Christine needs to do a solo album.

I love Christine McVie and her music. But, if she's itching so much about getting back to music, then she should put out a 4th solo album.

Write it, have Lindsey produce it, do a small tour and you'll be ready for Fmac.

There is no time like the present to just go for it! Plus the chemistry between Lindsey and Christine is better than ever. (according to them)

Macfanforever 03-30-2016 09:15 AM

Not a bad idea.If she likes to .She can put the left overs from this new FM album on it and pen some new ones.

FuzzyPlum 03-30-2016 12:16 PM

It has been mentioned before, but I think she and Lindsey should put out a Buckingham-McVie album. As they've already collaborated on a lot of music they might as well put it out jointly rather than as a Christine solo effort. A joint venture would probably attract much more media interest/sales than either a CM album or a LB album.

sorcerer999 03-30-2016 12:26 PM

YESS!!! I would be thrilled if she did another solo record. It's not like she would have to tour for it, since she hates solo tours. A new album from her would be so welcome! I loved "In The Meantime". I actually liked it a heck of a lot better than "Say You Will".

I agree completely. I'd love to hear a CM/LB album!!!!!

Or just give Old What's Her Name her walking papers.

jbrownsjr 03-30-2016 12:34 PM

I would love a B/M so much more than a B/N. I don't really get B/N.

The first album was amazing. Their work in FM up to Tusk was amazing. Anything really after than is subpar to good (at best).

Macfan4life 03-30-2016 12:41 PM

I was thinking the same thing the other day. I would love a CM new album and tour. I bet she would love to hit the road with Bob Welch (if he was still around) to dig up the good classics.
But reality sinks in. In 1984 Christine had a hit record and sung most of the Mac hits and could not get 1000 people to a concert hall. I would be there and so would most of us but the logistics and profits have to come into account. However, I bet she would love to do it. Could you imagine hearing classics like Why, Spare me a little and Prove your love in concert? We can only dream. I wish I won the powerball lottery for 500 million. I would pay Christine 10 million to record a new album and pay for her hotel and expenses on a 20 city US tour. I would be in the front row every night :)

I think she would get more following today than she did back then. I think she could do theater type shows and really be a hit. They have to market it correctly.

Well I certainly wouldn't want to see her gone but a LB/CM project would put her nose out of joint and bring her running in no time. It seems she does need knocking off her perch a bit.

I'm sure CM would do something as Buckingham Nicks or as a FM 4-piece and I'm sure LB would too as he just wants to be creative and isn't (too) worried about the money.

I reckon the only one that might try to hold them back would be Mick as he worships the ground Stevie walks on too much (or would be too worried about putting the 2017/18 tour in jeopardy- $$$$$$$)

Oh yes. How good would this be?
(change Songbird for Why?)
Hell, I'd fly out to the States for this if I had to.

Mick and John are on it too, making it 4/5 of Fleetwood Mac. So basically the same as a lot of Tango in the Night. It should be Fleetwood Mac.

Oh yes, I don't disagree. It would be a political move though. Buckingham, McVie, McVie and Fleetwood as 'Fleetwood Mac' would effectively mean Stevie was fired. That just isn't going to happen. It probably should happen but it wont. They could release an album and tour as something else, not fire Stevie, drum up a lot of media interest for 'not being Fleetwood Mac', annoy Stevie, get her running back, do another album with all 5... all good again.

lol. deja vu - 1984 all over again?

although, i'm with people who are saying they should put it out as FM album if Stevie is not joining the band in the studio in the next few months. 7 years is way more than enough of them waiting for her. i really have to wonder how her contract with FM looks, considering i'm sure it was worked out by "Stevie's people". it's either that or the greed that makes them keep waiting.

but now when Christine is back and calling Mick every week full of energy and creativity, it's really a shame if nothing is happening.

if they don't put an album out and just go on yet another tour in 2017-2019, that will be just......... no words. :distress:

as far as Lindsey's songs go, i can't believe your lists. they are missing so much amazing stuff which would be great to hear with Christine. i'll justify it by assuming you must not have listened to his solo stuff. or his Tusk stuff or his SYW stuff ;)

No, I'm just speculating what they would play... there are just so many options...

I threw that together in like 1 min..

Its easy to criticize others without sharing your thoughts or creating your own list. ;) Like jbrownsjr, I wrote my list instantly off the cuff, my favorites and what would sound good live. Personally I would prefer only a Christine solo concert so I could hear classic Mac songs that are no longer performed. But since this thread threw Lindsey in the mix, I followed suit. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You may not like my Lindsey songs but they are some of my favorite solo Lindsey songs. I just thought it would be a fun last encore to hear Holiday Road even though I don't care for the song. My list is for my ears but also for the masses to throw in the hits....being a bit realistic. But I still stand by my list as total perfection :)

i was gonna spare you all, since i wrote so many of the lists of songs i want to hear from LB in the Lindsey forum (and handed him few of those lists lol). but since you asked i'll throw off the cuff a list of 10 LB songs i would love love love to hear live, to add to your or Jbrownsr's list of Chris songs:

Down on Rodeo
Walk a thin line
Go insane
That's the way love goes
Gone too far / You do or you don't
Turn it on
Underground
Red Rover
Rock away blind
In our own time
Murrow

sorry, sorry, i'm already over 10.... :sorry:

Oh...I can never get enough lists. Its nice to dream ;)
I still dream of Christine McVie solo in concert (literally).

Remember the early 90's MTV show "The List"
I loved that show. I believe you can never, ever have enough lists :)

FuzzyPlum 03-30-2016 04:47 PM

Both Buckingham McVie lists are really good lists and the sort of thing I'd want to see/hear...
...some solo songs, plenty of deep cut Fleetwood Mac songs and with just a smattering of FM hits to build a crescendo at the end and keep the casual fans happy.
Say You Will songs would be out of place on a Buckingham McVie setlist for obvious reasons (apart from BTLH and/or SYHA).

but then you can argue that Chris or Linds solo songs would be out for obvious reasons too.

as a Lindsey fan, there was almost nothing on those two lists that i would love to hear. same as there was almost no LB songs on the last FM tour that i really wanted to hear, other than BTLH and IKINW. but i loved hearing a number of Chris songs.

i can understand that because they were written by Chris fans, and that's fine. i'm just always shocked how un-interesting any Lindsey songs proposed are to me. people propose Trouble (which i can't stand) and Blue Letter a lot. i just don't get that and the only way i can justify it is that people are completely unfamiliar with LB solo output after his first 2 albums. and his solo output just got better, not worse.

now, my lists usually do not have hits, and if you wanna throw in dose of realism and dose of hits and dose of what LB and CM would actually select, my lists would look very different. but there's no reason for me to tell LB to do BL or ISA or GYOW. you know he'll do it every. single. time. so i don't like to waste space on those, but i agree that more realistic lists would need to have some hits.

hey, would Chris' fans be interested in doing something like this - http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showth...highlight=list ? top 10 LB songs if you are Christine fan? there were some interesting lists and selected songs by SN fans in that thread. i can start the thread in LB forum if you would be interested in playing?

also, here are some favorite LB song lists (http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showth...highlight=list) and wish setlists - http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showth...highlight=list - i know there were others but these were the ones i found by a quick search.

elle 03-30-2016 05:58 PM

i was curious so i combined and did a little analysis of 2 BM lists proposed so far. I listed twice the songs that were on both lists. i bolded songs already recently or regularly performed, either solo or with FM.

LB songs (10 all together, only 6 that he doesn't normally perform - and you all really want to hear Wrong!! ;) ):

Trouble - Trouble
Go Insane - Go Insane

Bleed to Love Her
Go Your Own Way - Go your own way
Wrong - Wrong
Great Day
Loving Cup
Countdown
Tango in the Night
Holiday Road

CM songs (18 all together):

Got A Hold On Me - Got a hold on me
You Are - You Are
Isn't It Midnight - Isnt It Midnight
Hold Me - Hold Me
Mystified
Say You Love Me
I'd Rather Go Blind
Don't Stop - Don't Stop
Songbird
Ask Anybody
Friend
Over and Over
Why
Come a little bit closer
Just Crazy Love
Think About Me
The Smile I live for

World Turning - LB/CM song

Crystal
Blue Letter

btw here is my Christine wish list - with a disclaimer that i don't know her solo or pre-Rumours era songs:

Hold me
Think about me
Songbird
Say you love me
Little lies (sorry, but i loved it on this tour!)
Everywhere
Don't stop (again, my apologies!)

since jbrownsr only came up with 6 LB songs (Crystal or Blue Letter don't count in my book) :p, i'm gonna call it a day with 7 Chris songs here - since i will freely admit i'm not familiar enough with her output.

plus, people - what are we doing? they have like 6 or 8 co-written new songs already! we should hear most of those!

are you sorry yet you asked me to share some lists Macfan4life?

Remember that is your opinion. I love Out of the Cradle. It had the best reviews of any Lindsey album. I love it but Go Insane is equally as good. But that is my opinion to disagree with you that Lindsey's albums got better and better.
I picked songs that have Chris and Lindsey singing together and harmonizing. I also picked the songs that really would go over great live. Lindsey plays guitar on The Smile I live For so it would be amazing live.

I guess I'm not entirely basing it on what I would ultimately personally like but more considering a good all-round show. As two artists in their own right it would make sense to play a number of their own solo songs. As they'd need to be mindful of the non-CM fans and the non-LB fans they'd best stick to the higher profile numbers- hence Lindsey playing the likes of Countdown, Trouble, Go Insane, Holiday Road etc. It would then be a good opportunity to have some fun and play some of the more obscure Fleetwood Mac songs that don't tend to get played as part of the 'Big Machine'. The ones noted are largely those they've either written together or have prominent vocals together. The reason I say Say You Will songs would be out is because there's no connection between the two of them on those songs. When you have all that material they worked together on as part of the band it wouldn't really make much sense to play anything/much from albums they didn't both play on. Adding a couple of higher profile FM hits would finish the show off on a high.

By doing that you'd cater to a wide range; CM fans, LB fans, casual FM fans, hard-core FM fans.
And yes, of course they should also play a load of their new material in there somewhere as well

as if it would happen!

sure and unlike many others i'm way too careful to state that most of what i say is imo. LB solo being one of the rare artists whose output is getting better and better and whose creativity didn't stop after initial hits is a pretty well accepted opinion though.

i'm hoping it's the same with Christine, she certainly seems to be extremely enthusiastic about writing new songs.

i just want to make sure that when someone states something like his first albums are better than latter ones, that person is actually familiar with all his UTS, GOS and SWS songs. it's your prerogative of course to like better whatever albums you like better - tastes are different, and even if something is musically great that doesn't mean everyone has to like it. plenty of people don't like Bach. ;)

Let's not forget all the songs they previously either wrote together or sing together:

World Turning
Don't Stop
Think About Me
Hold Me
You and I, part 1
You and I , part 2
Who's Dreaming this Dream

And some where their singing together isn't as obvious but still to me seem like Chris/Lindsey songs:
(Eyes of the World)
(everywhere)
(Little Lies)

SteveMacD 03-31-2016 01:31 AM

Not necessarily related, but if her coming back to Fleetwood Mac hadn't worked, I thought she should have put together a band full of ex-Mac and associated musicians and done a small "solo" tour.

Christine McVie
Billy Burnette
Bekka Bramlett
Rick Vito
George Hawkins
Stan Lynch
Dan Garfield
Lenny Castro

This list is actually vast improvement over your first one as far as lb stuff goes. Keep going and you'll get somewhere eventually! !

Btw I know it may be hard to believe but I'm actually well aware of their Tango cowrites and don't care about any of them. Hope their new cowrites are nothing like those! Now world turning on the other hand I love.
