Stevie on Don Henley's new album (Target Exclusive version)

Pardon me if this has been posted, but I didn't see it.

Stevie Nicks is on Don Henley's new album Cass County, but it's only on the Target exclusive version. The song she appears on is "It Don't Matter to the Sun."

SO excited!!!!

Don't see her in the credits...So I wonder what role she played on the song...

Don Henley / Target

She is mentioned for "It Don't Matter to the Sun" on Don's facebook page Henley Facebook

Jondalar 09-19-2015 11:29 PM

He looks old. He's got that "I whipe my asss with leaves" look.

louielouie2000 09-19-2015 11:52 PM

It's interesting- all of the photos used for promoting Cass County weren't actually taken in Cass County (Texas, where Henley is from), they are all in neighboring Harrison County, on Caddo Lake. False advertising! :p

In any event, I really look forward to hearing this duet with Stevie! :]

Macfanforever 09-19-2015 11:54 PM

I dont know how Mick Jagger got on it but the rest are great country artists I like.I love to hear this album.

iamnotafraid 09-20-2015 02:02 AM

Looking at that track list you'd think it
would be Waiting Tables.

Jondalar,
Stop making me laugh.

I wish I didn't know that Henley is such
an onry person. I'd probably buy this release
if not. I think if he smiled it'd break his face.

He's a "serious" Artiste. Though I think The Last Worthless Evening is a stunning song!

It is. He's truly a great songwriter. New York Minute is a particular favorite of mine. I'm excited to hear this. He's going to be on CBS Sunday Morning today.

Yeah...I'm a little bummed to see (or hear) no mention of Stevie on this either.

I'll probably still get it. It sounds really good.

"Serious Artiste," indeed...there's even a T.S. Eliot quote. Ha! :)

Do usually elders wipe their asses with leaves in the US?

sue 09-20-2015 12:27 PM

Yes, for some it's a tradition in the United States. They go out to woods to die in their old age. They eat what they can forage, catch ringworm, and use leaves as toilet paper. I'm assuming that Don has been living in Walden Woods for awhile, probably only leaving to cut an album. He definitely looks crusty. Probably over did the viagra too. Not sure what Europeans do.

If they're old enough they use mostly their own hands.

Well, the good thing is our poop doesn't stink in the United States.

pattyfan 09-20-2015 01:21 PM

This is a stupid question, but can we get the version with Stevie and a mortar and brick store or do we have to order it online?

No, not elderly people, but maybe those who live isolated away from society.

People used to say the Sears catalog -- but Sears has been having business troubles lately and then the environment has gone green too, which reduces volume. The catalog paper wouldn't get you very far in a digestive crisis.

When did they record this song together.I'm surprised she did not get attack from the fans that desperate for a new FM album, If this was recorded recently.

Henley has been slowly working on this album for the last four years. It could have been recorded anytime.

I'm not a big Henley fan. I haven't ardently followed his solo career outside of the Eagles. But I surely respect his talent. (I think he looks great for man in his sixties --not that it matters much).

I am planning a trek to Target to purchase the exclusive version of his album which features two other tracks -- one with Stevie.

Even though I want Stevie to polish up more lingering demos and churn out another 24 Karat Gold-like album, I hope Don's album inspires her to seriously consider doing a country-leaning album of her own. It could possibly become a cross-over success. She has that natural country sensibility in her.

Somewhat incongruous side note: After the Mamas & Papas broke up, John Phillips took a hard right turn and released a surprisingly stunning country album. Though it it wasn't a commercial success, it was well-respected. Michelle said it could have been a great Mamas and Papas album. Stevie can make a great country album on her own, and I think the country world would embrace her.

And she likely spent just a few hours in the studio; not too much of a commitment.

James89 09-21-2015 10:47 AM

That's a coincidence, isn't Too Far Gone a song that is in the running for the new Mac album?

I've been saying Stevie should try the country field since I joined this forum 12 years ago and just noticed almost 9000 posts later .She can do it .I dont know why she holding out on doing a country album. What she is afraid of.Others did and had hits.Don't be afraid to test the waters.

I always enjoyed and love the Eagles and its members solo albums. The Eagles are one of the key starter for country rock and country crossover and probably influenced most of the current country artists.

I agree hanging with Don and others in the country field .Hanging out in Nashville lately around country people in the biz.Hopefully she gets into a country album.
And invited to the Grand Ole Opry .I will fly down there to see her on the stage.

I always enjoyed Mamas and the Papas.John Phillips is great.I got to check more out from him.My mom loved Cass Elliot.

She can still do her 24K part deux because we want it plus promote it with a small tour and do the FM album to get some fans of her rear for holding up the project. After that is all said and done. She can record something country.

I was remiss to mention Stevie's friend Sheryl Crow went country with her last album, and and she was welcomed into that community. Maybe that will give Stevie a little nudge.

Your mom had good musical tastes! I happen to be in a Cass phase at the moment; I've been playing all of her solo albums, which is really only five albums (one with Dave Mason) and a live album, but with an amount of stray songs and bonus tracks to to constitute several other albums.

Check out John Phillips' first album "John the Wolfking og LA."

vivfox 09-22-2015 10:23 AM

I love Stevie's Country Music demos and she has plenty of time later to sing that genre. What I want is a pure rock and roll record from her. No ballads. Seeing performances like last night's Stop Draggin' and GDW with the Foo Fighters in Los Angeles only reaffirms that feeling for me. She always claimed to be a rock-roll singer. I want to hear more of that.(Yeah Skip, I know you are not a fan of loud screaming guitars. And I am not either except when SN is involved).

I've always loved this Garth Brooks song...and hearing Don and Stevie sing it makes it even more awesome!

Machu 09-25-2015 05:14 PM

I SO love Stevie's vocals on this song. I would love to hear a Stevie only version of this song but Don & Stevie is always a welcome treat, imo.

annabellee 09-25-2015 05:43 PM

Heavy Rotation!

sorcerer999 09-25-2015 06:12 PM

Sweet song! Stellar vocals from both! I can't believe this is a "bonus track".

Steviegirl 09-25-2015 06:16 PM

Stevie's voice sounds beautiful, and it's a really pretty song.

[QUOTE=Phoenixgypsy;1172847]I've always loved this Garth Brooks song...

annabellee 09-25-2015 06:43 PM

This song is Grammy worthy for both. Awards don't matter, but yes they do and this is the song. Why relegate it to a bonus track? Unless that is crafty marketing...

I had myself convinced it would be Nicole who would find it for us. LOL. Thank you, Danielle. The song is precious. Stevies' part is too short though.
