Amsterdam Ziggo-Dome, May 31th 2015

Exited for tonight's show. For the first time I get to see the five fireflies on the same stage at the same time. This after my first Mac show in 1988 and a few to follow ...

Anyway, as a rock-concert is supposed to be it's general admission in front of the stage, so I'm planning on going early. Too bad ' De Toppers' (Dutchies will know) play at the nearby stadium .. will be crowded overhere.

Hopefully there will be no technical difficulties like last time they played here :-)

Amsterdam

I hope not! Flying to Amsterdam today from Glasgow for concert 1st June! Definetly hope no technical problems like last time, but the Ziggodome is a create venue and standing as well, the way a rock concert should be.

Any recommendations for good places for a couple of 40+ dudes to hang out tonight in Amsterdam?

Seasonsofmylife 05-31-2015 03:58 AM

I'm planning on going early too, I saw pictures of yesterdays Toppers event outside the Amsterdam Arena and there are going to be a lot of people...

So excited for tonight!

twinmatrix 05-31-2015 04:20 AM

I'm Dutch and I don't know who these people are lol.

What time are you planning on going?

My concert is tomorrow and I'd like to be there before 10 AM. Really want to stand close to Stevie and give her my support. <3

I would go at 4 AM but I don't expect FM fans to be as crazy as pop concert fans.

poetinmyheart 05-31-2015 05:08 AM

Enjoy everyone. Am excited to hear your reports back

Sanne2 05-31-2015 05:27 AM

Oh **** I had no idea there's a Toppers concert at the Arena, this could possiby be a disaster crowd-wise. I have floor tickets too, I was planning on being at the Ziggo dome at 16:30 but I might have to try to get there earlier.

SorcererJP 05-31-2015 10:31 AM

Waiting in line for doors to be opened. Not as crowded as back in 2013 ...

I thought I was late...

Probably because of the annoying weather:mad:

Enjoy the show!

twinmatrix 05-31-2015 11:10 AM

Awesome, have fun!

Seasonsofmylife 05-31-2015 04:43 PM

Amazing show, my head is spinning right now! :]

SorcererJP 05-31-2015 06:37 PM

It was magic to see the five fireflies performing again.

But I also thought it was a bit predictable. Of course I searched for setlist, downloaded the bootlegs. But stopped listening a couple of months ago.

I thought the show was very (of not 100%) similar to the ones I saw back in 2013 and even 2009. With the addition of a few Christine-songs.

They played very driven and solid, but there was no real fire. Very routine.

Alas, I'll have a second chance tonight.

shackin'up 05-31-2015 06:43 PM

That Songbird made me cry.

Sanne2 06-01-2015 05:37 AM

Horrible weather, I'll always remember this show for standing outside in the rain for 2,5 hours. My socks were soaking wet and I was cold for the rest of the night, but it was worth it! The show was great, I was very excited to see Christine back and she sounded (and looked) great. The band seemed well rested and in good spirits, after the recent interviews I was curious to see signs of any tension between band members, but no such thing (tho I did feel like Stevie and Mick didn't have much interaction?). It was a good show, better than 2013, but I do agree with SorcererJP, it felt very routinely. I'll post some pics on my blog later today.

MusicInferno 06-01-2015 06:09 AM

At which time does the show start?

And how long did they play for ?
I'm off to Leeds at the end of the month and will have problems returning to our Hotel, but don't care too much, I'm too excited.

It´s routine for them, but not for me :D

MorningStar 06-01-2015 05:53 PM

Now this was an excellent night although my feet and back are killing me  I've seen the Mac for a couple of times in the past six years but it just wasn't the same without Christine. I'll cherish tonight for a long time

Just watched the above clip of "Songbird". It may be one of the most moving performances of the song yet...

Simply a beautiful rendition. Thank God Christine is back.

jbrownsjr 06-02-2015 08:13 AM

Wow that was beautiful.

Seasonsofmylife 06-02-2015 09:18 AM

Again an amazing show! Here are some of the videos I made of the first night, will try to upload my videos of last night later today.

face of glass 06-02-2015 10:24 AM

The second night at Ziggo Dome was rather good. Gold Dust Woman was unexpectedly (for me) the highlight with the McVies doing very enjoyable extended jamming in that measured and low-key style of theirs. Christine's presence inevitably adds a lot, whether it's her taking the solo in Don't Stop or just sitting on the side chatting with John when Stevie is doing her Gypsy intro. And Songbird at the end should be mandatory at every FM concert. Nevermind the curfew.

I last saw them 12 years ago and while not much had changed, at least back then Stevie made some sort of attempt at the high vocal bits of certain old songs. Now she just dodged most of them. It's a very cliched complaint by now but it does tend to bother me a bit because those parts were intended as the climaxes of songs at the time. Gypsy in particular was lacking because of this.

A new album with some songs based on the instrumentalists' slow jams could really be something because that's where they seem the most comfortable. Though there will inevitably be some uptempo material, it wouldn't be FM otherwise.

Thanks to Mr. Shackin' Up for the small meet-up last night.

I hope that Songbird stays in the setlist. It seems to make such a difference to many. Maybe now that Christine's hand is healed it will.

That sounded divine. I can always tell if it's rushed vs perfect because I get tears in my eyes.

I agree on GDW and Songbird. What a way to end. I totally dug IKINW and Silver Springs.

Dutch railway was a big spoiler, I could have been there an hour earlier, we would have had more time for our meetup, Gaius. But at least (at last) we met. Cool. Very cool.

Second Amsterdam Night

Ok, I caught myself on mondaymorning that I checked Dutch 'Marktplaats' (Ebay) to see what the demand for tickets was ... My legs were still hurting from the night before.

But I left home at the same time as on sunday for Amsterdam and it was a bit more crowded. After a good 90 minute wait, doors opened and rushed in (pit-stop at lockers, restroom, coins-machine and the bar) and I ended up a few meters further from the stage. Now I was at Christine's side (6/7th row) , while I was at Mr. Buckingham's mike )kinda 2nd row) on sunday.

The sound was a bit better then the night before and I thought the band was 'on it' a bi more as well. Not that sunday was bad, but as I sad earlier: a bit routine.

My highlights (in no particular order): IKINW, GDW, Little Lies, GYOW, So Afraid, Second Hand News. Songbird moved me a lot more too. Maybe it was because I could now actually see Christine. Sunday I just looked at a grand piano with the top of her head above it :-)

Alas, next saturday I will be in Antwerp as well. Not on the floor (too bad) to relive it all over again.

Glad you enjoyed this one even more. I hope Antwerp is even better. We want quality to keep going up, not down.

Yes, that piano is a Chris blocker.

Michele

shackin'up 06-02-2015 06:17 PM

The second show was a lot more spot on. Chris was less shaky on her vocals, Stevie did a great job on GDW and Silver Springs and was as good as show one. Lindsey seemed more focused, more precise in his playing. The show sparked slightly more. But that may 31st Songbird was to die for.

Yes. When Christine is really "into" the song it is perfection. The "but most of all, I wish it from myself" gets me every time...especially in this performance.

I still think June the 1st they were pretty low on energy or something. I dunno. It lacked THE FLEETWOOD MAC charm. Especially with Stevie. Christina was fine. :)

jbrownsjr 06-07-2015 12:34 PM

Wow!! Some of the best Fleetwood Mac photos from this tour!!!
