave S did her a great disservice by allowing her to put out songs that should have remained in the VAULT. All in the name of honoring a recording contract I guess?

Have you not been paying attention the last 10 years? You don't know what your talking about. Sia and others have huge hits and their albums don't go even platinum.

And 24k is probably the best reviewed album of her career.

Both IYD and 24KG were top 10 albums..look at some of her peer's from her solo heyday of the early 1980s ,Pat Benatar has not had a top 10 album since 1982!

Yeah, I live by the words of reviewers and pollsters too!! It may be best reviewed , BUT certainly NOT the best album to my ears. Gotta go back to the late 70s, early 80s for that!!

5 and a half years later and IYD is also all but forgotten, another Dave Stewart debacle. Give me TISL over 24K or IYD any day. Heck, I am not so sure that I wouldn't also take SA over them as well.

dreamsunwind 11-09-2016 01:59 PM

I don't think it's Dave's fault the albums didn't sell so well. Although I've never been a terribly big fan of Stevie's solo work because of the cheesy production, the albums were good overall and would've pleased fans. But the only people today that manage to get people to go out and buy an album are Taylor Swift and Adele. For both of them, their last few albums have sold millions upon millions. It's not shocking that someone like Stevie, despite being a legend, won't sell big numbers. IYD did pretty well considering.

SisterNightroad 11-09-2016 02:30 PM

And to think that 24K Gold is now my third favourite album by Stevie, after Bella Donna and Wild Heart.

jbrownsjr 11-09-2016 02:47 PM

These two albums are incredible. Her best work, by far. Can't wait til I have time to sit down and listen in entirety.

Why isn't Stevie getting people out to buy her CDs/Albums?? She did back in the 70s and 80s and even TISL was well received. Why are IYD and 24K any different?. Because they are not near the quality of what BD, WH or even SA were. You can't blame everything on "people dont buy music anymore" because of Internet etc. If its a great album like 21, it'll sell and sell BIG!!

People not buying music is a huge thing though, but I also think it's hugely because she's not at her peak anymore. When Stevie was selling millions, she wasn't old and she was still very beautiful and her voice was still in great condition. You know, that was her prime. Just like Adele and Taylor Swift are at their primes now, I doubt that in 30 years, they'll still be selling the numbers they're selling now. I don't think a lot of those older artists could sell today the way they did in their primes. The Rolling Stones are putting out an album aren't they? They're literally the STONES and I'd be very, very surprised if it goes platinum. I think Stevie has a very dedicated fanbase who will buy whatever she does as well as Fleetwood Mac fans, but I just don't think the general public/typical album buyer cares about her as much as they did 30 years ago, even if she is a legend.
That's why I'm kind of in awe at the likes of Adele and TSwift, in music today they manage to get even casual fans to go out and buy a record.

I disagree. 21 sells big because it sells to those people who only go out an buy one album that year. It sells big because the songs are used in SNL skits. It sells well because the songs are played hourly on radio stations. It sells well because of the Adele brand.

Stevie is a has-been. A been-there-done-that. A legend, but a has-been nonetheless, and she will never, ever sell a million or even 500K of anything ever again. It doesn't matter how good the songs are or who produces them or what image is on the cover or what the reviews say. Paul McCartney doesn't sell a million and he's a Beatle!

Most music fans stream their music these days. Very few people buy CDs or even whole albums on iTunes. Those who do are die-hards like us and housewives who go out once a year to buy the Susan Boyle or Adele CD they've been waiting for.

I love Stevie as much as any hardcore fan, but let's be realistic about sales when it comes to her albums.

If that was the reason then there wouldn't be the tons of garbage like Bieber who sell outrageously big numbers of albums.

Well this deplorable loves 24k and is enjoying it now. It's a great day to be U. S. citizen and I'm enjoying it with Stevie. Maybe she can sing Has Anyone Ever Written for You to Hillary, instead of Landslide.

Thank you Angels for giving deplorables a voice. My poor butt needs to be heard!!!!!!!!!!

I guess better a has been than a never was. That's harsh to say about the Queen of Rock. How many artists have a 40+ year career behind them and a successful one at that. I believe that since she's been at Reprise and being produced or directed by someone other than Lindzers that her work and production is substandard. Its lost its je ne sais quoi quality that has always defined the queen of rock. Haunting guitar licks by Lindsey and an ethereal sound like Sisters of or Beauty and Beast. Sorry , but there's nothing like Thrown Down, Stand Back or Edge to get the blood flowing. Her latest stuff is almost like she's in a depression vacuum and can't get out.

I do agree with this. It's always been my opinion that her work with him during their prime had a certain magic that was never truly replicated in her other work. Like even somewhat after the peak for the two of them together, I think Gypsy is a better, more classic Stevie song than all of Bella Donna. That's just me.

It's like the quote by Ken (I think) where he says there's a reason Stevie and Lindsey sound so good together... It's because they were meant to sing together!

And I think it's a shame that they don't work together anymore. They bring out the best in each other musically and I do not think that is disputable.

I like how she reached out to him to get the exact vibe/sound she wanted for Soldier's Angel, because only he could do it. I think that's telling.

True. I did also say she is a legend, but when it comes to platinum album sales, those days are over, and that's what I meant by has-been - a former multi-platinum artist with a legacy that she nurtures in a way which makes her happy.

TheWildHeart67 11-09-2016 11:18 PM

I don't agree. I think Stevie has proved time and time again, she is capable of creating magical musical works of art with other producers.
