After they thought it would go ahead too.

Here's hoping they're ok to continue from Sunday's IoW fest onwards.

Looking at the arena website, it seems like it's not been rescheduled either. Not very happy about that.

OK, got a text message saying I've been refunded for the meet and greet. I've bought one of the few remaining M&G tickets for 1st July. Second row this time unfortunately :(

Wow, they could at least let the fans know why. There's no shame in being ill.

That's a nice way to treat people. That was my 30th birthday gift from my sister to get us both tickets (she's a big fan too)

Now I don't suppose we'll ever get the chance to see them again.

Second row?! That's so bad! :P

This is my second cancelled show after Lindsey cancelled his show at The Lowry in December 2011. Maybe he should have done his makeup show for that one tonight :)

Sorry to all the people who had tickets.

Maybe Chris is really ill, but a part of me believes this is so they're all fresh for IoW: the big money grabber.

If this is the case, the band shouldn't be treating fans in this way: if they couldn't commit to all these dates, why make them in the first place?

Fleetwood Mac cancel Manchester Arena show tonight

Many Liverpool fans were expected to travel to see the band play the show tonight


Fleetwood Mac have cancelled their Manchester Arena gig due to illness.

It is the second gig in a week the British-American band has cancelled, after Birmingham's gig on Wednesday was postponed and rescheduled for a later date.

A tour promoter statement said: "We are very sorry to announce that tonight’s Fleetwood Mac ‘On With The Show’ tour date in Manchester has been cancelled due to illness.

"Refunds for tonight’s cancelled date in Manchester will be issued automatically within 14 days.

"The 1 July show will go ahead as planned.

"Should you need any further assistance, please contact your ticket seller directly."

No further details, such as which member has taken ill, have been made available.

Fleetwood Mac are also scheduled to headline the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday.

Stevie Nicks and co are in the middle of their On With The Show Tour, which takes in the UK and Ireland before the band jet off to play arenas in Australia.

Am really sad for everyone who had tickets and is now unable to go and see them on another date. I hate to think there's something shady going on and these dates have been cancelled in prep for IOW. Surely not. Disappointing to think that's the case :shrug:

Feel sorry for all of you due to attend tonight's show with no re-scheduled date announced. Found this quote from the Manchester Evening news:

As we know that Christine has lost her voice, it might be a case of a close call on whether to risk her voice before the Isle of Wight gig and put that show at risk.
Still no consolation for all you guys :distress:

Maybe she needs to rest her voice, or put the whole Europe leg in jeopardy...
But as loads of us have commented on: there have been way too many concerts in this tour....

I just hope she's okay. 71 is not young and an illness in the midst of a world tour could mean some major down time is necessary.

A landslide of emotion has swept through social media from those who had planned to attend the sold-out concert this evening as it cannot even be rescheduled.

Mel, who received the news via text, said: “Fleetwood Mac have cancelled. Most devastating text ever!”

Christian Twigg-Felsner added: “Absolutely gutted. Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity gone. I could cry.”

And for Lydia Chilton today has been a double whammy of woes. She said: “Not only have Fleetwood Mac cancelled when I'm half way to Manchester but I also accidentally bought sparkling water. Everything is bleak.”

Gig organisers Live Nation issued an apology this morning and confirmed that refunds for tickets will be completed within the next 14 days.

They said: “We are very sorry to announce that tonight’s Fleetwood Mac ‘On With The Show’ tour date in Manchester, UK, has been cancelled due to illness.

The band intend to resume the tour with their scheduled performance at the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday June 14.

“Should you need any further assistance, please contact your ticket seller directly.”

But for some die-hard hard fans the promise of a refund doesn’t appear to be enough. We’re sure if they could they’d tell Live Nation to ‘go their own way’.

Peachie said: “LIVID Fleetwood Mac have cancelled and not even rescheduled!? I can't control my emotions right now!”

And John added: “Fleetwood Mac have cancelled their show tonight? How horrible is that!! A lot of people have waited a long time to see them.”

Others were easier to console, however, like Claire Hannah whose day was improved by her sister bringing her some mushy pea bakes.

As far as tours go On With the Show is the most lucrative in Fleetwood Mac's long history.They just got too greedy by adding too many shows for a group of senior citizens.

The fact that they have done this many shows is disturbing. It has to be all about the money. What about new music (even though it's not lucrative) for us fans? I blame mostly Stevie, but it's all their faults for being so freaking greedy. This big a tour at their age? Shame on them.

Of course its all about the money . . . . If it wasnt they would have done
Glastonbury. But glastonbury are known not to pay the bands the millions that over festivals do because most goes to charity. A nice thing
for Fleetwood mac to of done, considering the millions they made on their
tour 2 years or so ago and the current tour.

They could have closed glasto ( they kept that weekend free ) and get their
whole set on BBC. They would have played to a much bigger crowd too!

I remember Stevie saying she watched Beyonce on the pyramid and said she
would love to do it when she was in London playing hyde park gig with Rod.

I was so sure they would - managed to get tickets this year and last few years
in hope. But no, they went with the money . . . .

In fairness, Stevie has been pretty vocal about there being too many dates on the tour.

I totally blame her for stalling and possibly destroying the prospect of a new album. And for this I am disgusted. However, I think Mick (and possibly Lindsey?) are behind the number of dates and the 20 additional gigs in the US.

^^^But why did Stevies management agree about the 20 more US and 10 more Eurpoe shows then? She does not like it, why doing it?

I wonder if Mick is ready for any flack that might come his way at the M&G? Could be interesting!!:eek:

Gutted Fleetwood Mac fans have vented their disappointment at tonight’s cancelled Manchester Arena show.

Promoters announced earlier today that their On With The Show tour could not go on after all due to a band member falling ill.

It is the second date the 60s and 70s rock legends have had to call off on the UK leg of their tour after dropping out of their Birmingham gig at the last minute on Tuesday.

But while the Genting Arena show has been rescheduled for July 7, it is understood promoters have failed to find another Manchester date to fit the band’s tour schedule.

The news is especially disappointing as it is Christine McVie’s first tour in 16 years with ex-husband John McVie and bandmates Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Christine is the songwriter and voice behind some of the band’s most enduring hits, including Don’t Stop, Little Lies and You Make Loving Fun.

The band’s second show in Manchester on July 1 is set to go ahead as planned but is already sold out, leaving fans with no option than to pay ramped-up resale prices or barter with touts to get their hands on tickets.

Among those hit hardest by the news was Hannah Owen, who wrote on Facebook: “Absolutely gutting. My dear dad bought tickets for my mum and him to go for Christmas. He has sadly passed away and poor mum was so keen to go as it’s what he wanted.

“No reschedule and no tickets left for 1st July show. Such a shame.”

Fans had been due to travel from far and wide for the Manchester gig and some had already arrived in the city before hearing the news.

Among them was Jeroen van Drunen, who flew in from Hungary yesterday just to see them perform.

Fran Haselden had also planned to travel across England for the show. She wrote on the MEN’s website: “I’m so gutted. I’ve been waiting for this since the tickets were released with anticipation.

“We were heading up from the south east this afternoon. We’ve lost a day of pay each to be able to drive up, and it was our last chance. I am so gutted, I cannot believe they are not rescheduling it.”

Amongst the disappointment was also sympathy and concern for the afflicted band member, whose identity has not been revealed.

Smalley (@nicksmallshaw) tweeted: “Hoping for a swift recovery, but no rescheduled gig is devastating. Can’t see me ever getting tickets again.”

Kay and Geoff Harrison wrote on Facebook: “Absolutely gutted, but do hope whichever band member is ill gets well soon!!! Sob sob!”

A few fans remained upbeat enough to see the punny side, with some questioning whether it was just rumours and others hoping the news was ‘lies, sweet little lies’. If only...

So Stevie has been vocal about this tour being too long, with too many gigs. But where is her management? They must have agreed to this schedule and certainly not against their clients wishes. I don't get it, if Stevie really was against the tour being so long, she could have just said NO!.

Well that's the big question isn't it?...Who has the final approval when the subject of adding extra shows is brought up?
What are the requirements laid out in the contracts the 5 band members signed when they agreed to this tour...

I would guess it's more of the management/promoters /accountants (basically anyone who gets paid a percentage of the profits ) pushing for the extra dates (let's get all we can ($$$) from FM while we can) than the band it's self...

I think its now the promoters are pushing this tour along .You know they love money makers like FM,Stones,Springsteen and so on.

Who's going to refuse big money in this day of age .Nobody.Including me.LOL..

If the Mac was in the states without commitments in Europe ,They probably book them for this weekends Bonnaroo fest.
