What if FM performed Tusk in its entirety at New York's Beacon Theatre
 

No...not really. But wouldn't that be awesome!!? They've nearly covered the entire live over the years. They could do a stint of dates at the Beacon, it wouldn't even have to be a full tour. I'm sure it wouldn't draw enough cash for them to pony up the effort though.

What I meant was...i'm sure they would sell out the beacon in a heartbeat for multiple nights, however they just don't seem to ever pursue those kind of engagements. It's like they do 40+ nights in arenas or nothing at all. I just don't think their managers and business people would advise them to do it because they can make better money doing other things.

Lindsey has been asked about it before and he wasn't exactly sold on it because doing a whole album, you can't craft the arc of the show and build it up the way a setlist needs to be thought out. I think he's missing the point - people are coming to hear that album because they LOVE that album. They have that album memorized from beginning to end. That particular sequence of songs is a huge part of what they love and are coming to see. The center almost shifts from being about the band and their crafted "show", to being about the album itself and it being performed live, presented as a particular body of work. It's a whole different concept and the audience that shows up for that kind of experience is going to have a different mentality than that of the casual rock concert attendee.

I also think a good chunk of the band would think nobody would show up to hear them do that entire album. It would revert back to the whole BS about putting too many new songs into the set that "nobody knows".

There are quite a few songs they have never done live or haven't done live in a very long time. They clearly put together "Think About Me" pretty quickly for the Australian tour - They could totally do it if they really wanted to. Add a second set of other hits and wrap it up with Songbird!

I'm surprised you didn't mention that you and me attended a show in Boston several years ago where Tusk was performed in its album running order.

i would LOVE LOVE LOVE this! some of my favorite Lindsey's FM songs are on Tusk and they have either never been performed live, or performed just a few times on original Tusk tour. i would probably go every single day, if i could snatch the tickets. i like the location, easy for me to get to, too - it's like you designed this as a present to me. :blob2::xoxo:

Now I digress...just because

I just discovered on Youtube an unbelievably talented four member band called Lake Street Dive. Perhaps you have heard of them; they have have been around for a few years.

Two women and two men. One of the women is the lead vocalist, the other is a singer who plays an upright bass. One of the men is a singer who plays a horn and sometimes a guitar, the other is a singer who plays the drums. Together they are magic and give me the chills. Everything they play is f*cking amazing. Besides their original songs, they cover a lot of songs from various influences (they cover Second Hand News).

They are an exceptionally tight and accomplished group. They are unbelievable. They passed through Portland a few years ago. Luckily they will be back in town on March 3rd at the Crystal Ballroom, a beautiful vintage venue where I've seen numerous shows...just several blocks away from my current residence.

We sort of have a live version of the ledge thru the tusk rehearsals.

Do you remember how tough it was to find a parking spot that night in Boston but when we finally did it was right in front of the club?

I have never heard of Lake Street Drive. Do you suppose those four members grew up on that street?

Dive, not Drive...an easy mistake I initially made. Yes I remember that karma was on our side when we found that parking space. Boston is not an easy city to live in or even visit. Having a big account makes it easier.

I wonder if they hung out together at Lake Street Dive when they were growing up on Lake Street Drive?:xoxo::laugh:
