Possible 24KG tour

So if Stevie does tour next year for 24KG, will she brand it heavily with 24KG as I can't see many people going to see her shows if they don't think she'll perform the classics.

Let's face it, 24KG has only sold about 90,000 copies in the US so all the people who would need to fill out the venues would've had to have heard the album which they wouldn't have done.

If I was Stevie I would call the tour something else and just add a few of the tracks from 24KG into the setlist and talk about the album maybe during the show so the old fans who loved her previous stuff can learn about the new album and buy it.

Does anyone else think that if it's called 'The 24KG tour' she's not going to get a big audience? The same happened with IYD and the tour was mildly successful but for an act like Stevie, it should've been bigger.

Any thoughts on this?

olive 06-07-2015 03:57 PM

concert were so much better before the artist had to brand them the set lists were loose and changed nightly .

MikeInNV 06-07-2015 04:46 PM

While 24KG SFTV wasn't a good name for an album of previously unreleased material, I don't think it would hurt the tour any to call it 24KG. If anything, it might make people think she's only going to do hits and classics. And I would imagine she will do a handful of 24KG songs, but all of the classics she always does as well. No one should go away unhappy.

SisterNightroad 06-07-2015 04:48 PM

She didn't add many new tracks from In your dreams during the tour for that album, so I don't see her do anything extraordinary with her setlist, she'll sing the same old songs and throw in The dealer, Starshine, 24K gold, Mabel Normand and Lady, maybe even less.
Not to complain, it's still great, but she's one to play safe.

BLY 06-07-2015 07:54 PM

Not to be a Debbie downer but I don't see a 24k tour. If Stevie does any touring next year it will be to promote the final Fleetwood Mac album.

But she and Waddy have talked about it. Also, I think Stevie probably feels an obligation to tour because of Waddy and Carlos too, since she's been off the road for so long and she knows she is Waddy's main source of income. So, I see it happening, but it probably won't be that expansive a tour.

The thing is, if they rehearse and put a show together, even if they only play 20 dates, they can also do some corporate gigs and get big paychecks from that.

My fat a$$ will be there. It better be late spring or summer. Not this winter tour crap.

Stevie would definitely perform all of her "classics" mixed in with a few 24KG songs. She has talked numerous times about how she's learned to only add a few new songs at once when touring so as not to cut out people's favorite songs or something.

I'd honestly be super excited for an exclusively 24KG set list, even without Landslide or Dreams, but I know that's in the minority of her fan base. I would love to see her solo though, regardless of what she plays! And I think the 24 Karat Gold Tour would be a great tour name... Maybe getting the name out would increase album sales for casual fans who would go to her concert but haven't heard the album yet.

Jondalar 06-07-2015 09:47 PM

I don't think she will tour. The Fleetwood Mac tour is too long and she is sick of touring.

I think she's never get sick of touring .She's been out and about yearly with tours since I remember.

poetinmyheart 06-08-2015 03:24 AM

I would love Stevie to do a UK/Europe solo tour. But I guess we'll live in hope and die in despair over that one.

She should have toured here with In Your Dreams. I think she underestimates her UK/European following massively.

Aussie W/Heart 06-08-2015 07:38 AM

I think my prediction in the Rumours thread was on the money  Rest, short solo tour then start recording with F/M late 2016.. LOL that idea went down like a lead balloon  :D

I cant wait for the Mac tour to finish, i will be seeing them in Nov id be more excited if i had a better seat:mad:.

Yay!! 24 Karat Gold tour ..Bring it on!

Would love her to do a short solo stint in OZ as well, unfortunately i think she will run out of time..

twinmatrix 06-08-2015 08:01 AM

I just want her to tour Europe solo. Anywhere and I'll go see her. x

I think she's just simply sick of FM. She has either toured or recorded new music every year this century. I don't foresee her changing that behavior. After the FM tour, she's going to stomp off to her solo career in order to thumb her nose at Lindsey. I highly doubt a new solo album is coming any time soon, so it will be in the form of a solo tour.

If this is what it takes to get Stevie back to the FM recording table, then by all means...

PenguinHead 06-09-2015 04:27 AM

Why bother embarking on a tour to promote 24 Karat Gold, yet performing 3 songs from the album and the same old songs she's been performing for 3o something years?

If she really serious about her new songs, she should perform and film a few intimate gigs as "The Songs from the Vault show - 80% album songs 20% old songs. Feature it like The Dance. Debut it on TV, promote it on the internet. Make appearances on high profile shows like The View, Ellen (everyone gets a copy of the album!) and Jimmy Fallon. There are so many untapped, creative ways of marketing besides a stale oldies tour.

Exactly. We should all tweet or Facebook Dave and tell him to get Stevie to tour Europe and especially the UK. She needs to know that there's a call for a solo tour here. It would've only have been 27 years!

MoonSister75 06-09-2015 07:01 AM

I would absolutely love her to play in Europe, even if it was just one date! I guess it's unlikely it will happen, but you never know..........

I agree with this.

James89 06-09-2015 12:37 PM

I don't blame her touring it but it can be a little embarrassing when a high profile person like Stevie goes on a show and says "No. This album isn't quite new, it's a year old but it didn't sell so I'm only here so people at home can go and buy it."

Just tour Stevie because you want to and not because you want to sell more copies of 24KG. Just promote the tour on the big TV programmes and slip in the fact that it's a great album and it's out there. :)

KarmaContestant 06-09-2015 04:53 PM

I don't think Stevie is touring because of sales.

I think Stevie is going to tour because she's got a newly discovered love for these songs - otherwise they wouldn't have been selected for 24 Karat Gold. Other than laying down vocals, she hasn't had her time to explore these new songs on the stage.

Stevie *always* plays a few new tracks, and I' sure this upcoming tour will be no exception. It doesn't matter if the album is a year old, or 18 months - it's still new to her, because she recorded it and then went right to work with Fleetwood Mac, leaving her album to collect dust.

My 2 cents.

Stevie played 6 songs from IYD consistently, 8 at the first show and 9 were played total if you count her one off New Orleans performance in New Orleans. I dont know where you're getting this 3 songs from

Totally! And let's not forget 6 new songs performed on the TISL tour...

"Sorcerer"
"Planets"
"Every Day"
"Bombay"
"Fall From Grace"
"Too Far From Texas"...were all played at every show I attended.

Stand Back
Starshine
Dreams
The Dealer
Gold Dust Woman
Soldier's Angel
24 Karat Gold
For What It's Worth
Rhiannon
Landslide
Fall From Grace
Leather and Lace

That's exactly what happened to me when I said the same thing. But I think that situation makes the most sense.

I tend to doubt Leather and Lace unless Stevie does another "Two Voices" tour with Don Henley.

only thing is, TV doesn't "goose" sales like it used to. The Dance was almost 20 years ago, MTV doesn't have that viewership anymore. Media is so splintered now. People basically consume the media they already want to view/hear. The bottom line is, unless she swings over to country and does a co-headlining tour with Lady Antebellum, her sales are done.
I'm baffled by her aversion to the country market. That's how she started singing. Blue Water, prominently featuring LA should have been a high profile first single, with a big budget video, released to country.... Lady was just more of her twirling around in 19th century drag.
She should have resurrected the GOURGEOUS look from the Little Lies video, dump the black clothes, stick-straight hair from The Dance revival, and work that country-girl look and sound.... IF she wanted to make a splash in the current market-place.
I ADORE Stevie and always will. It seems she truly cares about being on top. If that's the case, she needs new management and promotion and image... Liz Rosenberg can book her on all the talk shows on earth.. but she's still cultivating that look/sound from the Dance era.. it's OVER.

A lot of people in country think she is a slutty witch and don't want to embrace her.

I'd love Stevie to do a full UK tour, I was really disappointed when the extent of the IYD UK leg was one support slot for Rod Stewart at Hyde Park. A show somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall would be incredible :)

GavinBrown 06-10-2015 10:20 AM

Songs she would absolutely do:
Starshine
24k Gold
Lady
The Dealer

Songs she might add:
Belle Fleur
Twisted
All The Beautiful Worlds
Hard Advice

I wish she would do Mabel Normand

sorcerer999 06-10-2015 01:51 PM

Vocally speaking, I think Stevie will stick with the easier songs...

"IYWML"
"Mabel"
"24KG"
"Belle Fleur"
"Watch Chain" (there are a few strange people on here that loathe this song, but I think it's catchy, upbeat and the harmonies with the girls would be outstanding.)
"Hard Advice"
"Blue Water"

I think the Jimmy Fallon performance of "Lady" proved that it is NOT a song that translates well to the stage. Bless Stevie for giving it the good old "college try" but she was pitchy, flat and downright strained in parts. "Cathouse Blues" also has too many higher notes.

I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to hear "ATBW" live! I would die a happy camper. In the YouTube commentary, she stated that she thinks it would sound great on stage...but this is one of those songs that might not translate well either, due to some higher notes.

But then again, Stevie being the performer she is, she would probably just modify the higher parts on certain songs down to a lower note. Post Rumours tour "Rhiannon", the current live "Sisters OTM" and of course "Sorcerer" being prime examples.

Who knows what she'll pick. Regardless, we'll all be happily surprised and disappointed at the same time.

SisterNightroad 06-10-2015 02:02 PM

I loved the Lady live performance though...

I know. I loved "a little bit of it" too...but (and this is just my opinion) I don't like the way she "belted out" most of the song. The strained, pitchy parts made me cringe. Like I said, I think she tried her best...but it's definitely a "studio song" for me.

mtkad 06-10-2015 04:11 PM

I definitely don't see her doing ATBW and Lady if there's a tour next year. Especially if she's struggling with a highly transposed Seven Wonders which has already been dropped on the current tour.

I don't think it'd be right to promote it as the 24KG tour considering by the time she gets to tour it, the album will be about 1 1/2 years old. Maybe she'll rush out volume 2 and tour in fall 2016?

I agree about Lady...not a great song to do live unless she's in tip top form vocally. I think Watch Chain could be amazing on stage...lots of lighthearted fun!!!

I'm not feeling ATBW live...:sorry:

I think Mabel will be too much for her, live. It chugs along, never breaking, with an energy that I just don't think she can keep up with. I hope I'm wrong!

I liked it... This was the first song off the album that I really connected to. I just rewatched the performance... I'm wondering if her corset is not allowing her to breathe properly or something. She seems like she's not getting enough air.

I would love to see Lady live. I am not sure she would be able to keep up with all the MN words to be honest...

Why do you all think she'll do The Dealer? I didn't think that song was super notable, aside from being a single.

Definitely think she should tap into the country market. Blue Water would have been a great first single with Lady Antebellum. I remember when I first picked up her solo stuff I was surprised by how it sounded way more country than rock.
