Your Ideal Mac Setlist
With all of the talk about changes made to the OWTS setlist and speculation on what might be included in the next tour, I'd like to see what everyone's ideal setlist would be. The only criteria I'll stick by in mine is reasonable length (20 tracks or fewer). Here it is (in no particular order):
- Spare Me A Little (I would pay double for a concert if this song were included) - Go Your Own Way (A must include) - Landslide '' - Songbird '' - Got A Hold On Me (Would like to see a whole group performance) - Both Angel's (Would be cool to do this as a medley with Lindsey singing Bob Welch's) - Tango In The Night (as a World Turning/I'm So Afraid type jam) - Big Love - Love In Store - Why - Gypsy - Think About Me - I Know I'm Not Wrong - Honey Hi - I Don't Want To Know - You Make Loving Fun - Crystal (Sung by Stevie) - Jewel Eyed Judy (Sung by Lindsey) I left off Rhiannon, Dreams, Gold Dust Woman and Silver Springs because Stevie's voice just isn't cut out for those songs anymore. I felt the need to include some pre-BN songs to get away from some of the more overplayed songs, but I couldn't cut GYOW Landslide or Somgbird because there won't ever be a show without those three. Let me know what you think. |
There are lots of threads with "dream set list." I suppose we can only dream because the Mac and Stevie are probably the most ritualistic live performers ever. I know this would only happen in a dream but here it goes.
Stevie opens for the Mac. She does many of her solo hits and we get Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Landslide, and Rhiannon out of the way. Its great to see Stevie live and solo. Then the Mac takes the stage and digs really deep playing many Christine songs pre-Buckingham Nicks. Lindsey digs deep into Tusk and many of his Mac songs that are sometimes glossed over. Now THIS would be a concert :) |
They all come on stage and play 'Why'
Couldn't give a toss what they played after that- my dream setlist would be fullfilled. |
Mh, they don't play Dreams. Perfect set list.

big yes to LB's Tusk and SYW songs that are never played. |

Yes! Then Hold Me and Sara. |
My dream setlist would have to include Hold Me and Isn't It Midnight. They would do Isn't It Midnight just before Go Your Own Way at the end of the main set, and it would be a really high energy, rocking version. I'd add one of Christine's Tusk ballads, probably Never Make Me Cry, to the acoustic or "cocktail kit" part of the show. And I want a lot of new Christine/LB songs that they collaborated on and more of Christine's piano playing. Some bluesy/early 70s stuff that they could really jam out to. Maybe a Danny Kirwan song. I'd replace World Turning with something else.
Lindsey: Bring back Eyes of the World (Mirage-style), Not That Funny (with Christine on piano). Play Tango In The Night instead of I'm So Afraid. I'd add multiple songs from Out of The Cradle and Gift of Screws (2008), there are some very Mac-like songs on there that I would much rather hear than the standard Rumours fare. I liked the full-band Go Insane in 2009 and want more stuff like that. Stevie: Angel, Crying in the night, Races are run, That's alright, Sorcerer? Something different, I don't know  If songs like Rhiannon and Gypsy were included, it would be in different versions/ arrangements. Would prefer completely new songs altogether, as long as they're good ones. :D |
OK, I'll play.
Not in any order - this is just stream-of-consciousness. Why Sugar Daddy That's Alright Walk A Thin Line The Chain, in the form of the demo on the deluxe Rumours, sung by Stevie I Know I'm Not Wrong Eyes of the World Sable On Blonde, because I want to hear John and Mick play this one Think About It, Rumours outtake version Gypsy, acoustic guitar only like AHI benefit performance with Lindsey Got A Hold On Me, because why not? The Ledge Honey Hi Wish You Were Here Tango In The Night When I See You Again Hold Me Destiny Rules Think About Me You And I, parts 1 and 2 Holiday Road Everybody Finds Out As Long As You Follow |
1) The Chain
2) Isn't It Midnight 3) Everybody Finds Out 4) Second Hand News 5) Little Lies 6) Gold Dust Woman [A version like from Stevie's 1981 or 1983 solo tours - I love the long versions but we do not need five minutes of just guitar and "You can't take me down!"] 7) Miranda 8) Big Love [Full Band] 9) Brown Eyes 10) Landslide 11) Hold Me 12) The Ledge 13) Destiny Rules 14) Say You Love Me 15) Not That Funny ENCORE 1 - 16) Go Your Own Way 17) Rhiannon 18) Crystal [Lindsey singing the first verse, Stevie singing the second verse, and both singing the chorus' together] ENCORE 2 - 19) Songbird ~ This is one of my many ideal setlists. |
No backing musicians except on acoustic guitar
Don't Look Down (Lindsey does the guitar intro in a spotlight and then they launch into the song.. full band) The Chain (long version... not the shortened Dance version they do now) Isn't It Midnight That's Alright Big Love (full band) Hold Me (on the upright piano) Sara (on the upright piano) Not That Funny (long version on upright piano) You Make Lovin Fun Beautiful Child (Grand piano/ just the three singers) Tango In The Night (extended solo) As Long As You Follow Straight Back Mystified (just Christine and Lindsey) Without You (Just Stevie and Lindsey) Bella Donna Gold Dust Woman Great Day I Don't Wanna Know Sugar Daddy Go Your Own Way Don't Stop (on the upright) Songbird |

Mac Unplugged sounds good to me.They can keep all the instruments in the closet and go acapella.
|
well, they just released that Tusk deluxe set.
Springsteen is currently touring his The River box set. he's doing all 4 sides of The River album, every song, in order as sequenced on the album, following by 12 more songs, of which about half are different from tour date to tour date. so......... they can do Tusk in sequence, all songs like on the album, followed by 12 more songs, out of which half are different every date.:p yeah, right. - no balls for something like that this is Mac we are talking about! even if they'd do half of the above it would be great. |
20 songs from Tusk.
So Afraid,Go your own way, Rhiannon and Why. |
Quote:
that's only 24 and completely doable - that's about how many songs they've been doing anyway. (Springsteen's set is 33 songs, currently, including 20 from The River.) |

Well done. If we didn't have any new songs (which is what I'd want) then this set list would be quite brilliant. Very fresh but still retaining plenty of familiarity (For me you could throw out Dreams though). |
12 songs from a brand new album released in 2016.

Instead of my ideal set list for today
I would go back in time and see Why and Rhiannon in 1976 I would go back in time and see Gold Dust Woman in 1977 on the Rumours tour. I would go see The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, Say You Love Me, Over & Over, Sara, Not That Funny, and Go Your Own Way in 1979 on the Tusk tour. I would go see Hold Me, Sara, and Gypsy in 1982 And Everywhere, Stand Back, Gold Dust Woman, and Isn't It Midnight in 1987, but with Lindsey instead of Rick and Billy. In my time travel I would create some sort of butterfly effect to make sure Lindsey did the Tango tour. |

As I said in another thread, with their new voices and stage presences, the tracks that I'd like the most to hear live from them are the more blues, folk and coutry oriented. It would be an amazing occasion to finally perform the songs that are well known but somehow have never been executed live. These are the tunes I'd like to hear now, in no particular order, and if you throw in some Buckingham-Nicks as well I'd die happy:
Why Spare me a little Warm ways Over my head Crystal I don't wanna know The chain Gold dust woman Save me a place Angel Brown eyes Never make me cry Honey hi Beautiful child Love in store That's alright Hold me Temporary one Thrown down Smile at you |
No particular order :)
-Isn't It Midnight -All Over Again -Why -That's Alright -Never Make Me Cry -Everybody Finds Out -I Know I'm Not Wrong -Save Me -Storms -Tango In The Night -Straight Back -Never Forget -Steal Your Heart Away -Nights in Estoril -Heroes Are Hard to Find -As Long As You Follow -Fireflies -Think About Me -Beautiful Child -Warm Ways |
My ideal setlist is to change the freaking setlist into the shuffle mode for each show for us that see the show a dozen times in the same tour. This also includes the solo tours too.
