Stevie's out because of Christine? Jealousy rears it's head.

From the Barry files...

Be careful what you wish for. Did the blonde Queen
of Fleetwood Mac get more than she bargained for with
the return of Christine McVie?

Rock 'n Roll is all about ego. And in this case the Queen's
eclipses the rest of the band all put together. Of course this
is nothing new to the rabid fans of the group.

Her ascendance to this position after the success of the
Rumours album. And her crowning after the Bella Donna
album gave her all the power.

She only showed weakness when her drug use debilitated
her. And her former lover in his one moment of triumph
over her and the band left in desperation to keep his sanity.

Even in her darkest hours of extreme weight gain, lethargic
concert performances and making the worst music of her life,
the ego propelled her on. Until even the fans had had enough.
Then she finally abandoned the ship which she helped run aground.

With no where to go the Queen jumped at the chance to appear
with her former band mates at a political convention. And as the
video from that night reveals she should have made a better choice
at choosing a wellness center instead of center stage on prime time
TV. Ego sometimes gives one a distorted view of themselves. And
sometimes it's the opposite of what one would think. While some
think worse of themselves, others think they're so great everyone
will accept or more importantly will still love them.

Years go by and with a little weight loss and more control over the
substances that abused her body there's a chance at something good
again. There's nothing like time that makes needy fans appreciate and
maybe see things in a different light. Almost like a magic act. You know
it's not real, but you so want to believe it that you suspend belief. We
see what we want to see. The Dance was this magic.

The Dance, Rock 'n Roll Hall Of Fame induction and a semi-successful
solo album infused her with all the ego she needed to carry her through
Say You Will and the subsequent greatest hits tours.

Back to her old self she willingly threw her band mates, most especially
the one that crafted her songs under the bus. And of course made sure
the public knew about her old flames - the ones she truly loved. It didn't
matter that her stories changed over the years. We still believed.

If only the Queen had a friend to help her control her antagonist. Perhaps
if the Blonde would return. Then the women could make things like they
were before. And the Blonde knew her place. On that there was no argument.

But here's where the story turns. What the Queen hadn't figured was how
much the Blonde would be loved when she returned. A few nights an ego
can take. But at over a year's worth of touring, ego can turn green.

What's the Queen to do? With her power she holds the others hostage
once again. The Blonde won't be the one appreciated on the next tour
or album. It will be the Queen once again - and only the Queen. If time
doesn't run out.

bwboy 08-10-2016 06:20 AM

As it should be! Hopefully the other band members will remember their place- if they do, maybe Stevie will tear up those contracts they signed giving her control over the release of their latest album!

Macfan4life 08-10-2016 06:32 AM

Rubbish

Stevie has never been jealous of Christine. The song Say You Will is about begging her not to leave. Total nonsense. Stevie would come out almost every show after the concert and say how happy she was Christine was back. I enjoy your posts but they are always wild conspiracy theories ;)
Its always been LINDSEY LINDSEY LINDSEY. The Say You Will project was very tense recording with Lindsey. I saw major tensions on the last leg of the American ON WITH THE SHOW tour. In Miami Stevie was furious with Lindsey. During her long intro to Gypsy, Stevie was going on about touring with CCR and how their car broke down. At that moment Lindsey made his guitar sound like a car horn. Stevie stopped talking and turned to Lindsey and say "Did you do that? Why would you do that? Then she turned to the audience and said "Am I boring you? She then cut her intro short and they went into the song. That night Stevie did not come out and talk with the crowd.

She has talked about how horrible it made her feel when Christine and Lindsey wrote World Turning. Great read.

Great read. While I don't believe Stevie is jealous of Christine, per se, I do believe she has a problem with attention being diverted away from her...however that may occur.

This thread has a soap opera-ish feel to it.

Agreed. I think the two ladies do get along rather well. I think Stevie had mixed feelings about having her back. It meant more work. (downside) However, that kind of money will fund her new home purchase and she can't make that much on her own any longer.

If Mick were to get all the attention, she'd get jealous. She wants that power.

Thanks, I think. Though I don't see the conspiracy.

No, we all know it's about the Queen.
The tenseness is great exaggeration.

Thanks.

And you can bet she doesn't like to share any of the attention.

Doesn't the Mirage video show her handing some stuffed animal
or flowers to Christine? As if to say, "hold this while I greet my fans".

If Christine wanted center stage on the next tour
do you think they'd still get along?

AncientQueen 08-10-2016 06:31 PM

Chris ALWAYS gets the center space on every stage she is. The moment she wants it, it's hers alone.

Conspiracy theories can be a fun read, but a significant portion of humanity puts too much faith in them - even when it comes to voting.

My story is made up of some truth.
But it was told mostly because I'm a
little tired of the they should do this -
they should do that
threads. Plus when
one looks at the time it was written, I
should have been in bed. Insomnia helps
me write as much as Barry does.

It wasn't meant to trick anyone.

If I were serious and I rarely am, I'd say after
seeing John in the most recent pictures that
I wish Fleetwood Mac would just retire and
enjoy the rest of their lives.

I don't need another album from them.

That's just me. As I'm not speaking for
Rusty, Alec or Barry.

WatchChain 08-11-2016 10:19 PM

I actually think "The Ballad of The Queen and The Blonde" is very well written. I LOVED reading it!

HOWEVER, although I have been a little frustrated with Stevie lately, I don't think that she holds ANY jealousy toward Christine. While I'm sure they ARE NOT BEST friends, I think they have a pleasant, cordial relationship. Chris is so non-threatening, it would be hard to be jealous of her. In reality, Stevie's REAL ISSUE with returning to the Fleetwood Mac fold lies with ONE PERSON ALONE---Lindsey Buckingham. BOTTOM LINE--- Stevie and Lindsey just don't get along, folks! What's more, they know exactly how to push each other's buttons, and do so RELENTLESSLY.

Moreover, while on TOUR, I really don't think the band members spend all that much time together when they are NOT on stage or the airplane.

Well said and well read. Seems like the King and Queen will never get along and the Court Jester is just trying to keep things together for the sake of his own ego and more importantly, his own pocket book.

John's health has changed my attitude towards

they are in a state of limbo.

I don't know why she has to be so mean about it.
I know some people carry hurt a long time. But
it's been so long now. And she still sticks the knives
in seemingly every chance she gets.

If it hurts that much she should have left a long time
ago.

The last photos really scared me, John looks very fragile and sick, imho he is in no state to do a world tour, and greedy Mick eventually edging him on for his own financial gain seems cruel to me.

I don't want to see a band in which an individual member suffers.
And in this it is John! F***ing! McVie! so STOP IT!

mitzo 08-13-2016 08:42 AM

A lot of the pressure to tour is Mick and his endless financial problems I think.

I could have said "No Roger, No Holly", but didn't
think their ending was as good. And I'm hoping
Fleetwood Mac has a good ending.

Spaulding's, Thorpe's, McVie's, Bauer's, Nicks' and
Lewis' all fit. Maybe Netflix can revive Guiding Light
with the retired members of Fleetwood Mac.

deribish 08-15-2016 06:55 AM

I always thought the original Alexandra Spaulding (Beverlee McKinsey) looked like an older Stevie. Small and frail and lots of blonde hair, yet powerful, loyal and not someone to be messed with.

I still miss Guiding Light sometimes even though it was awful the last couple of years. I hope you're right about FM having a good ending, as opposed to GL!

Stevie's out because of Christine? Jealousy rears it's head

Nah, I think you're all wet,
iamnotafraid. The only person that
might be jealous (and I highly doubt that)
would be Brett Tuggle. I mean that in
the kindest of ways. He has been faithful
helpful to Fleetwood Mac, as well as to
Lindsey and Stevie in their solo ventures.
Stevie? She finished one tour, Christine
came back (after taking a 16
year vacation), and FM started all over
again with it's road trip. She's been on
the road practically every year. I believe
Stevie sincerely welcomed Christine back.
The timing probably was not the best. They
just wrapped up a grueling tour (by FM
standards). Additionally, Stevie was
badgered by Mick to "give up" on her
promotion of her solo album (In Your Dreams)
and she practically did almost nothing to
promote the later one, 24 karat Gold. I think
just she's tired and obviously has other committments
at the moment. (who knows when they
were made) BUT, that said, she did say
there would be another FM album.
I believe that is her intention.
