You Make Loving Fun is the best song on Rumours. It's literally a perfect song.

@Wdm6789 YMLF doesn't rank too awfully high for me anymore. I think it is just one those songs I've heard too many times now. But it is a great track, so I'll listen to it every now and then.

I know technically it wasn't on the original release, but I couldn't help it. I guess I count it as such in my book. :p

May I ask why you don't like her songs on Rumours?

I Don't Want To Know - favorite song on the album

I'd replace Second Hand News with Silver Springs if it were on the original album.

The song makes me happy. Not sure why they had Lindsey take the lead on it, but it's a great Nicks song.

I always thought they had Lindsey take lead on it to balance out Side 2, otherwise he'd only have a strong presence on The Chain. :shrug:

I count it since it was intended for inclusion on Rumours. But that is just how I feel regarding it.

I love Silver Springs and glad it was left off the album. I think it got more attention that way. And I love, "I Don't Want to Know" It's perfect after You Make Lovin Fun and before Oh Daddy.

I did have a cassette tape that had Rumours lead off with IDWK and SHN was after YMLF.

With the way you put it, it makes perfect sense. Maybe leaving it off was for the better.

Side note: I wish Sleeping Angel was included on BD. I bought the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack just so I could have it. And I also got the Enchanted box set, but a few years back when I was moving into a new house, I lost it. :(

Bubbling Under: I Don't Want to Know

Yay! Another IDWK vote.

You Make Loving Fun is the best song on Rumours. As well as one of the band's overall best songs.

Dreams is up there and Gold Dust Woman is up there too.

It really is a fantastic song.

All the instruments are perfect, the drums, guitar, bass, electric organ, Christine's lyrics are simple and to the point. Lindsey and Stevie's back up vocals are great. It's just a very nicely crafted song.

It is, but I've always thought it would have given its best live.

Does this stem from the late decision not to include Silver Springs?
When they decided it didn't fit on the album they went for the 'old' Stevie song and recorded it when she wasn't around. They then added her vocals after they'd broken the news and she's stopped crying and calmed down. I guess they must have liked how it sounded with LB singing.

ha, plausible theory! most recent re-issue of Rumours with demos and outtakes has Lindsey-only early version of the song.

i do seem to recall they both sang it on the original BN version too, though.
