when will Stevie's 2016 solo shows get announced?
we all know she'll do at least a short tour, lol. How far in advance are her US shows usually announced?
|
I've bought tickets for Stevie solo shows at least 8 months in advance, so I'm sure they'll be announced fairly early. However, I really don't see the point of touring behind an album that was released more than a year ago and has since fizzled out without much fanfare. But, alas, Stevie has done stranger things, so let's see.
|
I'm Facebook friends with Jimmy Paxson, and about a week or so ago he made an off-the-cuff remark about being free until March. He's a talented musician and a busy guy so it could be anything, but I couldn't help but think, "What do you have to do in March?" :)

I'm coming to the US in May, so I really need her to be touring then, lol. I hope something is announced sooner rather than later, as I like to plan travelling well in advance. |

I don't think it's too late to still promote the album as a body of work. I'm sure she's not expecting to send it racing back into the charts. |

The drastic changes in the music industry and the influence of social media begets a ME mentality "I paid good money --I want to hear the hits or else it will suck ", or "no one will show up if she doesn't play this or that song, and plays too many new songs we don't know!" These are not the typical edicts of genuine music aficionados. Is it not possible to go to a show of an unknown/little known band, and still enjoy the performance even if you're not familiar with the songs? If it happens to be a singer or band you admire, it shouldn't matter if they stray from their beaten path and present something new in lieu of familiar, well-worn material. It's been said that Stevie could sing the phone book (and people would listen). The stigma of legacy artists playing new songs is self-inflicted as much as it is from the pressure of commercial interests. Commerce rules and trumps artistry. But I don't blame the artists. It is their business, and profit margins matter, so comprise is part of the deal. Fleetwood Mac is very fortunate that they can rest heavily on their laurels. Stevie still has time to shake it up a bit. I hope she ceases that opportunity. |

Are we reacting to this as a fact? This is just an assumption as of now.
Is there a fear that she is going go on tour and glut the set list with 24 Karat Gold songs? It is so unprecedented. Typically, when she tours a new album, we're lucky if we get four or five songs from the album; then she ends up dropping at least one of them. The body of work that will be presented from the album will likely be slim. If she does go on tour, who is say it's going to be branded as a 24 Karat Gold tour? She might call it something else, and feature a few songs from the album. |
Its alittle to early to tell.We have to give her a break after touring with FM for over a year.
I hope something pops up for late spring and summer 2016. |

As far as new songs go, didn't she do 6 from IYD in 2011 after the success of the Wiltern "Showcase" show? Maybe she'll follow suit and do more than the standard 2 or 3 new songs from 24Karat Gold. Part of me thinks she's wiped out from the FM tour but I also think she can't sit around for long...plus her solo career seems to bring her more enjoyment and fulfillment. FM appears to be more of an obligation than something she genuinely enjoys and gets excited about. |
I hope she does mostly solo stuff, whether the majority is from 24k or not, on any solo tour. Dear god how many more times can she do Dreams, Gold Dust, Rhiannon etc after having done them for two years on this tour with FM alone, and the previous tour.....gag. Mix it up for gawd's sake. She's got what, 8 solo albums of new (non compilation) material to pick from......
The solo singles alone would be a whole set's worth of material (and we know she won't do a lot of those, for various reasons). But if the singles alone would make a full set, how amazing could her set be if she chose from all those album cuts? Enough with the same old **** already. |

Awesome news!
Now all the "grumpies" on this forum (who were CERTAIN Stevie wasn't going to participate) can shut the hell up now. |

Well, looks like the solo fans might be getting their wish after all. The website was just updated:

HOWEVER, If this info is indeed true, I'm glad we're getting both a new Mac record and another solo venture. Now the question is exactly WHAT are these solo "projects"? Another album? A tour? I have a strong feeling that regardless of when the new album is complete, Fleetwood Mac will still wait to release it in 2017 to coincide with the Rumours anniversary. So that's a year, or year and a half away. Plenty of time for Stevie to join the band for a month (or less) to work on her songs and do back up vocals on the other songwriter's songs. If solo project(s) means a new album and tour, there's plenty of time to do that as well. Considering that it took five months from the day Stevie flew to Nashville, up until the release of 24KG, I'd say another SFTV project is do-able. Not so sure another collaboration of new material with Dave Stewart (a la "IYD") would fit inside that time frame, but anything is possible if demos of new material already exist, so I wouldn't count that out. Then of course she also said she wanted to tour behind 24KG, so there's a good three months dedicated to that. Also plausible within the next year or year and a half. If I were to hypothetically guess a timeline for the next year, I'd say 2016 Jan-Feb ~ vacation and rest from the past year of touring Mar ~ Studio with Fleetwood Mac April ~ Nashville for new album sessions? April thru Sept ~ overdubs and finishing touches on both solo and Fleetwood projects Oct ~ release 9th solo album Oct-Dec ~ 3 month tour to promote both 24KG and new solo album? 2017 Jan-April ~ rest May ~ new Fleetwood Mac album released. Rumours is repackaged, remastered and rereleased for the millionth time with yet more rare crap we didn't know about. May til the next year - HUGE tour (maybe even Farewell Tour?) to promote new album and Rumours. Of course, as always, ALL of this is just wishful thinking on my part.:D |

I'm not sure I like the idea of a FM album being released more than a year after it was recorded though (athough many of the tracks would be several years after they were first recorded). |

I never thought she wouldn't do an album, just like I never thought I would die. The question is WHEN will it happen. I wanted a new album two years ago and I don't blame Stevie for it not happening. I blame the other four for putting up with her nonsense and not just recording without her, without regard to the commercial impact. I always said that they could do an album as a foursome and then do ANOTHER album with Stevie whenever Stevie decided she was ready. That way we would have had two albums instead of the one we might be getting when they start hitting the age of 75. Her finally discussing the possibility of a new album doesn't erase or refute the complaints that have been made for years. And it's not as if her unflailing supporters have been proven right about anything. I don't recall that many people saying she wouldn't do an album. I think the complaints were about the TIME it was taking for her to say yes or no and keeping everyone hanging. This vague announcement doesn't change any of that. I always knew she would do an album, too. But my thought was leave her alone and she'll come home wagging her tail behind her. if the others had just proceeded to record without her -- or if they do that even NOW that would hasten her decision to finally record with them. She's only holding out as long as they keep waiting and begging. They made all of their tour money, so they don't have anything to lose by recording without her. And it won't be the band's swan song, because they can record WITH her in the future and even get more attention for the album of five, BECAUSE they had done one in her absence. Michele Michele |

I'm sure Barry could fill their shoes if need be. Who's more dexterous than he? ____________________________________ Michelle, Michelle, Is this a new Seinfeld episode I don't know about? That last post was about as rankled as I've read from you. Old Stephanie seems to be getting under everyone's skin. |

Stevie is probably in Phoenix for the holidays and then will take some time to work on her solo tour (with or without a new release) before working on Fleetwood Mac's new album. I'm looking forward to at least a short solo tour--since the 14K tour was postponed for FM's worldwide tour with Christine.
I don't understand why so many people doubted that Stevie would participate in FM's new (and probably final) album. The only statement she made was that she wanted to wait until the end of the tour before making plans--and now she has let everyone know that she's on board. Let's look forward to the new work that FM will be involved in--both individually and collectively. I can't wait to see what next year brings! |
She is not, I repeat, is not playing the Florida Theatre in
Jacksonville Florida on February 30, 2016. |

With this thread on MSG.I now wonder whats going on.
http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=53470 If FM plays there.Maybe they could makeup the canceled dates while they are at it.On second thoughts they probably wont because of costs of crew and bookings. Also it looks like Dave has something brewing too. |
