Least favorite tracks from Tusk?
Every album has some "clunkers" and I honestly think Tusk has some.
This is probably going to anger a few Ledgies, but... I never cared very much for the title track. It bothers me quite a bit. That line "Real savege like" has ALWAYS creeped me out. Another one I'm terribly fond of is Sisters of the Moon. It's OK. But I'm just not that crazy about it. However, I prefer the live versions of it during the Mirage tour vs the album version. |
I think "The Ledge" and "Not That Funny" are pretty clunky.
I don't care for the title track either, but it can be nice occasionally... |
Not That Funny is so great live though
|
It's amazing. Stevie has no clunkers here. Can't pick on her. Lindsey has a ton depending on your taste.
I don't dislike any songs on this album. It's a weird album, for sure. But, I love it. If I have to pick.... That's Enough For Me |

I prefer Walk A Thin Line to That's enough For Me. |

It's a weird album where clunkers might be the point.
I love all of the oddness and unevenness. But there are a couple of tunes I just can't force myself to genuinely like, though I know others like them: That's All For Everyone and Never Make Me Cry. |

i can't stand Sara, as everyone probably already knows. i think it's dirge-like and boring. probably the only song i have to always skip on Tusk. i'm not very fond of 3 Chris slow tracks on Tusk (sorry John you know i love you! :xoxo:). although i loved Peter Green version of Brown Eyes. That's All for Everyone is far from favorite, and i used to dislike Save Me a Place but after hearing various live versions i have grown not to dislike it nearly as much and sometimes being even fond of it. other than that i love most LB Tusk tracks, adore Sisters of the Moon and Think About me, and i'm pretty fond of various versions of Beautiful Child and Storms. |

The Ledge and Thats enough for me and walk a thin line are just terrible IMO ;)
|
You'll Never Make Me Cry. Bleh.
|
1. Sisters of the Moon. Blech.
2. Not That Funny 3. I Know I'm Nor Wrong 4. What Makes You Think You're the One I like every track on "Tusk" except these. |
The only song I never liked on tusk was never make me cry. But the new alternative version is so good I can now say I have no least favorite song from tusk.
|
"The Ledge"
"Not That Funny" "That's Enough For Me" These 3 are the only songs on Tusk I dislike; I love pretty much every other one. Oddly enough, "SMAP" and "WATL" are amongst my all time favorite LB tracks, and many seem to dislike them. |
Not That Funny - no, it really isn't all that funny
Thats Enough for Me - there's a decent song in there somewhere (Can't remember the alternate version and whether it's any good off the top of my head). The album version is okay until the silly shouting bits. Storms - So many people seem to like this so much. I don't get it. For me it just drags and drags. Boring. Used to hate The Ledge but it's grown on me over the years. |

I've never cared for Not That Funny. I liked it even less when I saw it performed live, and stretched out to 8 or 9 minutes. The Ledge and Never Make Me Cry are not my favorites but they're OK. I pretty much love the rest of the album.
That's All For Everyone is one of Lindsey's best songs on Tusk. I love the tight harmonies in the middle of the song when they're singing the long notes. |
"Not That Funny" is better live, but really, I love the whole album. Every song has its purpose and place.
|
"Never Make Me Cry" hands down, least favorite. Every other song I like, though I skip "That's Enough for Me" sometimes because LB's songs get a bit same samey and that's his most expendable one for me.
|
the Ledge and Not that funny for me.
|
I had always disliked the final version of "Save Me a Place," but when I heard the Alternate Tusk version, it instantly became one of my favorite songs on the album. For me, this was a prime example of "less is more" and the beauty in simplicity.
Other songs from Tusk I'm not really a fan of are "What Makes You Think You're the One," "Not That Funny," and "Never Make Me Cry." |

I played it in it's entirety tonight and I simply cannot answer that. I still adore the whole damn thing.

For some reason or another, Never Make Me Cry always tends to make me cry...
It's one of my favourite Chris songs, and one of the "sweet" songs on Tusk that make it one of the albums nearest to my heart. |
NMMC is a beautiful song sung so sweetly by Chris.

Sara is just talking forever and ever and ever with some background music. i tried, since i know how immensely popular it used to be, and when i meet 10-20 yo Sara, i kinda wonder these days whether the name came from that enormous popularity. but i just can't get through the song. it bores me and depresses me. on the other hand, SOTM seems to be the song about which fans split in the middle - they either love it or don't get why people like it that much. i think SOTM is one of SN's best FM songs and just love it and was surprised to see it on some people's lists in this thread. i also think that other than Sara. Stevie's Tusk songs are her best grouping of FM songs. |

imo the most important thing is that song makes you happy, or makes you feel something, or whatever value it has for you is what matters! |

I love the piano and the backing vocals. |

after hearing enough live and alternate versions of SMAP, i now started to actually like it. somebody in this thread mentioned how they disliked the original but love the alternate Tusk SMAP. i think my love for WATL really comes from the alternative version that was on Tusk CD re-issue (from 2002 i think). if i just heard orginal slowed down WATL, maybe i wouldn't love it nearly as much. as for your 3 dislike choices, i'm completely with you on That's Enough For Me which most like and respct and it just really annoys me. but i adore the Ledge and love NTF. |

re "dumb" sorry if what i said made you feel that way! it wasn't meant to (see also my post above), you expressed surprise about my choice so i felt i owe you some explanation on why i dislike the song. |
