Stevie at the SuperBowl?

So I heard there were rumors that Stevie was potentially a surprise guest of Katy Perry's at tomorrow's halftime show.

Fleetwood Mac is playing Buffalo, NY tonight. She would really have to hustle to get to Phoenix, AZ for the performance.

Any further inside information out there?

The subject came up in the New Surprises thread a while back and my guess as to will she be there and on stage would be no.

Katy only teased that she will be joined by a "female throwback guest"

It's been widely rumored this week that it's Missy Elliot

singertobe 01-31-2015 03:38 PM

I CAN'T STAND Katy Perry! I don't know why but I can't stand her! With my girly type of personality you'd think I'd be a major Katykat. But there's something about her that just SCREAMS "Fake". Am I the only one who feels this way?
I don't know why Stevie is so fond of this woman! Their music has no similarities whatsoever, their image is on opposite spectrums, etc.

She is a fake artists, but then again so are all the teenie bopper type music. They all sound the same. I don't listen to that type of music. It would be cool if Stevie made a surprise guest apperence.

I follow the pop music scene and love some of Katy's bubblegum music. I even liked Katy. However, I agree she seems a bit fake. She comes off as genuine and down to earth one minute, and then she will slip and show a more snotty and condescending attitude.

Macfanforever 01-31-2015 10:57 PM

Now I guess I have to hit the record button for the halftime show tomorrow night .I always can erase it.

kak125 02-01-2015 01:52 PM

Surprisingly I love Katy Perry! I hated her at first but then heard ET and freaking loved it! Saw her in Pittsburgh this summer and the show was fantastic! She had so much energy and it was just so much fun! I do hope with her next album/tour that she matures a bit and loses her teeny bopper image. She's 30 now so I think a more stripped down sound would work better in the future. She seems cool as hell though and when I watched her documentary and saw how real she was I was very surprised. Not too many people would put their personal life out there like that! I think the most shocking thing was seeing her with no makeup and zits. Ha ha!! Just goes to show she is just like everybody else.
I think her halftime show will be really awesome but not sure it can top Bruno Mars or Madonna though.

Macfanforever 02-01-2015 08:05 PM

The halftime show is coming up next after the halftime report which is on now.

Macfanforever 02-01-2015 08:13 PM

I have to watch for wardrobe malfunctions.

Macfanforever 02-01-2015 08:20 PM

No Stevie .At this time the mute button was hit as the rap started.

It's sad that there is so many undiscovered talanted singers... And katy perry is famous

Macfanforever 02-01-2015 10:03 PM

Missy stole the show going by some of the reactions and Katy did lip sing. She said she would be during one of her interviews. I think most HT performers do.

after that horrendous performance for the Beatles Tribute I doubt katy perry ever make attempt to "sing " live again

Sanne2 02-02-2015 03:22 PM

Remember Stevie performing at the pre-show in 2006? Most people were like "Stevie who?" and it was humid and her hair was a frizzy mess, that's all I remember.

Give it a few years. Katy Perry will be forgotten. She's not memorable enough not to be.

I remember. She did Stand Back and seemed super nervous. Yes, her hair was a frizz and her outfit was subpar.

Yeah, I watched the video of Stand back on youtube but it wasn't her best performance...
Her hair was kinky but if I'm not wrong, it was 2006 and her hair always was like that at the time
Now I'm trying to search the video on youtube but I can't find it anymore!

I don't get Katy Perry. She won the luck lottery for having such a big career. I'm trying to figure out the demographic that sustains her -- perhaps 12 year old girls? She embodies the persona of a Disney character. There is nothing special about her voice.
Her performances seem to rely heavily over-done theatrics and stage production. She benefits from media coverage because they just panders to what is trending, so they can seem current.

It's hard for me to take her seriously. nor would I be expected to; she appeals mostly to a specific demographic market. I'm sure most of the people who watched the Super Bowl weren't fawning over her, but were entertained by the spectacle. Judged by that perspective, she was very successful in achieving what was required for an event so super-sized in scale.

Well, I think most of these things could have been said of Stevie back in the day...

I agree about Katy Perry not being special enough to justify all this hype about her but that's true also for Britney Spears or Taylor Swift or a lot of others.
People not always like who is more talented, they also like characters they can relate to. Katy Perry, like a lot of young little talented starlets before and after her, is an achievable personality and makes her audience think that there is not a huge gap between her and the average fan. They uncounsciously think that they can become like her if they want.
